Full Time Job Summary Responsible for the direction and oversight of the daily processing of formula and/or human milk orders. Supervises technician staff assigned to preparation and delivery of nutrition supplies including formula (infant, metabolic and other ready-to-feed formula preparations) and human milk (expressed, donor, skimming and fortification.). Accountable for maintenance of infection prevention standards of both the work area and in the performance of staff task assignments.
Provides guidance on distribution of work to assure the most efficient and safe processing of all daily orders. Functions as preceptor for newly hired staff and in teaching new techniques and/or policies and procedures. Promotes patient safety standards for assigned area.
Supervises safe and effective operation of all equipment used during preparation and delivery process. Performs required quality improvement monitoring activities. Job Responsibilities Displays polite, friendly, efficient and responsive Spirit of Service attitude to clients, co-workers and customers.
Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, associates and all others in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner. Maintains professional attire and manner at all times. Ensures that personnel in appropriate uniform.
Assists in the selection of new employees. Implements disciplinary actions when needed per established policy. Completes performance appraisals per established policy.
Trains workers in performance of duties and assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote an efficient operation. Assures accuracy in preparation of all orders. Communicates with manager, team and/or Registered Dietitians (RD) regarding unclear patient formula and/or human milk orders.
Networks with clinical practitioners in the coordination of the preparation and delivery of formula and/or human milk. Ensures timely and efficient formula/human milk preparation, delivery of supplies per patient order, per recipe or RD instruction. Supervises preparation of prepared formula and human milk fortification.
Inspects work areas, uses of proper utensils and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met. Follows established cleaning procedures and schedules. Facilitates the completion of assigned work, schedule and shift.
Ensures areas are left clean and organized condition. Maintains departmental records and reports including, but not limited to logs, employee schedules, temperature logs, floor stock log, etc. Completes opening and/or closing checklists per department requirements.
Participates in department quality control activities including formula expiration audits, area inspection and/or tracers, order calculation accuracy and other related audits. Promotes safety behaviors for the team. Responsible for reporting any system problems or errors they identify to managers.
Promotes safety behaviors with staff. Follows cost control standards of the hospital and department. Follows department standards of operation and policies and procedures.
May assist in work procedures, inventory, preparing work schedules and expediting workflow. Replaces call outs positions as necessary to maintain effective daily operations while adhering to labor control standards. Assists subordinates in performing duties.
Assists with inventory and inspects formula, related supplies and equipment to maintain stock levels and ensure standards of quality are met. Checks/removes damaged formula cans and outdated formula/human milk stock from inventory. Reports any safety or employee incidents per hospital policy and corrects and or reports unsafe, unsecured or unclean environment to immediate report and or Environmental, Health and Safety and Facilities Department.
Attends all hospital and department mandatory sessions, meetings and in-services. Actively participates as an informed participant in meetings, department and team projects. Job Responsibilities (Continued) Adheres to Hospital and department attendance policies and procedures.
Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security. Complies with HIPAA regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to provide care and services based on age appropriateness and developmental needs of the patients.

Maintain a sanitary and safe environment by following departmental and infection control policies.

Maintains compliance with standards of operation for services especially guidelines for formula and human milk handling and storage. Adheres to Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines. Maintains temperature logs of prepared formula for quality assurance.
Maintains clean equipment and small wares in dishwasher. Checks for recordkeeping of dish machine temperatures per procedure. Follows proper instruction for operating any of the equipment used for formula and/or human milk preparation.
Maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with department, hospital, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes. Maintains compliance with all requirements of Federal, State and local regulations and guidelines including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. OCTA's Emerging Professionals Intern Program is a year-round paid student/intern program. You will gain real world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of transportation professional.
