This position is responsible for maintaining and installing Xcel Energy gas mains, services, reg-stations, meter sets and respond to customer gas leak inside and out. We anticipate the need for one or more Gas Service Fitters in Grand Junction, Colorado. The starting rate of pay for this position is $40.38 hourly.
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: install, maintain, and perform required inspections on all gas meters, regulators, mains, services, and odorization equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial customers; operate mechanical trenching/excavating equipment and related tools necessary to install gas mains and services
Respond to routine and emergency orders
Evaluate operational characteristics of gas-fired appliances and associated equipment, ie fuel line flex connectors, vents; PE fusion; operational surveys; locating; meter reading; valve maintenance; and material handling
Must have a High School diploma or GED
Must be cross trained
Must have completed an approved apprentice program and be qualified as a journeyman
Must have a current CDL
Must live 30 miles or 30 minutes of the Grand Junction Service Center
Must be able to lift 90 pounds safely
Must pass a Gas Respirator Qualification Test and will be subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing

Gas Main Foreman
The Foreman is a field management role, responsible for organizing and supervising the safe daily operations of utility construction projects. Manage the field operations with a focus to safety, compliance, efficiency, cost management and innovation. Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.
The individual would be responsible for the installation, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation, and deactivation of steel gas pipeline by welding and controlling high-pressure gas flows. Individual would also be responsible for building and installing gas meter sets greater than 1000 cubic feet.
An employee with the qualifications of a Fitter (PIO) Fitter-Arc who performs specialized work in connection with the installation, maintenance and operation on pipelines and other facilities without immediate supervision. Performs arc welding. and may be required to perform Oxy-acetylene welding. Performs other duties such as making complex layouts, hot tie-ins on larger diameter pipelines, operating main line valves, and operating the larger pressure control equipment. May work alone or with the assistance of one other employee in a lower classification.
This is a DOT covered classification and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

The Plumber / Steampipe Fitter is responsible for inspecting and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures related to the heating, water, gas and drainage systems. This individual will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of medical air and suction systems, medical gasses to include the distribution, piping, and terminal connections in addition to being responsible for maintenance and repair of heating and cooling hydronic systems.
