We are pleased to accept resumes for 1st Class Painter / Corrosion Control Technician candidates. This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our headquarters in Norfolk, VA. The 1st Class Corrosion Control Technician will accomplish surface preparation, application of protective coatings and installation and maintenance of environmental controls, as required to safely and properly accomplish corrosion control to any and all surfaces as required by Work Specifications. Required minimum levels of; Experience, Qualification and Certification, are delineated within this Job Description. Basic “Duties & Responsibilities” of a 1st Class Corrosion Control Technician are as follows: • Prepare all types of surfaces for preservation. • Removes old paint and debris from all types of substrates by; Scraping, Chipping and Sanding. • Operate; 3,000 to 5,000PSI Pressure Washers and wash surfaces to remove grease, rust, scale, and dirt. • Operate 40,000PSI Ultra-High Pressure Water Jetting equipment. • Mix Solvents and Coatings accurately to formula. • Apply coatings in accordance with specifications and good marine practice. • Capable of brush and roll painting for passing all inspection processes • Be familiar with and exercise proper procedures for; painting in confined spaces. • Control costs in assigned area of responsibility. • Complete tasks with little to no supervision • Other duties may be assigned as workload requirements dictate. • Understand and act upon simple instruction • Work independently to complete job assignments • Must have regular, reliable attendance TOOL REQUIREMENTS: The following tools are expected to be part of the 1st Class Corrosion Control Technician’s, employee provided and maintained toolbox:

Flat Tip Screwdrivers + “Channel-lock” Pliers 1st Class Corrosion Control Technician will have experience and a thorough working knowledge with: Surface Preparation: Solvent Cleaning to SSPC-SP1 Hand tool cleaning to SSPC-SP2 Power tool cleaning to SSPC-SP3 Power tool cleaning to SSPC-SP11 Abrasive Blasting to SSPC-SP-6, SP-7 & SP-10 Ultra-High Pressure Water-jetting to SSPC-SP-12 (WJ2, WJ3, WJ4) Coatings Application: Mixing of coatings to proper ratio Brush & Roll paint application to required film thickness. Masking and protection of surrounding and adjacent areas Application of coatings using airless spray equipment Environmental Protection: Install & Maintain containment for all fugitive emissions (Includes: Wash Water, Paint Overspray, Abrasive Blasting Dust, etc.) Equipment; Set-up, Operation, and Breakdown: Pressure Washer (3500-5000 PSI) Abrasive Blasting Pots Airless Spray Paint Pumps 40,000 PSI UHP Blast Equipment Safety: Safe handling, use and storage of paint Safe work practices and PPE Lock-out / Tag-out Confined space entry and work practices 1st Class Corrosion Control Technician will have experience and a thorough working knowledge with (Continued): Respirator fit / training Safety harness HAZMAT spill response Perform Inspection and Testing on: Perform Wet Film Thickness readings Perform Surface Preparation Inspections using appropriate calibrated equipment Perform Coatings Inspections using appropriate calibrated equipment Accomplish and Document Environmental Readings using calibrated equipment and appropriate Data-Sheets General knowledge of: Government & Commercial; Vessel Repair Specifications & Standard Items Preservation Inspections and Quality Assurance Inspection “Tickets” DEQ & EPA Regulations Product Data & MSDS Sheets QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of seven years experience with accomplishing Corrosion Control and Preservation in the Marine Industry Minimum 120 hours of “hands on” experience operating 40K PSI water-jetting equipment. Minimum 200 hours of “hands on” experience operating 3500 – 5000 PSI pressure washers for cleaning of ships hulls. Minimum of 800 hours of “hands on” experience with Airless Spray paint application and/or Abrasive Blasting and/or Installation and Maintenance of vessel containment systems. Must be able to work effectively with others. Must be a steady, reliable worker. Must be able to comprehend and follow simple instructions. CERTIFICATIONS C-13 Ultra-High Pressure Water-Jetter Certification required.
