This is a 12-month contract (contingent) position with medical benefits only, 5 days of paid time off and all paid holidays recognized by the City of Aurora during the duration of the contract.
The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first come-first serve basis; as soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This position performs maintenance, repair, and warranty inspections/preventative maintenance on a wide range of automotive and heavy equipment, primarily fire apparatus and equipment. Responsibilities include:
Perform repair and maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Inspect, diagnose and repair all automotive and equipment electronic and mechanical systems
Perform diagnosis using electronic scanners, computer and vehicle/equipment tools and/or software
Perform new unit prep and equipment installation
Repair or rebuild component systems in automotive and specialized equipment
Read complex electrical and hydraulic schematics using diagnostic flow charts
Respond to emergency service calls
Maintain vehicle history records, parts inventory records and daily labor
Perform additional duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years progressively responsible experience as a mechanic in a related area with responsibility for a large mixed fleet. Experience with heavy equipment including fire apparatus is preferred.
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements on a year for year basis.
Valid Driver's License.
Class A CDL must be obtained within 6 months.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications required within one year.
Knowledge of a wide variety of electrical, hydraulic, pumping, fuel and mechanical systems; maintenance and repair tools and equipment; standard safety regulations and procedures associated with the assigned tasks; and standard computer systems and software applications.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; accurately diagnose, identify and repair related potential or existing problems; perform basic math computations; maintain related records; read and interpret detailed instructions and diagrams; provide and maintain necessary hand tools to perform the assigned tasks; perform assigned tasks in all weather conditions; and perform moderately strenuous activity.
Skill in the use of tools and equipment used in the performance of the assigned tasks.
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
Physical Demands: Moderate to heavy physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds without assistance or 100 pounds with assistance; frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds; regular walking and standing; frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing and crawling; considerable eye/hand/foot coordination to operate tools and automotive equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles; vision to read manuals, gauges and meters; speech and hearing to receive and provide technical information and instructions.
Work Environment: Works in an automotive shop/yard with frequent time spent outdoors in all types of weather conditions; regular exposure to dust, noise and fumes related to automotive repair.
Equipment Used: Standard business and professional equipment and tools including computers with applicable diagnostic and records management applications. Drives vehicles and equipment in and out of shop; uses personal tools and equipment related to heavy equipment and vehicle repair.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Using Backpack blower the ability to work with a group to thoroughly blow all peanut and trash debris from all areas of ball park including by not limited to: seating bowl, concourse, parking garage, suite balconies picnic areas etc.…
Ability to secure and store seat covers and seat cushions in designated areas of the ballpark per supervisor/lead instructions
Ability to read and understand cleaning chemical product use instructions.
Night Blower Drivers must have a valid Ohio Driver's license, and understand you are subject to random driver's license checks
Night Blower Drivers must have the ability to learn and operate a Cushman cart to transport all trash to designated trash compactors
Compactor Attendants must have the ability to monitor all four compactors ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
Compactor Attendants are to stay in assigned areas during entire shift
Compactor Attendants must sort all recyclable materials and ensure they are placed in the correct collection receptacle
Compactor Attendants must have the ability to learn and operate cardboard bailer
Required to become member of Service Employees International Union, Local Number 1
Report any maintenance or safety defects to post-game Supervisor, Lead and / or Security Control (x4501).
The ability to detect and report defects in blower equipment to Supervisor or Lead
All of the above determinations are to be done in conjunction with the post-game cleaning Supervisor and may be dictated by weather conditions and game ending time.
Perform special tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
Ability to use safety equipment while working such as back brace, protective eye wear, and hearing protection.•

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Must be able to lift and transport 50 lb. backpack blower.

Sr. Glass Science Engineer
Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sr. Glass Science Engineer located in the Johns Manville Technical Center in Littleton, CO.
This position plays a key role in our support of glass production operations in North America and Europe from our corporate research and development location. Responsibilities include monitoring and controlling the glass chemistries and supporting operations through application of laboratory measurement technologies for trouble shooting and problem solving, developing new glass formulations for cost savings and improved glass properties, and supporting equipment and process designs in the batch processes in capital projects. Ideal candidates will have an advance engineering degree, working knowledge of glass chemistry and production processes, experience in design and operations of batching systems, and willingness to work directly (onsite when necessary) with our production facilities and capital projects, including leading and planning plant level trials. Your role and responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this position is to modify existing Heraeus Photovoltaic products and to bring new products to market by formulating and developing glass platforms with the understanding of the materials science and solar cell physics used in the development of finished products.
Solves complex technical problems, applies technology and new ways, develops and recommends new alternatives by utilizing expertise to accelerate development of new products and the modification of existing products. Independently plan, direct, and conduct research activities supporting the design of new products to customer or industry specifications or the modification of existing products for new applications.
Analyze/identify/solve problems or customer complaints regarding existing products and originate formula or process changes for new applications.
Engage internal and external raw material and equipment suppliers.
Maintains regular interaction to provide detailed explanation or technical responses to both internal and external parties. Function as a resource to sales, marketing, technical service, and manufacturing.
Remain abreast of technical developments in the field; obtain information through literature and patents. Attend technical conferences, trade shows, and educational courses to remain current in the field as it relates to existing and future technologies; ability to present at same.
Author technical reports, technical papers, patent applications, project updates, and technical overviews as required. Review and provide updates to product data sheets and technical data packages. Record precise results and findings in laboratory book, database and/or files. Handle confidential information with care.
Follow safety guidelines for handling materials with the use of protective equipment as required. Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area, laboratory instruments and equipment.
What is required for this role:
A minimum of a Masters Degree in Materials Science or related field and a minimum of two to four years of laboratory experience are required. Two (2) years of specialized experience should be in glass science. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. PhD preferred.
Must have an understanding of laboratory-scale glass melting and fabrication as well as glass characterization methods.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative. Self-starter with an attention to detail required. Must have a collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a diverse, global team.
Must have proven analytical techniques such as but not limited to the use of statistics and Design of Experiment. Modelling of composition-structure-property relationships using statistical, neural network, and more advanced predictive methods is preferred.
