The Electrical CAD Engineer, Wire harness is part of Electrical Team, responsible for wiring harness schematics, packaging and 2D and 3D CAD drawing.
Create concept models for packaging or FEA simulation studies
Create/modify logical schematic and translate System Schematics into wiring diagrams and harnesses
3D harness routing, releasing 2D and 3D CAD drawing in line with Karma part release process
Convert CAD data to a variety of different industry formats specified by customer and vendor CAD systems.
Generate system, subsystem, and component level geometry/package space through the use of legacy and detail drawings.
Flattening 3D models of wiring harnesses resulting in 2D prints
Design of brackets
Direct Interface to Karma Engineering specifically DREs and CAE engineers and suppliers relevant to program and project work.
Read/Interpret blueprints and design for assembly, manufacturing, and service
Participating in the packaging meetings internally and with supplier
Leads the problem resolution and tracking process and provides feedback on status to tracked problems.
Evaluates and recommends options consistent with industry best practices.
Apply automotive drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, design guidelines, and release system to designs.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
At least 5 years Automotive or Aerospace related Schematics capturing, packaging, 2D and 3D CAD experience at either OEM or Tier-1 supplier level
Knowledge of checking: Device Transmittal, System Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, and harnesses for accuracy
Experience and familiar with 3D and 2D CAD software applications
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills by developing consensus and win-win situations
Good analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills

This position requires an extremely technical oriented individual with the dynamic sense of urgency and communication skills to meet the project needs and development timing. Engine Harness Development Engineer
This Engine Harness Development Engineer duties include but are not limited to the design, prototyping and documenting responsibilities of engine, transmission and electrified powertrain wiring harnesses to be used in dynamometer test cells. 3 years of experience with automotive electronic system testing
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent required
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering desired
Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
Computer savvy – skilled in the use of software
Integration – joining people, processes or systems
Influencing and negotiation skills
German skills written and verbal are advantageous
Experience with automotive wire harness construction and modification
Experience with automotive wire harness root cause analysis
Experience and understanding of the roles and objectives of the different parties in the development and release of an automobile
Experience to create, explain, and control work packages for third party execution
Automotive wire harness development experience
Experience with automotive wire harness routing design
Knowledge of automotive wire harness suppliers.
Experience with Volkswagen wire harness construction and/or development
Experience with high voltage vehicle wiring
Frequently traveling to the suppliers and the R&D department in Wolfsburg, Germany
