Do you enjoy taking equipment apart and then putting it together again or fixing equipment when it isn't working correctly? You will utilize your inner-tinkerer putting together mechanical assemblies for ViaSat, including large antennas, using light equipment and tooling. Role Summary:The Class C Mechanical Assembler will work at the Erlanger, KY service center to assemble and disassemble boilers and other large scale, power generation equipment and their sub-assemblies following blueprints and specific work instruction. This role is currently on second shift, but the position may require off shift support and periodic overtime.
As the Class C Mechanical Assembler, you will:

The Assembler I in Belleville, Illinois, is responsible for assembling and checking new machines, sub-assemblies; and disassembles and repairs new or used machines, as required, in a manner prescribed on process sheets and to dimensions specified on drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assembly.
Machine repair and rebuilding.
Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
Measure, mark, and scribe metal to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes, and rulers.
Operates drill press, grinder, welder, blaster, paint equipment, and small power tools to assist in assembly operation.
Verifies conformance of finished assembly or sub-assemblies to specifications to assure quality.
Conduct test runs with completed machines and subassemblies to ensure that parts meet operational requirements.
Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished assembly or sub-assembly.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Provide support with Material handling, shipping & receiving and kitting parts
Completes all necessary process, attendance, and quality records as required.
Other duties may be assigned.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Trade School Certificate, Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of 2 year(s) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in this field.
Prior experience as a mechanic preferred
Strong Mechanical skills: Precision assembly work on a variety of medium to large machine tools and are familiar with holding tight tolerance work (.001").
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
