Role Summary:This role will work with Engineers, Business Unit Leaders, etc. to understand requests and support production needs. They will use logic and troubleshooting to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions and determine equipment and procedures needed to complete jobs properly. Cutter Grinders must understand the implications of information for current and future problem solving and decision making. This role will select and use training methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
In addition, this position will:
Work within a teaming environment and pass off work and information to other shifts.
Monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are necessary and stop machines if problems occur.
Dress grinding wheels, according to geometric specifications.
Inspect and measure work pieces to ensure that dimensional specifications are meet.
Set up and operate grinding machines to grind carbide work pieces such drills, reamers, milling cutters, and inserts.
Inspect, package, identify and seal the finished or refurbished tool as specified. If defective product is produced the Cutter Grinder will
Contain defective product, determine root cause and make corrections as needed.
Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning and monitoring lubrication, and coolant levels.
Calculate numbers, widths, and angles of cutting tools.
Conduct tests and inspections of tooling, services or processes to evaluate performance and quality.
Monitor gauges and indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Read and understand process operation sheets, tooling sheets tech plans and associated documents.
Complete applicable special processes and operator certification requirements.
Understand part process flow (incoming/outgoing).
Housekeeping requirements (general regs and team regs).
Openness to learn change.
Knowledge of safety procedures.
Continual Improvement of quality and key Metrics.

BAE Systems York PA Site is seeking a Tool Grinder on 2nd shift.
The Tool Grinder sets up and operates various types of machines on the manufacturing floor of the BAE Systems York, PA site. Performs all types of grinding, honing and pre-set work to sharpen or repair all types of metal removal tooling for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Receives instructions and work orders from Process Supervisor, Assistant Process Supervisor, Lead Person or Self-Directed Work Team.
Handles material to and from work area using jib or overhead cranes or other material handling equipment (such as electric or manual hand truck) as required.
Interprets prints and sketches. Plans and determines work procedures for obtaining dimensions and finishes requiring close tolerances.
Sets up and operates any type of machine tool common to the trade, adjusting stops, feeds, speeds, and indexing or tapering attachments. Uses precision measuring instruments to verify accuracy of perishable tools required.
Build, assemble and repair cutting tools, utilizing holders, collets and related componentry or hardware.

Set-up thread rolling machines and auxiliary equipment (including vibratory feeders, ZEBRA equipment, and process monitors) per drawings and specifications.
Operate thread rolling machines and auxiliary equipment.
Perform daily maintenance on thread rolling machines and auxiliary equipment.
Perform quality checks and document (where applicable), using simple gages, precision measuring devices and visual inspection.
Perform safety checks to ensure safety devices are on and in working order (guarding and all safety equipment). Use proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
Manually handle parts from work-in-process containers to shipping containers. Move containers as required using pallet jacks and/or fork trucks.
Prepare and maintain accurate records (route sheets and count sheets).
Clean equipment and keep work area neat and orderly.
Participate as a Trainer when necessary.
To work in any other area of the plant by the request of your supervisor.
Usual manufacturing environment with regular exposures to noise and oils.. Moderate to high physical activity, involving routine lifting and pulling. Intermittent cold and hot temperatures.

Set up and operate Grinder; both manually and CNC operated. Hold tight tolerances and surface finishes to produce Aerospace quality parts from Thermoset materials.
