Master Gear Machinist - Gear Grinder
Plan sequence of operations, lay out work, set up and operate multiple types of gear grinders.
Perform machining operations from drawings, sketches, engineering drawings and oral instructions. Perform difficult and complex machining involving exacting and coordinated tolerances. Determine cutting tools to be used and methods of holding and aligning work. Improvise and adapt toolings, attachments and other machining adis. Perform progressive machining operations as required.
Plan and set up machine tools to fully utilize machine's capacity and minimize amount of machining and number of setups required. Check own work for conformance to specifications.
Utilize a working knowledge and application of shop mathematics. Perform bench operations as required. Perform duties of Precision Machinist classification as required. Machine field tooling as required.

Liaisons assist the Coordinators in administering grant services at partner schools, including recruiting students; and data collection of GEAR UP students in their building (such as transcripts and attendance data). This position is part-time position and work load will vary depending on need.
Compensation: $10.27 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to assist Coordinator with collecting student data from the school district: Free and Reduced lunch status; Transcripts/Grades; Attendance records
Assist with the identification and enrollment of GEAR UP students: Collect enrollment forms; Mail initial parent student letters; Send out passes to excuse students from class
Fill out relevant paperwork as needed if meeting with students or parents
Make referrals to other supportive services as necessary
Attend GEAR UP events, trainings, and field trips as required of the position
Coordinate tutoring and other student needs with school liaisons, teachers, parents and GEAR UP staff
Adhere to GEAR UP grant and school district policy and procedures
An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis.
Provide written documentation of attendance/activity
Assist Coordinator with supervising youth as a chaperone at GEAR UP events (if desired)

This position is for a Landing Gear Design Engineer. The candidate shall have advanced and thorough knowledge in landing gear, mechanisms, actuators, hydraulics, brakes, steering and stress and deflection of structures, bearing selection and surface treatments with a broad knowledge of all related disciplines. The candidate will coordinate efforts across a wide range of functional organizations, such as Airframe Design, Quality Assurance, Planning, Tooling, Structural Analysis, Materials & Processes, Flight Sciences, Test and Manufacturing.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Develop, test, and validate new or existing landing gear designs.

The position requires a broad knowledge about bevel and hypoid gears. All commonly used methods, manufacturing machines, cutting, grinding and lapping processes as well as the existing software systems to design and optimize bevel and hypoid gears.
Ability to operate one or several of today's existing bevel gear design program systems to perform the entire process, from the evaluation of all basic gear parameters to tooth contact analysis, undercut check, cutter and blade calculation, machine summary calculation and optimizations with programs that utilize higher order kinematic corrections.
Work in cross functional teams across the entire organization from contract management over the engineering, research & development, and manufacturing, to sales including customers is expected as it is a modern and most effective team configuration.
Integral function in complex team setups.
Conduct technical presentation within the company at customer sites and also in front of larger academic/scientific audiences at national and international conferences.
Writing of technical papers, based on developments conducted at The Gleason Works and as required and approved by senior management, as well as preparing Power Point presentations about all relevant scientific subjects is expected.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Knowledge to understand or interpret all required manufacturing data, for all production machines including flank form coordinate files.
Higher level skills in mathematics and calculus as well as physics, three dimensional geometry, electronics and computer science are required. Familiarity with bevel gear flank form simulation techniques. This includes the understanding of cutting force prediction and the formation of complex three-dimensional chips.
Ability to author technical papers, manuals and also be able to write texts which describe inventions in order to support the creation and filing of patent applications. It is expected, that the candidate wrote several technical papers and reports.
Ability to conduct investigations in Matlab or equivalent simulation programs.
Ability to read and understand bevel gear related programs (e.g. Fortan), code and ability to make adjustments and changes as required.
Basic knowledge in the theory and manufacturing processes of gears, especially bevel and hypoid gears.
Basic knowledge of differnet languages (Spanish, Italian, German) is desired.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with courses in advanced mathematics, calculus, and machine dynamics. Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering preferred.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in practical metal working.
6+ months experience in gear transmission design preferred.

This is a full time position that will focus on maintenance of aviation landing gear components in accordance with CMM instructions.
Major and minor inspection and assembly of landing gear components, assemblies and sub-assemblies, assisted as required.
