Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: 1. Performs complex high quality repairs to finished surfaces of aircraft furniture in the shop and on-board aircraft.
Applies finish to furniture using spray equipment and other manual/mechanical methods. 2. Interprets material specifications to ensure finished product meets design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail. Coordinates with Design group to ensure compliance with customer approved design samples. 3.
Complies with and champions Safety, 5S and housekeeping. Ensures the protection of aircraft interiors (PTP). 4. Mentors and trains lesser skilled technicians. 5.
Works to develop and implement process improvements that address safety, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma tools. 6. Utilizes the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and sign-off work. 7. Assists in developing initiatives to meet individual OGSM requirements, as required.
Additional Functions: 1. Accepts Lead responsibilities when needed.
Oversees projects and coordinates with Lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians. 2. Conducts safety audits and assists team members in doing safety audits. 3. Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs. 4.
Develops YI@W (Your Ideas at Work) as the opportunities present themselves. 5. Assists in monthly 5S audits. 6. Performs other duties as required.

A Concrete Finisher is a person with the skill and experience necessary to perform a variety of construction activities relating to the layout, preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete. This position is expected to perform all aspects of concrete work with minimal direction from a crew foreman. Projects are throughout the Midwest and will require traveling. Current assignments may include Kansas, Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
Work relating to the layout, site preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete on a variety of military/government/highway type construction projects. While not inclusive, the following are some of the typical tasks expected of this position:
- Ground preparation and setting forms to required pitch and depth;
- Cutting/bending/setting reinforcement;
- Spread, level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float;
- Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straightedge;
- Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods and place rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill;
- Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Must be able work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, and squat as required for various duties.

Perform hand finishing of milled parts and skins using hand and power tools to remove machine marks, burrs, irregularities and blemishes. Complete and fair machined contours, edge finish, surfaces, and form-specified radii and chamfer on edges per BAC specifications. Employment in this position also flexion/extension, handling, standing, use of low impact vibratory tools, walking, twisting and bending at the waist, carrying and lifting less than 10 pounds, pushing/pulling less than 10 pounds, rotation of head/neck, contact with metals, exposure to noise and atmospheric conditions, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm, ears and feet.

Remove burrs and break edges using routers, scrapers, and sanders.
Work with and assist higher classified employees to finish detailed parts and/or skins.
Use air powered hand sanders to remove machining marks, surface irregularities, and mismatches.
Break sharp edges of parts, as required, prior to hydroform and stretch press operations to prevent cracking of parts.
Clean surfaces using solvents and/or water, as required. Wipe dry.
Use hand trimmers and machine trimmers to remove tooling tabs.
Use hand-held power tools with rotary files, abrasive wheels, and sanding discs to fair contours, finish edges, chamfers, and radii.
Mark parts using vibrator pencil, steel stamp, or tags.
Package parts, (protective wrap, inter-leaf), as required.
Check own work for conformance to specification.
Contact lead, supervisor, or co-worker with questions when assistance is needed or when any problem arises.

Under general supervision, Concrete Finishers perform skilled work in concrete laying, finishing and repair. Incumbents perform standard concrete finishing work on a variety of concrete jobs, such as, manholes, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and steps. Assignments may also include custom concrete, stamped concrete and decorative design and color work.
Two vacancies currently exist in the Street Maintenance Division of the Department of Public Works. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of six (6) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three months.

Job Description *
To prepare patterns for assembly and to prepare soluble cores for pattern molding; wax welds multiple components using fixtures to maintain dimensional conformity; repairs wax patterns and soluble cores in accordance with quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Objective: to assemble pattern components and/or make dimensional alterations to patterns.
A. Reads techcards and engineering instructions.
B. Assembles wax components into visually and dimensionally acceptable patterns; may use specialized fixturing.
C. Modifies patterns or soluble cores using various hand tools and wax materials.
D. Inspects modifications with special gauges and other measuring devises.
E. Occasionally inserts ceramic cores in wax patterns and maintains dimensional integrity (TBO only).
Objective: to fix broken or damaged patterns and soluble cores and restore to dimensionally acceptable condition.
A. Replaces broken features by wax welding fragments or by using other wax supplies to reconstruct missing areas.
B. Fills voids and reforms damaged contours by attaching and shaping stock wax.
Objective: to work patterns and soluable core surfaces to meet visual inspection criteria.
A. Removes flash, mismatch and other surface positives using a variety of hand tools and materials.
B. Fills or patches negatives using paint wax, melted stock wax, hot pencils and other tools and materials.

