As a geophysicist in an unconventional asset you will support the multidisciplinary team in identifying exploration and development areas for resource identification and maturation using all your geophysical skillsets and tools. You will be required to support the operations team in selecting appropriate completions decisions (placement and orientation of fracs) and monitoring fracture stimulation operations with microseismic.
Candidates are expected to be able to interpret seismic reflection data, recommend and incorporate all aspects of seismic modeling. The geophysicist will partner with geologists in preparing drilling recommendations and will be expected to recommend seismic acquisition programs including the determination of seismic acquisition and/or reprocessing parameters. Minimum Requirements Candidates are required to meet the following minimum requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Geophysics or a related science as appropriate to the required discipline. An advanced degree is preferred and will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by one year for master degree and two years for PhD.
We are targeting 10 years' experience with at least 5-10 in unconventional plays including shale or tight gas, with some US experience in unconventional hydrocarbon basins required. We will consider candidates with more or less experienced depending on the quality of their experience. Other desirable skills include strong geophysical workstation skills, strong fundamental interpretation geophysical skill set, including well to seismic correlation, seismic mapping, velocity model building, depth conversion, 3D visualization, reservoir properties from seismic (RPFS) work flow, AVO analysis, acoustic and elastic inversion and survey design, regional geolophysical evaluation of unconventional plays, structural characterization of natural fractures and their impact on unconventional reservoirs, sequence stratigraphic analysis, unconventional play evaluation, geophysical support for an unconventional play or development, reservoir characterization in unconventional hydrocarbon plays (tight gas, shale gas, unconventional oil, and/or coal bed methane). Duties & Responsibilities You will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Apply technical geophysical tools to assist in prospect creation, evaluation, and maturation of unconventional resources (shale gas and liquids and tight gas)
Use seismic interpretation, analysis, modeling, petrophysical tools and integration software packages to partner with development geologists in preparing drill recommendations.
Understand strengths and weaknesses of different packages. Apply tools in fit-for-purpose fashion.
Determine seismic acquisition and/or reprocessing parameters that would improve understanding of unconventional resource plays.
Keep abreast of emerging technologies.

The Permian team is looking for an experienced Geophysicist who will be responsible for analyzing the subsurface using a range of methods, including gravity, magnetic, electrical and seismic methods. This position collects and manages all geophysical data and is responsible for controlling the quality of the data collected and interpreting the data. As part of a multi-discipline team, this position will incorporate well data into geophysical subsurface analysis. This position is expected to perform as an individual contributor and assist in training lower level geologists/geophysicists. Create and utilize pre-stack and post-stack geophysical attributes and analysis to assist in interpretation; build 1D and 2D synthetic models and log crossplots to evaulate seimic response from changing rock properties to predict viability of AVO, Inversion or multi-attribute analysis.
Evaluate completion risk based on mappable faults on 2D and 3D seismic and provide information to completions engineers.
Quality check seismic data for purchase and supervise the reprocessing of data including specialty products (i.e. inversion, HTI, VTI, AVO).
Monitor work plans while continuously updating them, keeping management apprised of activity.
10+ years as an industry geophysicist, 15+ years preferred
Excellent personal communication skills across disciplines, willingness to share information and work collaboratively
SMT Kingdom software required - strong proficiency desired
Experience in integrating geophysical and geologic data to map structural and stratigraphic changes

You will demonstrate previous experience as an effective decision maker in land, transition zones, and deep marine time processing, with a preference given to transition zone and deep marine seismic time processing.
