Long Products Rolling Mill Vacation Coverage Operator
Perform a number of duties in the continuous mill that provide the mill the best opportunity to operate at an efficient level. Be able to perform the exit operator's duties at an adequate level during the absence of any of the continuous mill operators.
DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
SAFETY: provide a strong influence by self example that safety first is truly our behavior.
Have the ability to perform all of the exit operator duties
Operate fork lift while parking material properly.
Participate in preventive and breakdown maintenance, working closely with maintenance personnel in correcting equipment malfunctions, troubleshooting problems and maximizing equipment output.
Assist in pass and roll changes, product dimension changes, perform checks to mill equipment and guides during delays, assist in cobble removal.
Maintain adequate housekeeping in all work areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum High School degree or Equivalent (GED).
Working knowledge of all functions of the rolling mill equipment at this level and below in responsibilities.
Communication skills adequate to work closely and effetely with crew mates, shift leader, and group leader.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Mobility in plant requires sitting, standing/walking
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Visual ability with or without correction.
Communication abilities.
Ability to work a rotating shift (rotating from days to nights on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule).
HEALTH AND SAFETY
1.Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
2.Follow Company safety rules.
3.Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.

Rolling Mill Set-Up Operator

Major Responsibilities
Responsible for part quality
Responsible at the end of run for cleaning of rolling mill, removal of rolls, cleaning of them and storing them at the appropriate place
Must have ability to use hand tools and be able to make minor adjustments to operation
Ability to monitor oils and fluids levels
Ability to butt weld ends of coil together to form continuous feed or feed by hand
Ability to operate safely 10 to 40 ton cranes with appropriate sling or chain
Crane certificate would be an asset. If candidate does not have certificate, training will be provided
Must have knowledge of First and Last Off Procedure
Must have knowledge of setting roll tools and achieve section
Must be organized and clean up the area and equipment at the end of the shift
Must be able to communicate issues/problems to area leader or workcell leader
Knowledge of WHMIS
Good organizational skills, ability to work well without supervision
Any other reasonable request from management

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:
Must have knowledge on how to inspect rolling mill at the beginning of the shift and to ensure that at all times prior to operation, safety checklist is followed, completed and recorded
Must have knowledge of rolling mill controls and tooling protection or other pieces of equipment to operate rolling mill
Must have knowledge of all Inspection Records, SPC Charts and checking fixtures
Must have knowledge of measuring equipment, such as, vernier and other gauges
Must have experience in starting and shutting down of all equipment necessary to run appropriate rolling mill
Knowledge in rolling mill induction welding
Good English (both written and verbal) communication skills
Basic Mathematical skills
Must be able to work overtime when required and willing to help out when necessary as per customer demands
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid forklift license and ability to operate 6000 lb. to 12000 lb. lift trucks. If candidate does not have license, training will be provided
Must have ability to follow written set-up instructions and fill out appropriate papers

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
This Rolling Process Supervisor position will work to continuously improve the Strip manufacturing processes to provide better machine reliability, product quality, lower costs, and better use of assets. Will work directly with mill operators, engineering, maintenance, management, and production control to accomplish these tasks. Successful candidates will develop the skills to fully support their assigned processing lines and advance within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Gain an In-depth technical knowledge of the Strip Processing Equipment.
Organizing and leading equipment maintenance and equipment enhancement efforts.
Respond quickly and decisively to machine break downs and product quality issues all shifts/all days.
Lead project teams.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for processes.
Develop process control systems to ensure consistent product quality.
Supervise and/or direct the manufacture of Strip Products.
Meet with operators regularly for training and seek feedback.
Develop and maintain process routings for Strip products.
Assess capability for new product inquiries and develop cost quotations.
Assist customers and work with Sales, R&D and QA in the resolution of customer issues and complaints.
Support the Lean Sigma program.
Support the Safety Program including leading department safety teams.
Other duties as assigned.
