PRIMARY PURPOSE: Oversee daily foundry processes as well as supervise hourly employees while pursuing continuous improvement in areas such as scrap reduction and productivity increases while minimizing cost.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead teams that are focused on the primary purposes of daily operation through safety, quality, service, and productivity levels within budgetary guidelines
Direct Leadpersons to guide, direct, and assign work to their fellow employees and maintain records as necessary
Ensure hourly workforce is flexible and properly trained
Lead departmental improvement through development and implementation of improvement concepts related to subjects including but not limited to production tooling, product design, and equipment design & layout
Must handle the interpersonal aspect of the job including disciplinary activity, coordination with other supervisors, work rule enforcement, and labor relations
Maintenance of data and reports related to the supervised area using Microsoft applications such as Excel and Access
RECOMMENDED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
High school diploma
Demonstrated real world Problem Solving experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
BS Degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engr. preferred)
Experience writing and revising procedures, work instructions, forms, visual aids and etc.
Experience working within an ISO 9001 QMS
Experience with SAP
At least 3 years supervision or foundry experience
SUPERVISION RECEIVED and EXERCISED Receives supervision from Foundry Manager. Exercises supervision over group leaders, coremakers, mold makers, and foundry specialists.
- Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to all weather conditions; exposure to vibrations, and noise; work on slippery or uneven surfaces, work with or in water; work with and around heavy machinery, in or near vehicle traffic; work underground; exposure to dust and fumes; subject to possible inhalation and absorption through skin of toxic chemicals.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying; pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling; use of fingers, both hands, and both legs required; must be able to distinguish colors.
Maintain mental capacity that permits making sound judgments regarding work and have regular attendance.
Must also pass post-offer drug testing and criminal background check and other appropriate testing and requirements as required.

Foundry Melting And Pouring Supervisor - 3Rd Shift
How would you like to be a part of melting scrap steel and refining it to customers' specifications, and then pouring liquid steel into molds to create castings, which will help move mountains? Harrison Steel has an opening for a Melt Shop Supervisor on 3rd shift to oversee the operating and maintenance of the 20-ton electric arc furnaces and furnace overhead cranes, direct the furnace personnel in the melting operations, and the pouring personnel in the pouring operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the direct supervision, direction, coordination, and evaluation of Melting area personnel.
Understands and perform all melting duties to the level of an 'A' Melter and 'A' Pourer
Works with Melting Operations Manager to establish and oversee procedures for melting, sometimes based on Foundry and Cleaning Room results.
Works with metallurgical and production staff to support the production processes on Furnace and Lab department-related topics.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Engineering, or an Engineering Technology related field; or at least 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) is required.
Strong common sense, problem solving ability, people skills, and communication skills are all very important.
The employee regularly work near electric arcs, moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. 2Nd Shift Foundry Supervisor
Summary Under the direction of the Foundry Manager and/or Foundry Superintendent, the Foundry Supervisor is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of his/her area(s) of foundry operation. These areas may include, but are not limited to; Molding areas, Core Room, Melt, Cleaning Room, Pattern Shop, and Furnace Repair.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to which competency will be measured include the following. Directly and indirectly supervises hourly foundry employees, participates in the establishment of production goals and timetables for the foundry, organizes production procedures and monitors performance, maintains a foundry budget and implements cost reduction and profit improvement programs, maintains close surveillance over all foundry operations to assure that schedules and timetables are met. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervises hourly employees in the assigned area of responsibility and elsewhere as directed. Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and assisting with the evaluation of these areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. GENERAL SUMMARY: The Loss Prevention Agent is responsible for protecting the assets of the company, including the associates through prevention, awareness, communication and deterrence. The Loss Prevention Agent ensures the customer experience through providing a "Crime Free Store" by making safe apprehensions, deterring internal and external theft, as well as, assisting in providing a safe shopping experience. The Loss Prevention Agent is responsible for the timely training of all new hires on Loss Prevention policies and procedures. The Loss Prevention Agent will work closely with store management to increase Loss Prevention awareness, maintain operational excellence and minimize the overall losses.
Identify Associate theft and assist with internal investigations at the direction of Loss Prevention Manager, Loss Prevention Supervisor, District Loss Prevention Manager, and or Regional Loss Prevention Manager
Recover assets and / or make safe apprehensions following company apprehension policies.
Complete all necessary Loss Prevention documentation
Identify and report organized crime rings to the Organized Retail Crime Manager.
Work with store personnel to identify inventory shortage opportunities and recommend solutions.
Audit compliance to physical security standards (EAS, leather locks, doors, etc.)
Identify employee theft and assist with internal investigations at the direction of LPM, LPS, DLPM, and or RLPM.
Recover assets and / or make safe apprehensions following company apprehension policies.
Audit compliance to company operational procedures.
Participate in storewide and individual sales associate meetings.
Ensure Loss Prevention Awareness Center is current and up to date.
Create and maintain awareness by promoting available resources (Code of Business Conduct Hotline, LP awareness center, etc.)
Demonstrates and acts in accordance with Gap Inc. Purpose, Values and Behaviors
Participate in the on boarding process of new hires.
Training on Operational Audit to ensure Operational Excellence..
Maintain in store complete case paperwork, and ensure completion in a timely manner.
Work with and train management team to ensure operational compliance.

