Print Band Machine Operator
You would be responsible for unloading, cleaning, and loading transfer molds using breaking tooling and various hand tools; also for set-up and operations of print band slitter, as well as painting and wiping bands for readability. This position is on second shift.
Interpret order specifications, set-ups and/or special instructions and band specification sheets.
Responsible for the proper care and general maintenance of all molds, tools, gauges and fixtures used. Responsible for routine equipment/fixture inspection. Report repair/replacement needs to supervisor.
Operate automatic mold breaker to open and close transfer molds. Perform loading/unloading transfer mold process which includes; using correct blades for molds, removing molded band shots, cleaning excess material from blades, screws and mold, loosening molded shots on blades, trimming excess flash and placing in water bath to cool.
Operate and adjust automatic Mold Sprayer. Adjust and make up mold release for sprayer. Clean molds using brushes and air hoses.
Set-up, operate and check thread tension on winding machine to wind proper web for molding, per specification. Set-up includes ensuring automatic spray fixture is properly aligned for complete coverage of blades and spray tank contains solution. Ensure detent is engaged properly and appropriate cord is being used per guidelines.
Set-up and install tooling on slitting machine to slit bands per specifications. Prepare and adjust slitting head using micrometers, verniers, shims, spacers and optical viewer; Adjust slitting machine per specifications and guidelines.
Perform slitting, making critical minute adjustments as required to produce quality bands within specification.
Set-up paint conveyor line, which includes the assembly of paint guns, paint preparation and routine cleaning and maintenance; Operation includes washing bands before painting, correct placement of bands on conveyor line, and performing quality inspections to ensure proper paint coverage; Run hot stamp machines and place bands in racks for drying; Segregate bands into storage bins by pattern and style.
Proper use and disposal of various cleaning solvents; keeping accurate and detailed chemical usage records essential.
Record and report all finished production and other department required reporting.
Train, assist, and support other team members in problem solving, and meeting department goals; continuously review current processes and search out methods to improve product/process quality, reduce waste rework, and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process.
Participate in department ELS training, Kaizen, and 5S for process improvement; assist in other areas as required.

To assist Press Operator in the set up of the Press Machine as well as observe and maintain proper running of the Press to apply images to polyethylene film for a quality customer approved printed film.
Task 1: Job Change
(Job changes potentially occur approx. every 1-12 hours. However, a roll change occurs approximately every 45-50 minutes throughout the job order, with the exception of the 10 color press, occurring every 9 minutes. The average yard per roll is 8,400 yds. Printing 440-1200 feet per minute. (Note: yardage varies by gauge. Usually gauge run is 1.25 mil.))
Utilizing a hoist, load cart with new roll. (Approximately weight of 380-500 pounds, requires 56 pounds of force to push.) (An empty loading cart weighs 166 pounds and requires 17 pounds of force to push. Cart measures 38" to handle, 28" wide and is a concave design.)
Assist Operator with installation of plate cylinders and/or Anilox rollers with the use of a pneumatic hoist during set-up of Press machine.
Remove chuck from finished roll and insert it into the new roll on loading cart. (Chuck with core weighs 48 pounds.)
Transport pallets with pallet cart 10 feet from press to conveyor belt. (Pallet cart is 37" to handle and handle width is 14". Cart requires 14 pounds of force to push when empty, 17.5 pounds of force for foot pedal operation and 7 pounds of force to release handle.)
Place shaft in roll and load onto conveyor belt with overhead hoist. (Shaft weighs 6 pounds.)
Take new roll to the back of the press. Using overhead hoist guide roll and load onto machine.
Remove waste from core. Unlock shaft and unload onto cart using overhead lift. May need to transport core to rewind and load core onto rewind using control buttons.
May have to use sledge hammer (weighs 5 pounds) to pound chuck into core.
Use air hose to secure the chuck in the new core.
Note, in addition to the pallet cart, a pallet jack may be utilized to retrieve and/or move materials as required.
Task 2: Ink and Adjustment Job Change
Change ink buckets/pans.
Keep ink hoses and cylinders/ink pans full.
Transport old cylinders to storage area with a cart and pick up new cylinders for next job. (The cylinder transport cart requires 40-65 pounds of force to push with 5-8 cylinders on it.)
Pump ink into press from 55-gallon drums using the air pump. (Air pump weighs 9 pounds.)
Make hand adjustments for plate pressure. View job after each adjustment (Viewer is set at 65" eye height.)
Place ink hoods back into place before starting the press for the next job.
Splice old roll and tape to new one to feed new roll through press machine.
Assist operator with set up operations and maintaining running of machine.
Will need to climb stationary ladders with hand rails that are attached to different platforms of the machine during this process. Also, at times, a rolling ladder may be used with hand rails. (Press ladders vary from approx. 5-8 steps.) At times, you may be at least 20'-30' high, standing on various platforms of the machine.

