Full Time Shift: First Shift LC Industries, a multi-site manufacturing, distribution, retail and E-Commerce company is seeking a Tape Edge Machine Operator to join our team. DESCRIPTION: Operate a tape edge machine to perform the final steps of the mattress production process.
Monitor quality of work from time of receipt to completion of the tape edging process. Retrieving a pre-assembled mattress from the work belt or filling box and securely sewing mattress tape around edges of mattress. Upon completion of tape edging, place each finished mattress in the inspection area.
Start, stop and control speed of tape edge machine and monitor quality of pre-assembled product and finished product. Repair work that is non-conforming by re-sewing incorrect seams. Replace expendable materials such as tape, thread, and guide attachments as needed.
Keep supervisor informed of any operational or quality deficiencies. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: Some education with basic reading and math skills.
Must be able to communicate with manager and co-workers. Requires ability to stand and walk for more than two thirds of shift. Must be able to pull edges of mattress cover material tightly together using one hand while holding tape edge machine with other hand.
Must be able to lift a 100-lb. mattress and carry it 20 feet repeatedly during shift. Must be able to reach high enough to carry one mattress overhead. Department: SABIC is seeking a high energy, goal-focused individual who is a subject matter expert in continuous fiber thermoplastic composite processing, and has the communication skills needed to help our diversified global business achieve its goals. The Advanced Composites team is a global team targeting the creation of (continuous fiber) thermoplastic composite solutions for SABIC, by introducing innovative and value added downstream products such as material forms for the market.
It does so in close co-operation with the Composites Business Development team. The team is part of SABICs Specialties BU and continues to expand and grow with its main office in Geleen, The Netherlands, and additional personnel at various locations in Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Job Purpose &
Develop and optimize innovative methods for mass production of thermoplastic unidirectional (UD) composites tapes. Interface with the resin formulation team to improve impregnation speed and tape performance.
Identify critical steps in the process, integrate quality control systems and guarantee consistent product quality. Develop/integrate modeling methods to support the developments. Network and closely work with technical experts in different SABIC Strategic Business Units as well as with the university network. Document work and present to stake holders in various business functions.
Requirements The candidate should have a proven record of accomplishments in the area of thermoplastic composite production processes. The candidate should be a self-motivated professional able to work independently to reliably deliver results.
Key requirements include: Graduate education (preferably a Ph.D.) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science or other relevant field. In-depth understanding of thermoplastic composites, polymers, fibrous materials and interface properties.
Experience with production of thermoplastic tapes. Preferably experience with implementation and use of QA/QC methods. Knowledge of basic statistical analysis techniques, preferably experience with DoE.
Proven ability to prioritize, manage, and simultaneously deliver on multiple projects. Strong interpersonal, communication & presentation skills. Strict adherence to company safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
Demonstrated documentation and presentation skills. Availability for occasional travel up to 25%.
