Position will begin August 25th, 2018.
The applicant must demonstrate a strong and consistent engagement with both national and international communities within the field. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The selected candidate will teach studio courses at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
The position includes extensive creative/scholarly activity; student advising; committee and service work. An active presence and participation in area activities is required. This will include oversight and management of undergraduate and graduate curricular development, coordinating of the glass area, and fundraising/budget management.
In addition, the individual will assist in recruiting for the program locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The holder of the position will assist in strengthening collaborations with the corporate sector to encourage interdisciplinary innovation and entrepreneurship. The position holder will continue collaboration with technical colleagues, particularly material scientists and engineers.
The individual will oversee the glass area outcomes for the MFA program (i.e. fostering an environment where cultural, technical, and conceptual concerns are explored and strongly encouraged). The artist will emphasize multidimensional art making, including the creation of functional forms, sculptural objects and installations, as well as projects involving site specificity, community engagement and performance art. Required Qualifications MFA in Glass, Sculpture, or related discipline is required as well as a high level of expertise in hot work, kiln work, and cold work. In depth knowledge on equipment building, maintenance, and repair is required.
Preferred Qualifications Three years of teaching experience and professional experience is expected and a basic knowledge of flame-working and neon is preferred. Experience of coordinating or co-coordinating an area or program is preferred. A propensity of collaboration between fields and disciplines is preferred.

Reports to : Focused Improvement/Program Leader Span of Control : 0 direct reports, provides technical direction to junior FI Batch Engr, Furnace Engr, and Furnace Development Program engineers in training. Glaziers - fabricate aluminum storefront window frames, curtain wall system frames, U channel style frames, set frames in opening, anchor frame in opening, set glass in frames, caulk joint around frame. Must be able to use power tools and hand tools, including drills, impacts, sawzall, chopsaw, powder actuated nail gun, spatula or trowel etc.
Industrial workers- An industrial worker is typically an entry level position beginning as a Glazier's helper, the industrial worker has the ability to learn both the fabricating and installation in the field of glazing and frames, with dedication and a good work ethic they can become glaziers.
Glass Handlers- Glass handlers may do a variety of work in a shop. They may run equipment that alters glass such as, tempering ovens, edgers - that bevel edges or smooth edges, hole saws - that cut holes in glass, package glass for shipping or crating, and various other jobs in a shop.
