As a Melt Operations Controller you will be responsible for charge make-up and delivery of iron. You will also set, adjust and operate controls of one or more induction or arc furnaces to melt metal for casting purposes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Operates control station to monitor and control melting station
Analyzes control signals
Controls melting operations
Detects deviations and initiates corrective action

Furnace Operator - Production Technician
Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking a Furnace Operator for our Biddeford, ME location.
The Furnace Operator performs the operations needed to heat treat, anneal and temper parts utilizing various high temperature furnaces and ovens. Maintains the highest quality and safety standards by following Praxair Standard Practices in all aspects of this job.
Reviews technical plans and job routers to ensure proper cycles are run on furnace
Initiates and completes all applicable paperwork for each furnace cycle
Ensures proper cycles, temperatures, and gas flows are used for each furnace cycle
Ensures oven temperatures are properly used for each furnace cycle
Monitors Furnaces during cycle for proper performance
May connect or disconnect various gas flow lines to furnaces
Utilizes overhead crane system to move retorts up to 5000lbs and 2000F degree temp in and out of furnaces
Reviews furnace charts at completion of cycles and report discrepancies to supervision

Gas Furnace Engineer
The ideal candidate will have experience in the design and development of residential gas furnaces. Strong knowledge of combustion systems, blower systems, control systems, and other related furnace components is important. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and applying gas furnace combustion technology to ensure compliance with regulatory emission requirements and equipment reliability targets. You will also serve as a technical expert and mentor to more junior engineers.
In this role, you will interface with product development engineers, lab technicians, model makers and designers. You will also be collaborating with members from other functional groups such as Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Suppliers, and Advanced Technology Development.

Assist with the development and training of standard operating procedures polices and quality standards utilized in glass melting refining and batch and cullet operations.
