- Optimizing electrical cable routing paths and improving the mechanical reliability of the electrical systems to support Pony’s autonomous driving systems.
- Working with electrical engineers to develop wiring diagrams for Pony’s autonomous driving vehicle fleet.
- Maintaining cable routing design consistency while optimizing for different vehicle platforms.

- Creating SOP, BOM, 2D layouts and 3D CAD of automotive electrical wiring harnesses.
- Supporting autonomous vehicle bringup. Providing directions to technicians related to cable routing and mounting as needed.
- Working with internal EPMs and external vendors to ensure quality and project timeline.
- BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related engineering disciplines.
- 2+ years of wire harness and cable routing design experience in automotive or other high volume production industries.
- Experiences with full life-cycle wire harness development from schematic, prototype, to production.
- Familiar with common electrical cables and connectors used in automotive industries.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical or other wire harness design software packages.
- Working knowledge of automotive electronics and thermal management.
- Experience with watertight sealing design is a plus.
Electrical Harness Engineer

Electrical Harness Engineer
SAIC is seeking an Electrical Harness Engineer on the OMES II contract in support of the Restore-L program in the Satellite Servicing Projects Division (SSPD) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
The Restore-L mission is a Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Satellite Servicing Project Division (SSPD) managed mission. Restore-L is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the Restore-L Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. The SSPD is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test and operations of the Restore-L Mission through an integrated team at GSFC. The Servicing Payload design, development and RSV integration will be conducted at GSFC.
The engineer will support harness design and integration across all testbeds and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) as a member of the Restore-L I&T team. The Restore-L I&T subsystem performs the integration and test of all Restore-L hardware including the servicing payload and spacecraft bus.
Job duties include:
Contribute to the electrical design, test, and integration of cabling/harnessing for ground support hardware within subsystems and at the mission system level
Responsible for developing, designing, documenting, releasing, and testing of harness/cable designs for electrical ground support requirements within the program's schedule, budget, and technical requirements
Work with subsystem leads and responsible engineers to identify harnessing requirements on the various subsystems and make recommendations for harnessing needs within the subsystems and at the mission system level
Manage conceptual design, trade studies, drawing generation, documentation release, and testing requirements.
Responsible for hardware through the full product life cycle (design, fabrication, debug, integration, test and maintenance support)
Interpret detailed component performance specification and Interface Control Drawings (ICD), including assembly manufacturing drawings, parts lists, cable design, and engineering change support
Develop parts lists (connector selection, wire gauge sizing, harness assembly drawings, etc.)
Incorporate engineering change notices and feedback into the iterative processes for design changes
Coordinate manufacturing of harnesses with onsite fabrication resources and offsite vendors
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or closely related field with 9+ years of related experience
Must be able to pass a Government background investigation
OrCAD, AutoCAD, PSpice, Labview, and Visio software experience
Ability to assess design requirements to generate a design and documentation using standard industry tools/programs
Must have experience working with program requirements, equipment performance specs, wire connection lists, schematics, wire gauge sizing, connector selection and related cabling , harnessing documentation, and grounding schemes
Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical design
Strong proficiency in resolving technical and schedule issues in order to ensure that deliverables are met on schedule
Proficiency in advising management, inside and outside own organization, on system architecture, technical results, or risks
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work as a team member
Must be capable of functioning in multi-disciplined design teams across multiple systems

Qualified journeyman card holder, must have completed and provide evidence of having completed an approved apprentice program or have a minimum of 5 year's experience and be able to provide evidence of such.
High school diploma required.
Must possess own tools including but not limited to micrometers, depth mics, inside mics,
calipers, indicators, radius gages, etc.
