BAE Systems York PA Site is seeking a Tool Grinder on 2nd shift.
The Tool Grinder sets up and operates various types of machines on the manufacturing floor of the BAE Systems York, PA site. Performs all types of grinding, honing and pre-set work to sharpen or repair all types of metal removal tooling for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Receives instructions and work orders from Process Supervisor, Assistant Process Supervisor, Lead Person or Self-Directed Work Team.
Handles material to and from work area using jib or overhead cranes or other material handling equipment (such as electric or manual hand truck) as required.
Interprets prints and sketches. Plans and determines work procedures for obtaining dimensions and finishes requiring close tolerances.
Sets up and operates any type of machine tool common to the trade, adjusting stops, feeds, speeds, and indexing or tapering attachments. Uses precision measuring instruments to verify accuracy of perishable tools required.
Build, assemble and repair cutting tools, utilizing holders, collets and related componentry or hardware.
Ensures process and workmanship (i.e. preset, certify) and documents findings on a personal computer or other data acquisition devices as required. Uses personal computer or other data acquisition devices as required.
Keep work area safe and clean.

The CNC Machinist will have responsibility for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines. This includes primarily CNC grinders as well as mills, lathes, drills, grinders, hone, lap, deburr, etc. The Machinist will also ensure that machines are properly tooled and may be required to make recommendations to modify programs as appropriate.
Additionally, the CNC Machinist will:
1.Set-up and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines, including grinders, mills, lathes, drills, grinders, hone, lap, deburr, etc.
2.Machine and/or tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
3.Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
4.Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances/specifications.
5.Perform inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure that parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications. Visually inspects parts to ensure they are free of burrs or damaged surfaces.
6.Provide input and recommendations for selecting, installing, and adjusting CNC and manual machine cutting tools to ensure they are consistent with type and size of material being machined.
7.Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements.
8.Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensure that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.
9.Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.
10. Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
11. Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards.
12. Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell.
13. Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
High School or GED and a minimum of 2 years of machining experience. Reads, understands and correctly interprets blueprints, planning and manufacturing specifications.
Demonstrated working knowledge of machining and/or testing related mathematical concepts. Has basic knowledge of inspection requirements and techniques. Rough burrs machined parts. May train, provide guidance and assist in developing lower skill level team members.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist.

Final Grinder 1St Shift
This position is responsible for operating machinery and maintaining product flow while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Candidate will be required to supply Marlins Stuffer operators with WIP product for final processing. Will fill and refill V-mag tubs and fill Marlin machinery by continuous emptying the final grinder.
Will set up and tear down area at the beginning and end of processing. Will be cross trained in other positions in order to help relieve for breaks and product and schedule changes. Must be able to continuously push and move 400 pound tubs on a continuous basis.
Lift up to 65 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds continuously. Lock out training is required. (Class certification done by Tyson Foods, Inc.

To remove gating material, and blend and grind casting surfaces to meet customer specifications.
Objective: to grind and blend gating and defect areas on castings, and provide surface finishing within dimensional
tolerances; to remove the minimum amount of metal necessary to remain within specified tolerances.
A. Reviews tech cards and blueprints to determine grinding

removal of gate material or other added metal stock.

We are seeking a Precision Grinder Trades
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Plan and perform a variety of grinding, polishing, and lapping operations in an engineering, research and development, and/or complex production environment.
As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.
Qualifications We Require
Work involves utilizing all types of precision grinding, polishing, and lapping equipment to produce piece parts, gauges, and model assemblies; and to grind and refurbish standard and special purpose cutting tools.
Responsibilities include operating state-of-the-art grinding, polishing, and lapping equipment that requires the creation, operation, and editing of various computer programs; generating profile drawings; performing complex and difficult setups using tools, cameras, microscopes, and other equipment; applying solid model CAD/CAM software to prepare standard and special computer-generated machine tool programs; providing technical oversight for fabricate-to-print work; collaborate with engineers and serve as a consultant on design and manufacturability issues; and act as a lead person which includes, but is not limited to, responsibilities for making schedule commitments, assignment of work to co-workers, and instructing or training others.
