The work includes:
Set-up, load and operate scoring, equipment to crack-off, inspect and pack the sheet glass product.

SCOPE AND IMPACT
The Technical Specialist – Glass Science position is responsible for the implementation of significant improvements in manufacturing capabilities as well as significant improvements in performance across the region, while ensuring the standardization of best practice processes.
It will be important for the SME to maintain strong relationships globally. The Technical Support Specialist SME will work directly with Plant Managers, Production Managers, Finished Products Managers, Plant Engineers, Batch and Furnace Leaders, Plant Quality Managers, Regional Quality, and GETC across the region. The incumbent is required to influence rather than direct.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Engineering Degree or higher in related field (Glass Science, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering).
Fracture mechanics experience a plus.
Experience managing and leading others to change and improve technical processes a plus.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Glass plant experience desired but not required.
Strong fundamental computer skills including use of e-mail, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
This position reports to the Technical Capabilities Leader.
There are no direct reports to the Technical Specialist – Glass Science position.
This role will involve regular travel throughout the North America region (approximately 20%).

Materials Technician - Glass
This position will work as a member of Tesla's Materials Test Lab to support materials and part level testing, focusing on glass products.
Perform & document a variety of testing on glass products, including
Mechanical – ring-on-ring, 4-pt bend, blunt and sharp object impact, abrasion, etc
Environmental – UV, thermal, humidity, chemical, etc
Characterization – color, surface profile, edge and bulk stress, etc
Design and build fixtures for mechanical testing and prepare test samples
Manage glass-related laboratory assets, ensuring all equipment is maintained, calibrated and

Support engineering staff in the root cause analysis of test failures , laboratory management in
the planning, procurement, purchase, and installation of capital expenditure
An Associate Degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required.
Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and fixtures used in the testing of glass (experience with automotive glass or other laminated glazing is preferred)
Experience with high speed video capturing of impact events is a plus

This position works in our glass production and warehouse facility located in Neenah, WI. This position works where needed moving and storing materials, pulling and prepping customer orders for delivery in the warehouse and/or cutting, tempering and handling glass in accordance with customer orders in production. This role requires attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
Builds wooden crates for shipping glass.
Load and unload product safely using forklift and pallet jacks.
Puts away products and equipment in an organized manner.
Pick glass orders utilizing packing lists and receipts
Inspect all products at every stage of assembly and delivery preparation.
Safe use of power tools including; table saw, nail gun, glue gun, etc.
Perform physical inventory daily and as needed.
Perform glass deliveries as needed using Omni van or box truck.
Pre-stage raw material (glass) according to work orders and place finished product in appropriate staging areas in accordance with established glass handling guidelines.
Set up, operate and perform basic maintenance on all machines (cutter)as working on them.
Responsible for operation of cutting, edging/seaming machines. Must produce a finished product within standard tolerance.
Responsible for maintaining work area, inventory control, quality control in relation to the product being assembled, and meeting production needs set by management.
General housekeeping to include vehicles, warehouse and office spaces to maintain a safe working environment.
