School Bus Driver/Custodian
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Meets qualifications as set forth by Delaware Code Title 14, Section 7 relative to Delaware School Bus Drivers requirements.
Possess or able to obtain a Delaware Commercial Driver's license class B or higher with "P" passenger endorsement, "S" school bus endorsement, and air brakes endorsement.
Satisfactory completion of the Delaware School Bus Driver Background check.
Satisfactory completion of the Delaware School Bus Driver physical.
Satisfactory completion of the Child Protection Registry.
Satisfactory completion of the Delaware School Bus Driver Training class.
Cooperative attitude and ability to work well with students, parents, school personnel, and co-workers.
Ability to handle mental demands that include the ability to manage multiple priorities, while effectively communicating with students.
Ability to respond and remain calm in emergency situations.
Attends custodial training classes as may be required.
Is able to meet the minimum physical requirements of the custodian job including climbing a ladder to a minimum of 12 feet and to lift 50 lbs. and carry it for 50 feet.
Demonstrates the ability to review and understand oral and written instructions and/or directions
Holds and maintains a valid motor vehicle operator's license
Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to Start of Employment
Job Duties:
Operate a school bus in a safe and efficient manner on the established bus route at all times.
Conduct a thorough pre-trip and post-trip checks on the vehicle to ensure that the vehicle and safety equipment is operational, that no child is left on board and the vehicle is clean and secure.
Complete initial training and yearly recertification training satisfactory.
Report any mechanical failure or operational issues to the Transportation Supervisor or designee.
Communicate with students and parents effectively about student behavior and bus safety requirements.
Reports incidents, accidents, or misconduct immediately to Supervisor r designee as required.
Keep interior of bus clean and swept along with keeping windshield, mirror and rear glass clean.
Display and enforces approved standard of personnel hygiene and grooming, including appearance, cleanliness and appropriate dress code.
Completes and submit all required paperwork for students' behavior, bus maintenance, and pre-trip and post-trip.
Preforms required fueling of the bus at designated location.
May operate school bus on field trips or extracurricular activities.
Shall perform other task and assume other responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.
Clean walls, floors, carpets and other interior building components by mopping, scrubbing, waxing, shampooing or vacuuming.
Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.
Performs basic carpentry, painting, and glazing repairs.
Washes windows
Empties and cleans wastebaskets and garbage containers. Transports trash to the disposal area.
Disinfects bathrooms, replenishes soap and paper supplies
Moves and arranges furniture, hang drapes and window shades.
Operates a variety of custodial equipment such as wet/dry mops and vacuums, scrubbers, carpet shampooers, buffers and lawn equipment.
Sweeps sidewalks and patios and shovel snow.
Cuts grass and maintain grounds as necessary.
Operates motor vehicles-picks up and delivers a variety of supplies
Maintains regular on-time attendance.
Represents the school and the school district in an ethical and professional manner at all times.
Adheres to all policies and procedures of the Indian River School District as established by the Board of Education and the Superintendent.
Practices and demonstrates safe work habits.
Demonstrates good judgment in the proper use and storage of chemicals and other work related supplies.
Summary:
Indian River School District is looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with students and the public to become a custodian/school bus driver. This job will require the applicant to have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver License with the School Bus, Passenger, and Air Brake endorsements. Once the applicant successfully completes the computerized tests at Department of Motor Vehicles to receive their CDL permit the applicant will then work with a Certified School Bus Driver Trainer to train to successfully pass the Department of Motor Vehicles Road Test. This position would be a year round position with duties split between being a school bus driver and custodian.

Requirement: Previous line painting/striping indoors/outdoors experience preferred, including parking lots, parking garages, and/or highways.

Job Summary
Summary:
Installs and maintains interior and exterior building wall finishes and surfaces with paint, coatings, wall coverings, plaster and other repair materials. Removes and installs wall trim and cove base materials, or other accessory items as needed to complete the work professionally and safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Selects proper tools and equipment including, but not limited to, paints, brushes, rollers, spray guns, drop cloths, rags, ladders, scaffolds, tape, cleaning materials, etc.
Selects pre-mixed paints or prepares paints to match specific colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances.
Transports material and equipment to the job site or arranges for the transport of heavy or bulky items.
Prepares site by covering furniture, equipment and floors with drop cloths and masking doors, windows and other trim where required.
Prepares surfaces including cleaning, minor repair and patching of metals, wood, masonry, and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary. Installs, removes, and replaces cove bases, ceiling tiles, wall mounted items, and similar accessory items needed to achieve a complete and finished appearance.
Performs caulking, sanding, taping, application of special finishes and color matching, waxing and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary.
Makes minor repairs to spray and roller equipment, simulates wood grain, marble, brick or tile effects.
Recommends substitute materials or colors to improve and expedite work.
Requisitions and receives materials and equipment, and maintains simple records and time reports.
Cuts stencils and stencil surfaces with lettering or decorations.
Paints signs on such surfaces as cloth, bulletin boards, walls, doors, equipment, etc.
Installs wall coverings and similarly applied materials.
Freehands highlighting, shading and counter-shading and apply stipple & glaze finishes.
Removes, repairs and installs ceramic tile floors, walls and ceilings.
Tapes and spackles drywall in preparation for painting.
Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other filler.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1 year of trade school or 2 years of experience as Painter in a similar sized institution.
Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools.
Some exposure to extreme degrees of heat, noise, dust and dirt areas requiring infection control.
