SAIC is seeking a Navy Mk-45 5-inch Gun 54/62 Caliber Gun System Engineering Technician
Primary Work Location: Norfolk, VA, Aboard U.S. Navy ships (CONUS and OCONUS)
SAIC is seeking three Gunners Mate Technicians / Engineers to provide technical support and engineering services for Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 294, Norfolk, VA. The position will conduct engineering/technical evaluations, perform equipment functional checks, perform troubleshooting, test and analysis and equipment repair to correct MK 45 5-Inch Gun System, operation, maintenance, and connectivity faults. The position will provide Onboard Maintenance Training (OBMT) to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, and maintenance of MK45 Gun System and provide support during shipboard Combat Systems tasks including TSRA, INSURV and Tech Assist events.
Additionally, the position will:
Assist Ship's Force technicians and government personnel at assigned locations to analyze and resolve malfunctions detected during equipment operation and test.
Analyze equipment review and inspection data to determine source of fault, and recommend repair, replacement or other corrective action.
Suggest equipment engineering changes toward improving quality and reliability and to facilitate installation, maintenance and repair.
Prepare reports via 2-kilo, Prisms/ETC Software.
De-brief and write Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVR).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent.
REQUIRED GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Resumes must document general experience with a minimum of eight (8) years full-time hands-on technical experience within last 15 years in the operation, maintenance, testing, fault isolation and/or repair of mechanical/pneumatic/electrical/electronic systems/equipment incorporated in Combat C5I Systems
REQUIRED SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Resumes must document specialized experience with a minimum of four (4) years full-time engineering experience within the last 10 years in performing 5"/54 and/or 5"/62 Mk 45 Gun Mount maintenance, inspections and repairs. Resumes should include the ability to act in an independent position, while performing engineering support services such as Technical Assists, Material Condition Assessments, and Corrective Maintenance
OTHER REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated successful completion of Class "C" school training on the 5"/54 and/or 5"/62 Mk-45 Gun Mount systems (NEC 0879/0880)
DESIRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience conducting 5"/54 Gun Mount inspections and repairs at a Mobile Technical Unit (MOTU), Fleet Technical Support Center, Atlantic (FTSCLANT) or any Regional Maintenance Center (RMC).
Ability to interact with and lead multiple maintenance activities and effectively communicate technical information with senior engineers, technicians, Project Managers and Maintenance Team personnel
Working knowledge of general office computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Must have excellent communication skills to interface with numerous Engineering and Trades organizations and work with minimal supervision.
Good technical writing and organizational abilities are required.
Valid Unexpired U.S. Passport
Current First Aid/CPR training certification from nationally accepted organization (e.g. Red Cross, etc.)
REQUIRED TRAVEL: 20% (including aboard US Navy ships in foreign ports and at sea)

Gun Loader - Wireline
Knowledge of different gun types and what is needed for the proper loading of guns
Knowledge of ATF rules and regulations for storing and handling explosives
Knowledge of EB switch system and be able to load and fully assemble system
The Gun Loader - Wireline will be responsible for the loading and checking of gun systems that are used in district as well as maintaining of all paperwork associated with the explosives used in district.
In the role of Gun Loader – Wireline, you will:
Comply with all safety, health, environmental and quality Management System requirements, policies and procedures relevant to the position
Lead on ensuring technical compliance with the HSE requirements of the Company's stakeholders, customers and regulators
Ensure customer requirements are met according to jobs given to them by managers
Be responsible for quality control of all subs and associated equipment and use good judgment on all assembly aspects
Maintain inventory of switches, O-rings and associated equipment for all gun systems used in district
Takes new barrels, disassembles and prepares parts for loading
Precut detonating cord, feed through wire and ground wire
Install detonating cord and load charges
Install feed through wire and ground wire to charge holder
Install tube into barrel and install locking ring
Ensure compliance with DOT and ATF guidelines
Keep accurate inventory of all explosives
Problem solve perforating gun systems and implements to perforating guns
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution (OR Minimum 5 years of experience in gun loading within the wireline industry, in lieu of education)
Minimum 1 year of experience in gun loading within the wireline industry
Acquire and maintain ATF Employee Possessor Questionnaire (EPQ)
Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
