SPECIAL MACHINE OPERATOR I - 2nd Shift
Responsible for the productive and efficient operation of various packaging machinery including Slat Filler, Thermoformers, cappers, and other production related equipment. Responsible for set-up, disassembling, cleaning and basic maintenance on packaging equipment.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs set-up and prepares line for packaging of various packaged products to include varying designs, components and packaging equipment.
Provides packaging supplies and bulk product as required to feed packaging machines and change as necessary (i.e. bottles, labels, and caps).
Continually observes product and materials used and rejects any, substandard materials or packages not in conformance with FDA-cGMP's.
Documents, monitors and maintains proper fill levels as based on the product specifications.
Operates packaging line according to Set-Up Sheets, SPI, SOP's and other required and instructed procedures.
Observes operation of equipment and lubricates, makes minor mechanical repairs or requests mechanics assistance as needed.
Assists mechanic with packaging line changeover.
Disassembles equipment at end of production runs and cleans in accordance with Chattem procedures to comply with FDA- cGMP's.
Responsible for confirmation of proper procedures by signing a permanent record indicating the appropriate cleaning procedures have been followed.
Maintains a safe work area and observes all company safety regulations; reports any unsafe conditions to management.
Continuously develops skills and experience to include required training to comply with FDA and cGMP requirements. p. Other duties will be assigned as required.
MACHINENERY and SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Packaging machinery, electric and manual lift truck, tape machines and various mechanic tools, filler, capper, bottle cleaner, labeler, cartoner, and bundler.
Uniforms, safety shoes, hair covers and/or head covering, gloves, dust masks, and safety glasses, as required; Equipment provided by Chattem.
Some exposure to product, dust, and grease in work area; exposure to recognized hazards of packing machinery.
Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs; requires standing or walking approximately 100% of time.
Nearly constant visual attention, alertness.
Exceptional coordination, manual dexterity, and mechanical aptitude.
Must work in a professional and collaborative style.
Maintain satisfactory attendance record.
Must be able to work with limited to no supervision at times.
Must successfully complete required pre-employment testing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience: 1 or more years high speed packaging or assembly equipment experience required.
Training: As needed and determined by department supervisor to ensure Chattem Consumer Products procedures compliance as required by FDA-cGMP's.
Machine Operator - Mixer Operator
Our client is on the northwest side of Grand Rapids. Must have 6 months of industrial experience. Must be able to perform heavy lifting tasks throughout the shift. This is a physically demanding job. Positions involve opening bags of ingredients and dumping into machines.

Parts Fabricator/Finisher: Spinning (2015441)
Coordinates components for buffers as well as items to be issued to final assembly
Sets up and operates various metal fabricating machines to manufacture components to include the grooving, spinning, perforating, trimming, welding, forming, fitting and grinding of metal components, such as outercases, filler rings, and adapters.
Performs product identification, and any final assembly operations per customer requirement.
Performs in-process and final component inspections as required per order and/or work instructions. Inspections may require a visual and/or dimensional verification requiring the use of various measuring devices.
Machines proper contour, O.D., and faces on new and/or existing spin chucks.
Material handling as required, may require use of Lift Truck.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Keeps work area clean.
Completes all associated documentation as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
Adheres to all safety rules and guidelines.
Performs other jobs as assigned by Supervisor.
Performs routine and preventative maintenance including but not limited to the oiling and care of machines.

CNC Machine Operator - 3Rd Shift
Must have previous CNC machine operating experience where you had to program or enter job specs into a computer terminal!
Starting Pay Rate: Up to $14/hour Depending on experience
Third shift works Sunday-Thursday 7:30pm to 6am; Friday 6pm to 11pm (48 to 53 hours/week).
- MUST have woodworking experience.
- Must be familiar with industrial table saw operation.
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
- Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Machine Operator Apprentice
Reports To: Supervisor and Plant Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all activities associated with running a Flexo or Rotary Die Cutter including: setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain
Sets up and operates the pre-feeder.
Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.
Maximizes the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Cross trains and assist Helpers, Stackers, and Bundlers with job duties on the machine.
Cross-train on other machines.
Completes necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data,
Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
Must be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Switches duties with stacker as necessary.
Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals.
Reports any issues to Supervisor.
Adherence to company policies, including its attendance is essential.