Train and audit compliance to store safety standards (Code Adam, emergency exits, evacuation procedure, etc.

Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff and management.

High School diploma or equivalent desired.
1-2 years or retail experience preferred.

Pentair is currently seeking a Value Stream Manager to coordinate and facilitate the daily operations of the assigned Value Stream(s) to provide adequate resources, on-going work direction and problem solving to ensure business goals are met under the guidelines of the company policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and manages a manufacturing department(s). Set goals and establish metrics for the departments
Manages department with zero recordable injuries.
Manages quality systems and responsible for all out of box quality within these departments.
Maintains a Customer First attitude while achieving OTTCR goals.
Manages productivity levels with the departments.
Continuously improve productivity, flow, change-overs, etc. through the implementation of Lean principles.
Decreases scrap levels and identify all forms of waste for elimination.
Manages cost as a % of net sales. Manage within the forecasted budget.
Establishes stretch goals/metrics for the value stream – define success.
Actively participate in and lead self-directed Kaizen events.
Lead the development of current and future state value stream maps and continuous improvement plans, as well as the implementation of those plans across the value stream.
Be highly visible to associates and promote hands-on, high involvement approaches to problem solving.
Support new product development by driving the operations requirements.
Reviews/Ensures success of the day-to-day production activities within the value stream while driving improvements.
Lead cross functional performance review walk and drive improvements.
Drive cross-functional execution and track daily performance through the use of process center communication boards on a daily basis ensuring root cause analysis and counter measures are identified.
Assures a clean and safe working environment for all employees, emphasizing prevention of potential problems and hazardous conditions.
Conducts safety investigations as needed.
Performs 5S audits/safety training.
Responsible for developing and monitoring standard work and quality standards.
Performs layered process audits and quality audits.
Conducts OTD analysis and update sales order advisory.
Manages resources of the assigned areas of the value stream.
Manages assigned resources to or below budgetary levels.
Develops value stream budgets.
Ensures accuracy and proper management of inventory and build schedules.
Ensures timely disposition of scrap and non-conforming materials.
Executes, manages and coordinates department's vacation schedule to ensure adequate coverage and completion of departments work products.
Provides input and makes recommendations for requisitioning, placing, and training of employees assigned to designated production area.
Manages salaried and professional staff.
Develops and delivers complete, fair, accurate and meaningful employee performance reviews.
Responsible for assigned team's adherence to company policies and procedure. Award and discipline as appropriate.
Develops talent via training and career direction discussions. Find opportunities for leaders' growth.
Ensures Kronos payroll system is updated daily and certified weekly
Ensures cross training of employees is conducted for development and skills matrix is updated.
Job Requirements & Skills
Skills and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or higher. Engineering, Science or Business degree is preferred.
5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Lean manufacturing concepts experience (layouts, material, performance to Takt, etc.)
Experience in Injection Machining a plus.
Ability to lead and coordinate multi-functional team projects
Ability to develop leaders
Standard PC skills (Office Suite, etc.)
Able to communicate effectively in the English language.

The Weissman Foundry on the Babson College campus is an exciting new building and strategic educational initiative named in honor of esteemed Babson alumnus and trustee Bob Weissman ’64, H’94, P’87 ’90 and his wife Jan P’87 ’90. This 9,800-square-foot educational facility will combine a flexible design studio classroom with innovative, related programming, prototyping facilities, and makerspaces where students can work on entrepreneurial projects where prototyping is central.
This new building is envisioned as an innovation and design space where entrepreneurs of all kinds can come together to learn and create and is a strategic action by Babson College to lead interdisciplinary education at the intersections of Entrepreneurship and the Liberal Arts. The Weissman Foundry is less about the actual tools and space provided, and more about the curricular and co-curricular programing that will bring Babson College, Olin College of Engineering and Wellesley College students together to create new products and services and solve problems. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Performs maintenance pipefitting on all equipment
Changes, sets up, and adjusts equipment as required
Lubricates or directs others to lubricate equipment.
Uses all common and precision checking equipment, laser equipment, and portable power tools Installs, repairs, and maintains pumps
Metal cutting and forming equipment,
Compressors, valves, turbines, steam delivery systems
Material handling equipment.
