About the Position: This position is located with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District, Operations Division, Physical Support Branch, Navigation Section, Motor Vessel Dredge Hurley, Memphis, TN 38103. Duty location is wherever the Dredge Hurley is located.

Work schedule: During the dredging season, typically May through November, all Hurley crew members, including this position, work a 15 days on

This position works a 12 hour shift, and may rotate between day and night shifts. During the non-dredging season, the crew works day shift only, with the vessel based at Ensley Engineer Yard, Memphis, TN, on either a 5-day 8-hour, or 4-day 10-hr schedule. During the dredging season, the Dredge Hurley will work in widespread locations in the Mississippi River, including 60-90 days in the vicinity of Baton Rouge, LA.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort is required while standing watch and operating the wheel and other controls. Somewhat greater effort is required in accomplishing housekeeping and general maintenance work. Occasional heavy effort is required in making and breaking tows, loading supplies and equipment, and accomplishing some repair work. Close hand and eye coordination is required when operating controls to maneuver vessel and tows in traffic and in confined areas. Extensive standing and walking may be necessary while standing watch.
Working Conditions: Incumbent works predominately in an enclosed wheelhouse, but is also subject to working out on deck for brief periods in all types of weather conditions.
Employee is exposed to injury from falls due to slippery decks and erratic movements of the vessel, and to the possibility of falling overboard. A life jacket is worn at all times when on deck. Operators are also exposed to a moderate degree of noise and vibration from the engines, and to greater noise levels and to soil from grease and other chemical substances when servicing or making minor mechanical repairs to engines and equipment.

CNC Machinist - LB Lathe Operator
The NC Tech A Operator will setup and operates CNC Lathes as well as inspect parts to blueprints using precise measuring tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Setup and run LB Lathes
Measure and inspect various features to close tolerances using calipers and micrometers
Read and interpret complex blueprints, planning sheets, sketches and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences
Selects and installs cutting tools, mount fixtures and work pieces, and load programs required
Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece
Select and set cutting tools as well as cutting depths, speeds and feeds required to produce parts per drawing requirement
Be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators and height gauges
Ensure parts are per print, work order standards are met, daily clean up is maintained
Run jobs in order set by the scheduler or lead
Count, properly box and move work order, parts to the next operation. Also, move the work order location on the computer
Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two years' experience operating CNC Lathes
Experience using basic shop math, ability to read precise measuring tools, and must be able to read and interpret blue prints using GD&T
Experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Requirements
- Must be a United States Person
- ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee or Refugee
Must have thorough working knowledge of shop math and geometric tolerance
Able to edit code at the machine
Able to upload and download programs.
Able to read blueprints and measure parts using various gauges.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision
Proven ability to perform all of the functions above
Strong interpersonal and collaborative team skills
Strong attention to detail
