Apprentice Furniture Repair Technician
Overview
If you are an experienced Furniture Repair Technician, or you have the motivation to learn a new trade, and understand the importance of customer service, we want to talk to you! Our Furniture Repair Technicians are trained to fully repair all furniture whether it be stitching upholstery; wood and leather repairs, or repairing mechanisms in motion furniture, while in the customers' homes. Using our company vans, our Furniture Repair Technicians travel to our customers' homes to perform in home repairs and provide excellent customer service.
- The position will be based out of our Reading, MA store. However, training will take place in Nashua, NH.*
Responsibilities
Refinishes and patches damaged furnitureincluding paint, stain, enamel or lacquers; mixes paints and stains to match existing finish
Repairs, replaces and rebuilds damaged leather or upholstery furniture or mechanical parts
Sets up and operates such tools as power drills, sanders, saws, and other tools required for repair
Completes repair related paperwork and other documentation as required
Safely drives company van to customers' homes to assess and repair damaged furniture
Effectively educates and informs customers on repair techniques and/or warranty programs
The pay for this position is $17 per hour.
Qualifications
Must be able to lift up to 110 pounds
Must have a valid license and possess a safe driving record
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively in difficult customer situations
Must have a positive and professional demeanor

POSITION SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensures upkeep of ship's furniture and upholstery according to company's standards
Does re-upholstery and varnish when required
Repairs broken furniture
Assists Housekeeping on turnaround days for emergency maintenance inside staterooms and suites.
Maintains an accurate inventory of all fabrics, tools available on board
Installs carpets and wall paper when required
Assists guests with repairing broken luggage, bags, shoes etc. as required by the Chief Purser.
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years' experience as a Upholster, experience can also be enhanced by experience also as a Carpenter.
Advanced level of English verbal and writing skills, including the proper use of English grammar is required.
Moderate administrative skills; computer literate – Word/excel and maintenance systems required
EDUCATION
- At least a High school diploma or foreign equivalency is required.

Restock individual supplies.
Utilize a steamer or iron to ensure the production of quality components.
Utilize Lean manufacturing principles as trained or directed.

Build furniture up with loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt, and/or foam padding to form smooth rounded surfaces.
Make, restore, and/or create custom upholstered furniture, using hand tools and knowledge of following sketches and design specifications.

Summary/Objective
Upholsterers make/assemble furniture and products for Lippert Interiors. This position requires making, repairing, or replacing upholstery for furniture/products.
Essential Functions

Three years of upholstery experience.
