Role and Responsibilities
Responsible for multiple tasks involving the take down of used commercial doors and / or equipment, installation of new commercial doors, operators, equipment and multiple service categories on doors, operators and associated equipment.
Evaluate appropriate commercial door and installation/service requirements for each job.
Prior to commencement of work, determine if appropriate tools and equipment are working and / or available.
Establish the needs of each job and document the full installation/service needed.
Determine if added work needs to be performed and the measures needed to assure approved installation of product.

What you will do
Under direct supervision, completes assigned programming, commissioning, basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of fire / security systems per contract obligations.

Meter Technician I
Installs and repairs residential and commercial water meters within the guidelines of work orders and Augusta-Richmond County and department rules and procedures or any other duties as assigned. Reports to the Small Meter Maintenance Supervisor or other designated person and works with co-workers and the public to provide operational support. Performs all other duties as assigned. An entry-level Electric Meter Setter works as a trainee under close supervision assisting journey-level Electric Meter Setters in the performance of their duties. Trainees receive extensive classroom training as well as on-the-job training. A journey-level Electric Meter Setter installs, changes and removes a large variety of electric meters and metering equipment on the premises of industrial, commercial and domestic consumers, and performs related work.
One year of full-time paid experience as a helper in an electrical trade; or
Completion of eight months as a Utility Pre-Craft Trainee (UPCT) with the LADWP performing duties as a helper in an electrical trade.
All entry-level positions in this class are temporary training positions as defined in Civil Service Commission Rule 5.30. An Electric Meter Setter must successfully complete an extensive on-the-job and classroom training program within eighteen months in order to receive an appointment to a regular Electric Meter Setter position.

The multiple-choice test will be proctored and administered on-line during a single session. Candidates invited to participate in the on-line multiple-choice test will be able to take the test from a remote location using a computer with a webcam and a reliable internet connection. Candidates will receive an e-mail from the City of Los Angeles outlining the dates and specific steps on how to take the multiple-choice test on-line. It is anticipated that the remote proctored multiple-choice test will be administered between MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2019 AND MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2019. Meter Servicer - Meter Specialist
Under supervision, perform work pertaining to disconnecting, reconnecting, removing, installing and testing single-phase and three-phase kilowatt-hour and demand meters up to 260 volts; work delinquent accounts; read meters; investigate irregular readings, energy diversion, and inactive usage; contact customers, test, inspect, maintain, service, pack and transport measurement equipment and other equipment as assigned, and perform associated duties.
Essential Job Functions:
NOTE: Individuals must be able to perform all duties of Meter Servicer to be considered for entry into job as Meter Specialist.
1.) Disconnect and reconnect electrical service to customer, as directed, by removal or installation of single and three-phase kilowatt-hour meters or combination demand meters not to exceed 260 volts, for service orders, credit action, inactive usage, or as otherwise directed.
2.) Install, remove, connect, and disconnect all self-contained single-phase and three phase meters and services and repair such installations.

Nature of Work
Performs a variety of skilled work and services in the installation and maintenance of natural gas meters and related apparatus in order to ensure efficient gas service to residents and businesses. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, and responding to customer issues. May also involve performing work alone or apart from other workers.
Must attain precise set limits, tolerances, and standards and may be subject to standby rotation. Position works inside approximately thirty (30) percent and outside approximately seventy (70) percent with exposure to all types of weather and traffic conditions; exposure to gas fumes, chemicals, fire explosion hazards, and burns from contact with heated elements. Protective clothing includes safety shoes and glasses, and gloves.
Heavy physical effort is required to perform job functions including ability to walk up to three (3) miles each day, climbing ladders, balancing, crouching, squatting, and reaching above shoulder height; frequent pushing/pulling up to eighty (80) pounds and lifting up to ninety (90) pounds from floor to waist. May install gas appliances and gas system components as needed and directed.
Equivalent to a high school diploma PLUS two (2) years of experience as a journeyman natural gas fitter is required. Experience working with natural gas distribution systems is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Valid driver's license and Journeyman Gas Fitter License required. Must become Operator Qualified (OQ) within sixty (60) days of hire. Position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City policy.
