This position will be responsible for operating or tending machines designed to cut expanded polystyrene blocks according to exacting standards of work order.
The shift will be Monday
2:30am with potential for overtime. This position will be eligible for a $1.00 shift differential.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Receives and reads work order
Calculates the number of blocks required for work order
Communicate number of blocks required for work order to material handler
Adjusts cutting wires to correct dimensions using hand tools
Lock out energy source and then remove the lock out device when job is completed
Starts cutting machine and adjusts the line speed
Positions block on slabber and feeds block into cutting machine, cutting foam according to correct dimensions and square-ness per work order
Continuously observes and examines cutting machine in operation to ensure conformance to customers' specifications
Stacks, sorts, and bundles cut material according to bill of lading instructions
Records data concerning amount and type of block used from duties performed
Education: High School diploma or GED required
Must be 18 years of age or older
Ability to follow instructions and read production orders
Experience with computers including various manufacturing programs
Ability to use measuring gauges like tape measures
Able to work fast and efficient and willing to work long hours during busy season
Understanding of basic math, reading, and writing skills
Ability to effectively communicate
For this position, it is required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds
There is a repetitive use of hands required with simple grasping and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds

The Machine Operator at our Indianapolis, Indiana plant requires the knowledge and understanding of all jobs related to the Specialty Compound production and a basic understanding of the Lean Six Sigma principles. 2nd Shift Position Available
STARTING PAY: $17.12/hour + SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

Responsibilities Completing routine production activities on the shift, including maintenance requests, in order to keep production flowing. Tracking changes in the process to ensure that the system is functioning properly.
Working with changeover process to ensure continuous improvement in timeliness and completion. Communicating the information required to all shift associates to maintain operation of the plant. Ensuring little downtime between runs by ensuring belt adds are ready prior to the active run being completed and determining the disposition of leftover WIP from that run.
Acting as a team player motivating associates to pull them together as a team to accomplish the daily tasks. Leading Lean / Six Sigma Process teams in the completion of projects and the preparation of the presentations. Assisting the Control Room Supervisor in determining and implementing the training process for all production workers.
Ensuring that continuous OJT is occurring and that all operators are involved in providing this training. Completing QA testing and making appropriate corrections as required. Following inventory and making adjustments as necessary in HFA.
Monitoring weekly cycle counts of raw materials. Responsible for maintaining a good 5S environment. Recognizing and communicating safety hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
Setting up systems and tooling in preparation for changeovers and the next production run. Monitoring quality of product by maintaining awareness of testing results and parameters. Qualifications
HS Diploma / GED / or equivalant. Requires an individual with the ability to perform basic reading, writing, arithmetic and computer functions. Associates in this position will receive specialized training in the operation and function of the Banbury Operating System as well as Quality Testing that may be required for this material.
Manufacturing background preferred, not required. Familiarity with Lean concepts a plus.

Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain

Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.

Completes necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data,

Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing bindery requirements which indicate the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided; independently makes decisions on the type of equipment to be used. Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock. Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability and quality of paper stock being used and to prevent machining impressions on the printed materials.
