The Forming Operator I is responsible for the operation and quality of bubble wrap and other similar products produced by the Forming machines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Measure and test product
Identify defects in product
Read and comprehend work order
Accurately complete "First Off Check Sheet"
Produce product to work order specifications
Run speed (bags/rolls/lbs./pks. per hour) maintained
Perforation location, performance and size
Complete and apply roll tags
Maintain budgeted scrap levels
Complete Quality check sheet after every roll / per required frequency
Complete Production data entry accurately
Maintain required inventory levels for pull system
Stage rolls in required locations
Understand machine mechanics
Job setup or changeover on machine with no supervision following standard work procedures
Familiar with downstream equipment
Close work orders (remove job packets, placard for partials, remove materials)
Identify E-stops and safety sensitive areas
Assist in Maintenance PM's
Bear Tracker data consistently input
Material boards accurate and updated
Housekeeping per 5S Handoff Audits
Workbenches clean and organized
QA samples neatly placed in boxes
Full QA boxes removed and tagged properly
Excess or unused materials removed
Practice safe behavior with regards to equipment and task
Able to resolve technical problems independently
Understand RM and FG part numbers
Able to count inventory
Can be moved to different machines within applicable machine or product group

Education and/or Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or its equivalency
At least 2 years of machine operation experience
Previous Roll Tending, Flexo Press, Printing and Forming experience preferred
- Must be able to understand and read English with good interpersonal skills
- Must be capable of performing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations.
- Must possess good organization and time management skills and practices
Must be capable of using a computer to perform data entry and printing functions – required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel - preferred

- Employee will primarily be working inside in a semi-climate controlled manufacturing environment in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
Because numerous other machines are dependent on the product produced by the Formers, all forming operators must ensure that the machine stays running by covering for vacation, sick time, etc. Call offs must be covered by a qualified Operator. If no arrangements can be made, the operator currently running the machine will be required to stay and cover the shift until another qualified operator can be contacted and arrangements made to cover the shift (up to a max of 16 hours.) Refusal to do so may result in demotion and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination. Failure to report to work and/or calling off at start-up will result in discipline in addition to our normal attendance policy. The first offense within 1 year would be a 1st written warning, the second offense would be a suspension and the third offense would be demotion or termination.
Forming Machine Operator 3Rd Shift
Start up and operate department equipment to form finished bearings and bushings.
Education, Skills and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of area-specific Saint-Gobain products and processes.
Able to operate independently and as part of a team.
Tool repair and maintenance, and one year experience in modifying Bihler and/or Finzer tooling machines.
Basic command of the English language, written and verbal.
Able to read and follow SOPs, labels and instructions and blueprints.
Demonstrated mechanical abilities, including use of measuring devices.
Experience in Statistical Process Control.
Demonstrated mechanical and mathematical abilities.
Computer skills necessary to fulfill department requirements.
Operates up to 3 machines simultaneously according to standard operating procedures, or special instruction from supervisor.
Trains to Set up and operate Forming machine according to standard operating procedures and special instruction/ assistance from supervisor, and established volume expectations as communicated by supervisor.
Performs 1st piece inspection after each setup.
Clears machine jams, makes adjustments as needed.
Performs SPC checks and procedures.
Monitors and updates status of work orders.
Communicate and cooperate with fellow employees to maintain quality, operational efficiency and safety.
Clean and maintain machinery, tools, and work area as scheduled or as needed.
Maintain necessary records as required by SOPs and work instructions.
Visually observe, troubleshoot, and report non-conformance condition (either product or process) to supervisor, or manager as required.
Disassemble and reassemble machines and replace parts as required.
Monitor quality of product through 1st piece and final inspection as required.
Participate in self-development and training of others.
Perform other related duties as required or as directed by supervisor.
Exhibits safety awareness and safe work practices.

Apprentice Operator - Forming
The Forming Apprentice Operator will continuously improves and maintains the Individual Section (I.S.) Machine as well as runs on or above target level of productivity. Maintaining includes functions such as swabbing mold equipment, inspecting containers, preventing defects, changing equipment and maintaining housekeeping.
Actively participates in timely shift communications between inspection, tooling, machine repair, etc. and informs upkeep's and management of any process problems.
Assists in the replacement of variable equipment on the I.S. Machine when new parts are needed, such as hangers, baffles, blowheads, invert arms etc.
Observes all company rules concerning safety and housekeeping, and consults with specialists and line management to suggest solutions to any associated problems.
Performs visual inspections of bottles to include bottle finishes, ware handling on conveyors, weight checks, light sides and other visual defects using established inspection criteria.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Able to work in a high-pressure production environment.
Ability to work in a self managed team environment.
1 to 2 years working with High Speed Machinery.
Written and Oral Communication skills a must.
Work Schedule: 4x4 12 hr. shifts, rotating days/nights every 30 days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observe machine operation to ensure quality and conformity of package material.
Package product in proper containers.
Inspect and remove defective product from production line.
Stop machine when malfunction occur and report immediate to mechanics or supervisor.
Stamp finished good product with packer ID number.
The ability to pack sleeved product into corrugated case, seal (tape) and stack on a pallet.
