Ensures effective management of department's labor and expense budget
Remain consistent with lean six sigma principles, ensure the development of a continuous improvement culture within the Plant by involving relevant salary and hourly workforce in the on going identification, development and implementation of improvements to the manufacturing process / performance, ie: implementation of lean six sigma principles.
Communicates and directs the application of prescribed safety and environmental regulations

SCOPE AND IMPACT
The position's emphasis is to provide direct supervision and leadership of the furnace operations, batch mixing and batch delivery systems through the most efficient use of manpower, equipment and energy to provide high levels of technical service, while working in partnership with the Production and Quality Managers to produce glass containers at continuously improving levels of quality and efficiency. Responsible for technical competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the overall performance for the batching and furnace operations.

I. Slag,DeOx, and prepares air master Melt heats in a variety of alloys for pouring into ingots and castings.
J. Pours test bar material to the casting specifications for each heat.
K. Rebuilds Master Caster bottom pour ladle systems. This includes Backpacks, Stopper Rods, Nozzles, and Hosts.
F. Weighs, marks, and documents all heats correctly throughout the master melt process.
Objective: to maintain air master melt and master caster power supply and furnace systems.

Keep the holding furnaces on the die cast machines full of proper alloy of metal and at proper temperatures. This process, called hauling metal, must be done in a safe, efficient, and timely manner as to keep production running always while minimizing costly mistakes such as overfilling furnaces, overfilling ladles, spilling metal, letting furnaces run too low on metal, mixing alloys, etc. Must safely and efficiently support the production requirements and assure the proper alloy is provided for the parts being cast.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Keep transfer (bull) ladles, furnace, and die cast holdings properly cleaned and/or heated.
Keep scrap hoppers emptied and identified.
Keep alloys separated. This applies to all metal including those stored, in any furnace, or in scrap form.
Keep all areas cleaned including but not limited to melt rooms, work areas, tools/supplies and properly stored. Daily chipping, cleaning, fluxing, and skimming of breakdown furnaces. This also includes Striko Holding Furnaces. (clean, fill funnels, and pouring spouts. Coat as needed).

Properly handle paperwork, sampling, and barcoding of all incoming metal/materials.
Capable and willing to work overtime.
Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions/hazards immediately. Wear required personal protective equipment.
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to read and understand written directives. The predominate forms of instructions are written, visual, and verbal.
Properly handle all department paperwork including labor cards, production sheets, check sheets, metal hauling sheets, barcodes, audit logs, furnace cleaning sheets, scrap cards, flux/dross cards, etc.
Forklift certification required.

Boiler Tender (664-183)
The Boiler Operator operates, maintains, and repairs boilers and large tonnage chillers, in accordance with Air Force Instruction (AFI) and Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements. The operator fires boilers and stops and starts high pressure boilers, large tonnage chillers, and large HP air compressors. (i.e. 25hp and above). The operator observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation.
The operator adjusts controls to insure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high temperature water, in accordance with AFI and PWS. The operator maintains boiler operation log; cleans, oils, and makes minor repairs to boiler room equipment; and following prescribed methods, treats boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for such things as acidity, causticity, and alkalinity.

Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
Follows furnished information directives; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, & Professional Association)
Must obtain an Illinois State Class II Boiler License within 60 days of hire date, based on previous experience.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience operating boilers up to 1600 hp.
Ability to use: technical manuals, technical bulletins or manufacturer's specifications.
The ability to accurately read: measuring devices, testing equipment and or instruments.
Must be available to work other shifts as directed, to include week-ends and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalency.
Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record and proof of valid insurance.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.

- Lead the design of safe processes and specification of equipment, ensuring that ergonomics is considered in design, and potential safety and health hazards are identified and eliminated during project execution;
- Lead the design of environmentally compliant processes and specification of environmentally compliant equipment, and ensures that all permit requirements are considered and addressed in the design, and that potential environmental issues are identified and addressed during project execution;
- Develop scopes, specifications, schedules, and investment grade cost estimates for multi-discipline industrial manufacturing capital projects in North America with value up to $60M;
- Develop, guide, review, and present project feasibility studies and business cases that accurately identify project benefits, risks, and returns;
- Utilize project management and glassmaking furnace experience to ensure successful project execution with respect to quality, technology, cost, and schedule;
- Promote safety culture, and lead teams to drive a zero-incident project environment;