Task 3: After Press is Running
Check ink to maintain appropriate levels; fill as needed.
Observe press scanners to ensure the film is running through machine correctly.
Add solvent as needed to ink from attached faucet or air pump.
Assist operator with maintaining running of machine.
Task 4: Waste Dumping
Once 55-gallon barrel is filled with film waste, roll barrel (barrel is on caster-rollers) to robotic dumpster.
Lock barrel into place and stand away from cage.
Use buttons on control panel to activate dumpster.
Task 3: Housekeeping
Clean Press Machine. Ensure lock-out, tag-out has been properly done before cleaning begins. Will need to climb stationary ladders with hand rails. Also, at times, a rolling ladder may be used with hand rails. (Press ladders vary from approx. 5-8 steps.) At times, you may be approximately 20'-30' high, standing on various platforms of the machine.
Clean up any spills.
Maintain a clean work area.
Maintain area complies with Good Manufacturing Practices and other prerequisite food safety programs.
Report damages or worn equipment to Supervisor.

About the Opportunity
The Elyria Site (Lear Romec Brand) offers the most reliable positive displacement pumps in the industry consisting of vane, gerotor, and spur gear configurations. Products include lube and scavenge pumps that are ETOPS rated; high contamination resistance gerotor pumps for oil applications; high pressure spur gear pumps; centrifugal fuel pumps and centrifugal coolant pumps. Our pumps are used on many General Aviation, business jet, commercial transport, and military aircraft applications.
We need a talented individual in our Fluid Management Group at our Elyria, OH facility to fill the role of a CNC/Lathe and Grind Operator to learn and adequately perform the duties and responsibilities of the Liner Cell team trainee occupation.
Process rough material through various machining and allied operations in a team oriented cell.
Responsible for maintaining cell inventory.
Set up and operate various machines within the cell, inspect parts, deburr, perform flush and chip check, and perform various sub assembly operations. Use manual mills, drills, and various gauges when required.
Provide a finish in accordance with the manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements including but not limited to removal of burrs and edge breaks.
Identify and mark parts to blueprints and/or applicable specifications. Clean and move parts as necessary.
Pass an annual eye exam.
Responsible for product verification and process control including using necessary measuring devices.
Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes.
Rotate to different work stations within the cell. Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell.
Document all non-conformances through specified data collection procedures.
Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell.
Complete all required paperwork.
Insure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement.
Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
Complete all required documentation including but not limited to operator inspection records, job routers, NCR's, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor. Utilize computer to access various databases .
High School Diploma;
Must have previous CNC machining and milling experience.
Must have basic reading and writing skills; Requires basic math skills to make necessary calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions;
Requires a working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, CNC controls and machines, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
Requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching;
Requires occasional lifting parts, fixtures, and containers, weighing up to 50 pounds to a height of 5 feet;
Requires frequent lifting and loading of parts weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of 5 feet; Requires use of burring tools
