Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Learn the proper use of the dot welding machine.
Have knowledge and understanding of the ISO Quality Policy.
Have knowledge and understanding of the Control of Non-conforming product.
Have knowledge and understanding of the ISO Procedures that apply to your specific machine(s).
Comply with company rules and the dress code.
Keep your assigned area and machine clean.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- -Plans operations by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and specifications.
- -Performs hands on manual grinding of metal and other manual tasks to deliver a component that conforms to the quality requirements specified by standard work instructions and part router.
- -Utilizes power driven hand tools, especially angle grinders and sanders on metalic surfaces. Also uses power driven drills, forklifts, trucks, and overhead cranes.
- -Reworks cosmetic defects per released procedures.
- -Loads parts, monitors, and operates automated processes.
- -Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- -Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.
- -Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- -Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- -Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned.
- -PLEASE NOTE: This role performs physical manual work such as lifting, bending, and the use of pneumatic tools.
- -High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school training desirable.

Reads blueprint for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground, and determines what grinding wheel to be used
Sets up machine to control length of stroke and pattern
Starts machine and activates controls to feed wheel against work piece

Under limited supervision, maintain the high standards associated with Oberg Industries and produce accurate high-quality components by inspecting parts before grinding to check for chips or cracks, verify the dimensions of the work piece to match with the dimensions on the blueprints, inspect parts that are received from other departments, offer input on how to improve the operations, record how much time is spent on each job, inspect blue prints for inconsistencies as well as set-up and operate manual surface grinding equipment. To remove gating material, blend and grind casting surfaces to meet customer specifications.
1.Finish Grinding Objective: to grind and blend gating and defect areas on metal castings, and provide surface finishing within dimensional tolerances; to remove the minimum amount of metal necessary to remain within specified tolerances.
A. Reviews technique cards and blueprints to determine grinding requirements.
B. Determines stock removal requirements and tolerances for removal of gate material or other added metal stock.
C. Determines acceptance limits for grinding and blending defects.
D. Uses counter-balanced belt grinders, fixed grinders, held-held grinders, air tools, and hand tools including files and mirrors to grind and polish casting areas.
E. Wears required protective shields, clothing, wrist supports, glasses and gloves during grinding operations.
F. Visually inspects castings during grinding operations to assure compliance with specifications.
G. Makes dimensional measurements on specified parts to assure compliance with specifications; marks undersized areas for further inspection.

Plan sequence of steps to achieve final outcome and desired product dimensions.
Position, align and secure machine parts in machine; set up c fixtures. Work with pieces having some shoulders, steps, and/or tapers.
Select grade of abrasive wheel according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attach to grinder. Determine machine speeds, feeds and stops for standard operations.
Program and set up CNC OD/ID grinders according to blueprint specifications and knowledge of the grinding process.
Operate grinder; make adjustments as needed. Add a flow of coolant to process to maintain the proper temperature of the work piece.
Use indicator, micrometer, vernier calipers, and various precision measuring equipment to set up and check dimensions and contours. Examine and feel surface of work piece for defects.
Maintain equipment and machines; perform preventive maintenance as needed.
Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for parts completed.
Train and guide assisting personnel on the grinding process.
Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
Requires one to three years of trades training or equivalent experience and two to four years of related machining experience. Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percent. Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include form grinders, micrometers, indicators, dressing units, diamond discs, and various other precision measuring equipment.
