Apply survey information to create designs and drawings for various engineering and planning projects including base mapping, sanitary sewers and presentation layouts. Design new sewers in established neighborhoods. Design/drafting for sewer rehabilitation projects as well as support for development review.
Respond to customer and public inquiries and complaints; explain and interpret codes, policies, standards, fees, and procedures to members of the public, contractors, engineers, architects and other public or utility organization employees to resolve problems; improve understanding of City programs and to ensure adherence to procedures in complex technical matters. Attend community and neighborhood meetings related to the program.
Research utility requirements for new developments and existing services; review utility plans from consultants and engineers. Conduct research of ownership, legal descriptions or other such data needed to complete information required in preparation of Public Works Capital Improvement Projects.
Perform onsite visits throughout the life of a project; collect field data, verify conditions, note potential or developing problems, and make recommendations. Drive a city vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner in order to travel between various assigned worksites.
Participate in the preparation of documents and related procedures relative to Public Works Capital Improvement Projects including public meeting information, plans and bid documents. Coordinate public works projects with applicable city, state and federal officials and other relevant agencies and parties.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to an Associate of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college with major course work in engineering or a related field.
Two (2) years of increasingly technical engineering experience is required in sanitary sewer engineering or related discipline.
One (1) year of AutoCAD Civil 3D with work including pipe networks is preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Basic skills in Geographic Information Systems.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

This position requires self-driven individuals responsible for program management of large CSO and SSO projects. SNC-Lavalin's Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Miami, FL Construction Management Group as a Water & Sewer Construction Engineer.
Under general direction, provides technical expertise to the direction of the firm's construction services program activities at one or various project sites. Responsible for the administration and observation of construction activities to determine if the quality of the work performed by the contractor meets clients' needs and governmental requirements, and conforms substantially with plans and specifications. Represents the firm to the construction project group and has ultimate responsibility for the firm's performance on the project.
NOTE: Incumbents do not supervise any contractor's activities and are not responsible for job site safety; this title is to be used only for personnel with engineering degree/license, or in FDOT contracts or states where state regulations do not disallow the use of the 'Engineer' designation for non-engineers.
Work involves planning, coordination and problem solving on a variety of construction engineering projects involving several disciplines, multiple contractors and/or regulatory agencies.
Ability to communicate / collaborate with the multiple stakeholders on a water & sewer construction project, including client, A/E, Contractor, Permitting Agencies and the general public.
Assume required construction management responsibilities, including field quality assurance and contract administration.
Plans and organizes the administration and coordination of construction observation and reporting activities.
Directs subordinate internal staff involved in the observation, testing and sampling of construction materials, observation of construction work, and documentation of plan revisions and work progress.
Is responsible for reporting project cost and quality control activities to client.
Provides financial management of construction office operations, monitoring costs and expenses, approving and dispersing funds, and coordinating accounting and cost allocation.
Coordinates construction monitoring with client program manager to resolve problems, disputes and scheduling of work, and to prepare contract changes and supplemental agreements.
Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
