Special Needs Medical Director – Geneticist – Minnetonka, MN
The Special Needs Senior Medical Director will be responsible for providing clinical strategy, leadership and execution in support of UnitedHealth Group's Special Needs Initiative. The candidate will focus on children and youth with special health care needs and their families as well as other micro populations in need of differentiated or customized support across the life span. This position will report directly to the General Manager of the Special Needs Initiative at UnitedHealthcare. The Special Needs Senior Medical Director will collaborate with other UHG clinicians and resources supporting the Special Needs Initiative and will also build relationships / partnerships with experts in the external marketplace. More specifically, the position will focus on a variety of efforts including guiding and supporting UHG's strategic priorities related to Genomic Medicine both as part of the Special Needs Initiative and beyond, furthering industry education in the special needs space, guiding clinical strategy for the Special Needs Initiative (with a focus on helping people in the diagnostic odyssey and with ongoing treatment support, supporting member case reviews as needed, and other efforts as required. The position will collaborate with stakeholders across UHG and the industry to develop solutions that will help families better navigate the system, make better decisions, and improve their quality of life.
Guide UHG's efforts in genomics working across Optum and UHC. This includes development related work focused on consumer and provider experience, industry relationships, process improvements, data collection, research strategy, plan design, and technology
Work with the development team to drive clinical strategy supporting the care delivery agenda (helping families in the diagnostic odyssey and with ongoing treatment support)
Work with the broader special needs team on evaluating and evolving the diagnostic odyssey solution , including identifying potential partnerships with care delivery systems and clinicians across the country
Work with the team to advance condition-specific roadmaps, laying out expectations and milestones for families, providers, and other members of the care team

The Department of Medical Genetics and Genomic Medicine at Saint Peter's University Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Geneticist to provide clinical care as part of a comprehensive team and to assist with the development, establishment, and administration of a clinical genetics residency/fellowship.
The Department is led by Dr. Debra-Lynn Day-Salvatore who is recognized as an expert in the field of genomic medicine.
Saint Peter's University Hospital has provided comprehensive clinical genetic services since 1992, during which time ~34,000 individual patients were seen and over 47,000 patient visits logged. The Department has been designated by the state Department of Health as central Jersey's Regional Center for Newborn Screening and General Genetic Services. In the last 15 years alone, patients were referred for evaluation, diagnosis, management, treatment, counseling, and emotional support for over 2,000 different conditions.
As department chair, Dr. Day-Salvatore also oversees one of the largest comprehensive Lysosomal Disease Therapy Centers in the United States, trials orphan drugs, and provides a broad range of pre-conceptional, prenatal, and postnatal genetic counseling as well as pregnancy-specific management and treatment of maternal metabolic, lysosomal, and genetic conditions.
Highly skilled internists, family practitioners, or pediatricians with a strong interest in genetic and genomic medicine may also be considered.

The incumbent is a Research Geneticist Animal in the Genetics, Breeding, and Animal Health Research Unit of the United States Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), located in Clay Center, Nebraska. The mission of the USMARC is to improve production efficiency while maintaining a lean, high quality, and safe product. The mission of the Research Unit is to define the role of genetics in animal, pathogen, and microbial community interactions in domestic livestock production with the goal of developing effective genetic strategies to improve meat quality, animal health, and production efficiency. The incumbent is responsible for carrying out genetic and genomic research with the goal enhancing health, efficiency, and sustainability of sheep within Project "Genetic Research to Enhance Efficient and Sustainable Production of Beef Cattle and Sheep". The incumbent will lead experiments using sheep in support of ARS National Program 101 (Food Animal Production). Experiments are often multigeneration and multidisciplinary, involving over 2,000 breeding ewes. The incumbent is responsible for understanding fundamental constraints of the sheep industry, identifying research opportunities, designing and conducting innovative experiments, analyzing data, writing manuscripts, and disseminating results and technical advice to many segments of the sheep industry.
Research objectives for sheep genetics are: 1) evaluate sheep germplasm for favorable maternal characteristics in a pasture lambing system, 2) evaluate parentage identification strategies for sheep, 3) evaluate selection strategies for resistance to ovine progressive pneumonia and resistance to parasitic helminths in sheep, and 4) identify genomic variants associated with efficient production and resistance to health challenges. Methodologies used to address these objectives will be quantitative genetics analyses, whole genome association analyses, analyses of genetic markers for productivity and disease resistance, and large-scale experimental design.

Pediatric Geneticist - Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is recruiting a part-time (with full-time option if desired) faculty member to the Division of Pediatric Genetics (Position #00031148) as a clinician on the non-tenure, multi-mission academic track. The successful candidate will help provide inpatient consultations for children admitted to Wolfson Children's Hospital and UF Health-Jacksonville, and outpatient continuing care in our multispecialty clinic in conjunction with genetic counselors.
The appointment will be at the non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate Professor depending upon experience and qualifications. Night and weekend call responsibilities will be shared equitably with other division faculty.

Loyola University Medical Center is seeking a clinical geneticist certified by the ABMG to lead a newly developed integrated program. The successful candidate must have completed residency training in medical genetics, but may come from any discipline.
The clinical practice will include concentration in cancer, cardiac and prenatal genetics. The medical director will provide oversight for all clinical genetics activities on the Loyola University Medical Center campus and will collaborate with various clinical departments. Clinical and basic science research opportunities as well as educational opportunities in our fellowship, resident, and medical student training programs exist.

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, together with Children's Health Dallas, seek a medical geneticist. This clinician will join a growing clinical Division of Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism, directed by Dr.
Ralph DeBerardinis. The Division is responsible for the diagnosis and care of children with genetic and metabolic diseases at Children's Health Dallas, and in the neonatal units of University-affiliated hospitals, including Parkland Hospital, a large county hospital with over 16,000 deliveries per year. We seek applicants at any level of experience in dysmorphology and/or inborn errors of metabolism.
A unique component of this position is the integration of our clinical Division with the Children's Medical Center Research Institute (CRI), a new and highly collaborative basic and translational research institute dedicated to performing transformative research related to pediatric health (http://cri.utsw.edu/). Expansion of the clinical Division is synchronized with the initiation of a Genetic and Metabolic Disease program within the CRI, with the major goal to discover new molecular mechanisms underlying inherited diseases in children. A robust clinical Division is an essential component of this vision.
Children's Health Dallas is a 500 bed facility that provides the majority of pediatric inpatient care for the Dallas metropolitan area. The Division if Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism has a full range of support staff and an ACGME-approved residency program in Medical Genetics.

What you'll do
Develop methods and perform analyses that will advance the understanding of human genetics and shape 23andMe's consumer product
Initiate long-term R&D projects that bring research advances into 23andMe's consumer product
Work collaboratively with members of the 23andMe Research, Engineering, and Product teams
Provide scientific support to a variety of teams across the company in a way that makes scientific knowledge accessible to a wide audience
For senior scientists: supervise, develop, and mentor junior scientists. Manage teams to execute complex projects.
What you'll bring
Ph.D. in Population Genetics, Statistical Genetics or a related field (e.g., Genetics, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Physics, Mathematics)
Evolutionary or population genetics research experience; focus on human population genetics is a plus.
Experience in algorithm development or machine learning approaches is essential.
Hands-on experience working with very large datasets in Python or R; experience with C/C++ is a plus.
At ease in a Linux environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Enthusiasm for working in a highly collaborative environment.
