The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Blend, grind, and polish surface of dies, and aid in hot form die change outs.
Acquire required tooling by using internal procedures.
Prepare and maintain surface finish of hot form dies.
Visually inspect dies for surface imperfections.
Weld dies when required to maintain surface finish.
Assist hot form operators in die change outs when needed.
Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.

The Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing all assigned vehicles for the refinishing and reassembly processes, following the written repair order and ABRA's operational excellence processes.
Pre-Op & Repair Planning: Thoroughly reviews each repair order prior to beginning work on vehicle. May assist Painter in pre-op by preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs.
Vehicle Repair: Completes all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specification and ABRA policies. After vehicle is painted the Prepper may wet sand/buff to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards. May prime, edge or jam replacement parts. Contributes to maintaining acceptable cost per paint labor hour.
Team Engagement & Problem Solving: Is an active and prepared participant in morning board meetings. Knows status of assigned vehicles and helps problem-solve on getting and keeping all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery.
Organized & Safe Workplace: Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines. Adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal. Participates in monthly safety meetings and utilizes information on the job. Follows vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters. Maintains a clean and organized work space.

Job Description: :
Perform exacting polishing, buffing, burring, rework and touch-up operations on a wide variety of machined parts.
Follow detailed instructions, prescribed procedures, ordinary drawings, operation sheets, specifications and other written or oral instructions.
Perform a variety of routine bench operations to rough and finish burr machined parts, assemble simple components, mark identify parts, prepare parts for subsequent machining operations or processing and other related bench operations.
Use air gun, flexible shaft hand polisher, polishing jack and belt sanders, together with assorted abrasive bob and discs, emery cloth, abrasive stones, rotary files etc., to break sharp edges, form, blend radii, chamfers and polish finished surfaces.
Select and install proper cloth wheel or brush on hand grinder or polishing jack, holding and manipulating part or wheel at correct angle and pressure to remove sharp edge, polish and buff surfaces.
Remove nicks, scratches and imperfections from finished surfaces, blend and polish to correct finish.
Check finish dimensions, finish broken edges, radii, etc.
Exercise care to avoid excessive removal of stock, defacing, or damage to contours or shape of part.
Occasionally use hand tools such as scrapers, files, burring tools, abrasive cloth, etc., to remove nicks, scratches and tool marks.
Break edges, file and finish bevels and radii and polish in confined and difficult areas.
Required to make up rag, felt and similar wheels by building up successive layers of glue and abrasive.
Perform routine and/or repetitive hand drilling operations as required.
Maintain necessary records.
Perform cut off operations on band saw or other related bench duties.
Maintain quality standards by checking work visually and with basic measuring instruments; record data manually or electronically as required.
Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level, including part marking.
Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.

Reports defective material to inspection immediately
