This challenging and rewarding career is responsible for conducting Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated leak surveys under PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) Pipeline Safety Regulations Part 192. This position requires the successful incumbent to work weekends, on call, overtime, holidays, and after normal business hours as needed for emergency response and/or as business needs require. In addition, this position requires a great deal of walking, lifting, and working in all types of weather conditions.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Conducting leak surveys on gas facilities that fall under DOT requirements.
Classifying, recording and notifying proper response personnel with regard to gas leaks.
Maintain accurate daily logs.
Use handheld data computers to accurately record inspection information.
Assist other departments or sections with locating gas leaks.
Notifying proper response personnel to emergency situations including Fire and Police.

Perform Nitrogen/Helium Leak Detection and Nitrogen Purging activities. Deliver training courses on use of Nitrogen/Helium Leak Detection work packs, Leak Detection parameters such as pressurization, system limitations and acceptable leak rates and Leak Detection equipment utilized to perform the testing and inspection including but not limited to mass spectrometers, cryogenic liquid nitrogen converters, air driven gas booster pumps, air-fed membrane nitrogen production units, liquid nitrogen vaporizers, liquid nitrogen tanks, gas pressurized storage quads and high pressure regulators.