Concrete Finisher III
Serves as lead worker in the preparation for construction, maintenance and repair of concrete projects. Performs a variety of the most difficult, complex and precise concrete duties to provide a pleasing appearance and a sound structure.
Examples of Duties
Interprets and transfers information from surveyors stakes, cut sheets and engineering plans to stake or pins that workers can follow for setting of forms. Sets lines and grades using surveying instruments, string line level, eye level and checks accuracy of established grades on forms before concrete is poured. Assures that concrete has proper slump and consistency during pouring operations.
Sets forms for curb and gutter and sidewalks. Insures that forms are set in accordance with established grade stakes. Builds and sets wooden forms and installs necessary stay braces, utilizing various types of wall ties and spreaders.
Pours concrete to specified depth-utilizing techniques, which will prevent the segregation of materials. Finishes by screening, floating, troweling, and brooming to provide a pleasing appearance and a sound structure.
Edges and cuts joint in concrete using appropriate tools. Finishes top surface of curb after forms have been removed using approved methods and tools.
Performs skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled labor duties as required. Performs pick and shovel work on road construction sites, loads and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, timber, heavy mechanical equipment, and warehouse supplies.
Operates a variety of motor vehicles: pickup truck, single and tandem dump trucks, with standard or automatic transmissions. Removes debris due to storms and removes snow and ice from city streets.
Assists the Streets Operations Supervisor in training Concrete Finisher I and II personnel in the proper methods and techniques for concrete finishing and safe operation of equipment in accordance with worksite safety requirements.
Performs related duties as required. Typical Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the GED preferred. Extensive experience in concrete construction, maintenance, and repair work to include reading and interpreting engineering plans for curb and gutter, sidewalks, and roadways.
Extensive experience in planning curb and gutter layout from information from survey grade stakes and cut sheets. Thorough knowledge of environmental conditions affecting concrete pouring and curing; thorough knowledge of concrete mixing, form setting and finishing. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of training and overseeing employees in appropriate work methods. Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or must possess a valid State of Virginia Driver's license and obtain the CDL within 180 days of employment. Must have a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
Any person offered employment in this position shall be required to successfully pass testing for controlled substances. Any person offered employment in this position shall be required to successfully complete a Virginia Criminal History Background Check.
Performs duties under the direct supervision of the Streets Operations Supervisor. Occasional overtime required.
Some duties may be performed under adverse weather conditions; during nights, weekends, and holidays in emergency situations. This is a non-exempt position.

Length of Contract: Temporary assignment with possibility to transition to permanent employment.
Pay Rate: $12/hour
- All Finisher positions will begin on day shift for 1 week for training. This shift is 12 hours either 5pm to 5am OR 5am to 5pm.
Shift rotation schedule:
week 1: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat. Rotation
week 2: Sun, Weds, Thurs. (4 days one week, 3 days the next)
Overtime is paid on 4-day work weeks.
Candidates must be willing to take online and Blueprint Testing onsite to qualify.
As a Finisher placed with Kelly Services, you will be responsible for performing finishing techniques such as buffing polishing, grinding, deburring and etching on machine products.
Achieve proper size finish and quality following drawings and quality specifications
Performs routine visual inspection and uses basic measuring equipment
Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area without supervisory approval
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an Assembly/Warehouse Environment
Ability to read measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, scales and indicators
Ability to read blueprints
Ability to pass pre-employment questionnaires
Comfortable working in a dusty environment
