Finance employees receive, account for, monitor, and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to God's commandments) for the Church's religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders.
This position is seasonal employment and will not start until January, 2018. The candidate provides tax preparation services for designated Church employees during January, February, March, April and part of May. Flexible schedule; approximately 30-40 hours per week.
The primary responsibility is to prepare individual federal and state tax returns for designated domestic and expatriate Church employees. Job duties also include review of source data, communication with the employee as needed, preparation of tax projections for the next year and perform tax equalization analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or Finance or Business Management) or working towards an applicable accounting or finance degree. Must demonstrate a well-grounded knowledge of tax theory.
Tax preparation experience—specific experience with Form 1040 is preferred.
Computer skills in Excel, Word and Adobe
Ability to multitask on assigned tax returns
Self-motivated and independent worker
Excellent interpersonal skills: incumbents will demonstrate courtesy, tact and effectiveness in dealing with others in everyday working relationships, including contacts with others to request or provide information.
