Buyer Commodity Wood Products Forest Products
Evaluates wood commodities pricing and suppliers and purchases lumber to meet company's goals in quality, delivery and cost, negotiating primarily with mills, brokers, and wholesalers to obtain competitive costs. Maintains on-going relationships with suppliers by securing bids and placing purchase orders. Replenishes distribution center lumber inventory as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes wood and panel commodities prices in current cash and futures markets to enable acquisition of products at optimum cost to enable locations to sell at lowest pricing while maximizing gross margin, turns, and sales volume for both direct shipments and reload/DC inventory.
Interviews key wood and or panel commodity sources to obtain information about short and long term market prices.
Purchases wood commodities and place special orders with consideration as to cost and market timing so as to increase turns, margins and sales volume.
Develops market information and advises supply chain personnel as to current pricing, market trends, availability, freight information, order status, and product location.
Solicits, analyzes, and recommends vendor products and programs for wood and panel merchandise such as dimension lumber, OSB and plywood.
Processes claims/complaints regarding defective merchandise.
Prepares and maintains appropriate records of purchases and freight by use of purchase order and filing system.
Places special orders as requested.
Communicates market fluctuations and any related commodities problems.
Provides functional advice to less experienced buyers.
Other duties may be assigned.

As part of Weyerhaeuser's Professional Development Program (PDP) our St. Helens tree farm has an opening for a Forest Engineering Specialist position. Our PDP is one of our succession planning tools and is intended to ensure a pool of skilled professionals are ready and available to step into key roles when vacancies occur. This Professional Development (PD) role will initially be based out of the Castle Rock, Washington location. This position will work with the area team(s) that manage the land and timber activities within their respective tree farms. The area teams are responsible for the planning and management of field engineering activities, involved in harvesting operations, as well as forestry and other silvicultural activities. The PD role is a full time, exempt position that will report to the respective Area Manager within the location they are assigned.

This program provides talented candidates that can be accessed from all operating areas to meet staffing needs as appropriate. We will select and place the most qualified employees in full time entry-level assignments, and as additional openings become available (generally a 12-month timeframe), and based on readiness, transfer or promote these individuals into those future vacancies, commensurate with performance and experience. Each candidate must be willing to work through a strategic development plan by working across different areas or functional teams to ensure a variety of exposure/experience is available and business needs are met. Asphalt Paving Machine Operator
CWM has immediate openings for "Experienced" Asphalt Paving Machine Operator. The Asphalt Paving Machine Operator's primary function is to operate the asphalt paving machine to achieve overall ride quality and appearance. The operator must perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor. In addition, the operator may be required to perform minor repairs to the equipment and is expected to assist in the general operation of each job site. The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:
Installing/removing auto paving electronic;
Adding/removing screed extensions;
Cleaning excess asphalt off of paver;
Set up and maintenance of erosion control;
Loading and unloading of materials;
Checking and maintaining grade stakes;
Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids;
Operating rollers, power broom, tamps, and skid steer loaders, and any other equipment employee is able to operate;
Driving pick-ups, flatbed, water trucks, and sand trucks;
Maintenance of all equipment and tools.
The above listed duties require periods of standing, walking, stooping and bending. Employee must be able to climb equipment's ladder to reach the operators seat. Position requires periodic lifting up to 50 pounds. The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
