West Plains, LLC is a grains and animal feed ingredient supply company, with approximately 30 million bushels of owned storage facilities. The company is a leader in its geographic area of Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Missouri and Texas, with a growing presence in Mexico. We are looking for an experienced Grain Elevator Operations professional to run the elevator operations for our 20+ grain elevators across the USA. We are a family owned private organization and we are growing! This role will directly supervise 5-10 professionals in the Grain Operations group. They will also lead the capital investments projects for our facilities and acquisitions.
- Provide operational leadership for West Plains LLC
- Coordinate with regional managers for all elevator operations
- Ensure compliance with all West Plains LLC safety policies and procedures
- Make best and most efficient use of all West Plains LLC resources
- Maintain total compliance with all OSHA, state, and company safety standards
- Work with corporate HR group to determine staffing and HR needs for all operations team members
- Plan operational strategy at all assigned facilities
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Effectively communicate tasks, directives and policies with both senior management and supervised workers.
- 40% travel required
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture engineering, Agribusiness Finance or related discipline
- 10+ years’ experience in grain elevator operations
- 6-10 years’ experience supervising multiple grain facilities
- 3-5 years’ experience in Grain Merchandising is preferred
- Demonstrated experience with agriculture and farm equipment
- Demonstrated experience working in a multiple facility role

A Day in the Life:
An Elevator Operator works hard every day to ensure that our grain handling and storage facilities are in top-notch shape. This is a hands-on position requiring you to work outside in all kinds of weather. Your main responsibilities on a day to day basis is housekeeping and maintenance duties to keep our bins up and running and loading and unloading grain on both trucks and trains. You must learn and properly be able to start-up and shut-down all grain handling equipment involved with the elevator. You will be asked to complete confined space entries as well as cleaning grain bins. Safety is always our number one priority and we do everything we can to ensure the safest work environments for our employees, but there are some hazards involved with working in a grain elevator. These hazards include exposure to grain dust, electrical, fall, and trip hazards, and grain engulfment and entanglement. The Elevator Operator position rewards employees who pay attention, take initiative and work hard every single day to ensure that our customers are treated well and our grain stays in good condition.
The Cooperative operates under the "all hands-on deck" philosophy when it comes to getting things done. Therefore, employees are required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
What You'll Need to Do This Job:

More hours will be expected during harvest season and when trains come to unload/load grain.

- Merchandise overall grain positions in accordance with company policy.
- Create budgets and have full responsibility of the P & L statement.
- Implement and administer marketing programs with farmer patrons.
