Rexnord Aerospace supplies high performance spherical and cylindrical bearings, mechanical seals, gears and electrical components to commercial air transport markets. Set up and operate lathe, OD grinder, ID Grinder or Surface Grinder to perform a series of machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, facing, and grinding, on components used for the manufacture of precision mechanical components. Follow quality and safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Work from blueprints, process sheets, tooling instructions, and standard charts to identify component/manufacturing specifications.
Set up and operate various grinding machines to include ID, OD, Center-less, and Face Grind.
May be required to operate multiple machines.
Verify conformance of machined work-pieces to specifications using gauges and related measuring devices.
Inspect own work for correct dimensions and ensure that company quality and quantity standards are maintained and complete required documentation.
Compute such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.
Work with supervisor, programmer & support teams to resolve problem situations as required.
Rotate between various department work centers as required.
Set up and verify preset gauges for proper calibration as required.
Enters data into ERP system.
Supports RBS activities.
Use hand tools and manual machines as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Load and unload component piece parts with weights up to 25 lbs.
Capabilities and Success Factors
Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency in operating precision grinding machines
Requires a high school education or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Must be able to read and interpret work instructions in English.
Ability to record production data on standardized forms. Reports to Manager.
Moderate physical demand required to insert tooling, set up work centers, inspect work-pieces and make machine adjustments, which is equivalent to continuously lifting or moving light weight material. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for an entire shift.

Overview: Learn and understand the proper operation of the employee's grinding machine (ID, Jig, and OD). Be responsible for that machine, report any problems to Management. Perform HVC/HVOF thermal spray operations as required. Perform all basic measuring, grinding, masking, coating, and straightening operations. Inspect incoming work and complete related paperwork. A. Reviews tech cards and blueprints to determine grinding
B. Determines stock removal requirements and tolerances for
removal of gate material or other added metal stock.

Calibrate test equipment and maintain records.
Perform mechanical repair of roll grinding machines and fixed shop equipment.

CNC Machinist And Grinder - 2Nd Shift
Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Machinist on 2nd shift.
The LA facility has approximately 350 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
Capability to setup complex parts and operate machine without supervision.
Interprets plans, work order, blueprints or drawings to determine the necessary work required, full understanding of GD&T.

Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of aerospace parts, produce parts in accordance with the production plans, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
Ability to maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts.
Knowledge of dimensional measuring instrumentations and use of such tools to verify actual measurements of machined diameters, dimensions and features.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers.
Good verbal and written communication skills a must.
Familiarity with SPC principles and methods.
Ability to produce and inspect critical parts with tight tolerances and finishes, with minimal supervision.
Ability to logically solve problems and to keep assignments and projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
Aerospace experience preferred.
8 plus years experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering.
Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming.
Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.
Familiarity /experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
