Sweeps dies, operates all furnace controls (door, hearth and car), cleans and lubricates dies, funtions as scale blower and operates tools required to set dies and trimmers.
After a predefined training period is completed, has gained a basic knowledge of materials and forging practices; safe operation of floor manipulators.
Sets up and uses impression stamps.
Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Performs other routine duties.

ATI Forged Products produces and markets a wide range of specialty metal alloys, including titanium, nickel, and steel forgings to end use markets such as aerospace, energy, oil & gas, and general industrial markets. We have several operating facilities and deliver products to customers globally.
We are currently seeking a Forge Shop Helper at our Cudahy, WI location.
This position is responsible for assisting hammer and press operators or other forging equipment operators by performing related forging duties in the forging process.
Position responsibilities include:
Assist forging equipment operators.
Positioning stock on dies.
Blowing scales from the stock during the forging operation.
Trimming flash from the forgings and stamping part identity and heat code numbers.
Checking dimensions of workpiece during the forging operation using go/no go type gages.
Maintaining proper alignment of dies or tooling.
Performs duties within coordinated work effort of the forging operation.
Maintaining production pace.
Follow all safety guideline set forth by ATI Forged Products.

Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.
Today, ECG has eight facilities in four different states. We are currently seeking a full-time Forge Operator III position in Sharon, PA. to run our unique multi-directional forging press work-center. This non-exempt position will focus on coordinating all press activity for production, including operation of ECG's state-of-the-art multi-directional forging press. The Forge Operator III is required to have a strong understanding of ECG's unique forging processes and, excellent analytical and organizational skills in order to coordinate timely execution of production requirements. Duties and responsibilities of this position are dynamic and may change over time due to business needs and the candidate may be required to work rotating shifts, 12-hour schedules and overtime as needed.

Daily coordination of activities including planning for runs (production as well as development) based on the forge schedule

Coordinate with the furnace/crane operator to ensure safe and repeatable transfer of bar material from the furnace to the press with crane automation within the minimum amount of time per product-specific transfer requirements.
Provide input during engineering reviews, development and testing of new products and processes, including furnaces, tooling, and material handling devices
Work closely with the product development engineer during all phases of the project, from trials through production hand-off
Troubleshoot equipment issues through collaboration with ECG maintenance, engineering and forging crew personnel
Coordinate periodic (daily/weekly/monthly) preventive maintenance on forging equipment.
Collaborate with ECG Maintenance to develop and sustain preventive maintenance plans and best-practices
Ensure forge quality control and continuous improvement by troubleshooting quality issues, developing and maintaining in-process quality inspections, and focusing on continuous improvement by identifying, eliminating and preventing obstacles to efficient product flow, quality, and efficiency
Ensure safe and efficient die assembly into the press using ECG's customized die rigging with crane automation
Develop, maintain and standardize clear work instructions for all production positions in the operation identifying necessary information and hardware for current/next job
Provide feedback to engineers to optimize forging process sequences and setup information contained in blueprints
Develop/Improve and validate new product recipes, including those for heating
Assist in or coordinate furnace setup, tool housing assembly, die changes, in-process inspection and flash removal as well as other forging support activities. Must be able to demonstrate and maintain competency in these job functions.
Review new product inquiries with Engineering to aid in developing routes and estimates
Set up the new work center(s) to optimize organization and accountability for work area tooling, material handling and supplies. Identify appropriate visual manufacturing aids (communication boards, etc.)

Eaton in South Bend, IN is hiring a 3rd Shift Forge Team Specialist. The primary purpose of this position is to work in a self-directed, team oriented, advanced forging operation to produce quality product safely and efficiently.
Perform equipment and tooling set-ups as specified by the Process Sheet Work Instructions.
Perform quality inspection including gauge usage, SPC tracking and blueprint reading.
Participate as a team member to continuously improve operations.
Perform preventative maintenance and inspection checks on equipment and fork lifts.
Operate and make necessary adjustments to the forge press, trim press, automatic loader, automatic graphite spray system, heat induction system and all related controls. Operate spray lubricant as required.
Communicate with all other team members to assure quality product production and customer satisfaction.
Perform visual inspection of product during production.
Complete all necessary forms and quality records related to product production.
Adhere and support the 5 Basic Concepts: Safety, Communication, Involvement, Mutual Respect, and Trust.
Manage team leader responsibilities.
Participate in teams and/or taskforces that are directly related to plant operations and continuous improvement.
Consistent Exposure to and the ability to comply with the following Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Ability to frequently move and/or lift forgings and dies during the forging and trimming press operations weighing from 3-36lbs.
Ability to stand or walk the entire shift.
Ability to hear and talk to other teammates while working.
Ability to visually detect quality defects during production.
Ability to tolerate extreme temperature changes, wetness and/or humidity during production operations.
Ability to tolerate noise at a time weighted average of 97 decibels and occasional vibration due to use of tools and equipment.
Ability to tolerate fumes from forge press, forklifts, Tennant Sweeper, welding and cutting operations. Ability to tolerate occasional graphite/water mist from forging operations.
Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area (within 50 miles) of South Bend, IN will be considered for this position.
