Fire Apparatus Engineer Academy 27 Instructor Staff
The Operations Training and Safety Section recruitment is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. Only applications from current qualified OCFA Fire Captain and Fire Apparatus Engineer will be accepted.
Operations Training and Safety is now recruiting up to nine (9) instructor positions for the upcoming Fire Apparatus Engineer Academy 27. These positions require a ten-week administrative assignment on a forty-hour workweek schedule (4/10 - Monday through Thursday), beginning July 13, 2018 and concluding September 20, 2018. The first day to report to the FAE Academy will be July 16, 2018. Instructors will be eligible for training staff assignment pay of 7.5% plus 10% in addition to their base salary.

Fire Apparatus Engineer
The salary indicated for this position corresponds with a 56 hour average duty week.
This promotional opportunity is open to current, qualified Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) non-probationary firefighter unit members only. All other applications will not be considered.
Operate fire apparatus in the suppression of structural, aircraft, wildland and other types of fires and in response to various emergency situations; and maintains and makes minor repairs on fire vehicles, equipment, and facilities. At least two (2) years' experience as a full-time career Firefighter with the Fire Authority or a fire agency that the OCFA assumed fire protection responsibility for, who has completed probation as a Firefighter at the time of application.

We are looking for highly motivated and self driven Regional Account Managers in Southern California with a high mechanical aptitude who will partner with our customers and build long-term relationships.
The Regional Account Manager role is to work with government agencies in an assigned territory to generate new business from both existing customers and new customers.

Responds to emergencies; operates and maintains various fire suppression vehicles and equipment; participates in required training classes and education; assists in maintaining building quarters and grounds; and assists with department administrative duties.

Responds to emergencies as a driver and operator of fire vehicles and equipment;

This position will work as a member of Tesla's Materials Test Lab to support materials and part level testing, focusing on glass products.
Perform & document a variety of testing on glass products, including
Mechanical – ring-on-ring, 4-pt bend, blunt and sharp object impact, abrasion, etc
Environmental – UV, thermal, humidity, chemical, etc
Characterization – color, surface profile, edge and bulk stress, etc
Design and build fixtures for mechanical testing and prepare test samples
Manage glass-related laboratory assets, ensuring all equipment is maintained, calibrated and
serviced on time
Support engineering staff in the root cause analysis of test failures , laboratory management in
the planning, procurement, purchase, and installation of capital expenditure
An Associate Degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required.
Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and fixtures used in the testing of glass (experience with automotive glass or other laminated glazing is preferred)
Experience with high speed video capturing of impact events is a plus

The glass science engineer will be responsible for completing projects pertaining to cost reduction, manufacturing technology, process development, product innovation, and manufacturing operations. This person will also provide technical support, specifications, and engineering solutions to ongoing research or engineering projects. They will work independently and as part of larger teams on large, complex projects.
The glass science engineer in this role will be someone who is data-driven and works with a sense of urgency to deliver results on-time and with high quality. This role requires an individual who can work both in the laboratory and on the manufacturing shop floor settings. The successful candidate will also possess the following characteristics:

Be a team player who creates a positive, collaborative working relationships
Holds themselves accountable
This position will report to the Glass and Materials Science Discipline Leader in R&D. This position has no direct reports.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
A degree in Glass Science, Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or similar engineering field with:
Bachelors: 2-5 years' experience
Masters: 0-2 years' experience
PhD: 0 years' experience
English language – fluent
MS Office – advanced
Experience with various materials characterization techniques such as XRF, DSC, SEM/EDX, TGA, FTIR, XRD, and XPS
Experience in the glass industry
Statistical DOE experience or LSS green belt
Foreign language proficiency a plus
Up to 20% travel, both domestic and international.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
