Avionics Wire Harness Technician

AVIONICS WIRE HARNESS TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fabricate and assemble high quality, high reliability wire harness and electro-mechanical assemblies.
Self-monitor work progress against area benchmarks and achieve on time delivery of all work.
Read, interpret and work from drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes.
Cable Harnesses: wiring diagrams, layout drawings, Mechanical Drawings, GD&T.
Assembly Procedures / Work instructions.
Schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
Record work performed on shop floor management system (ERP) as well as use e-mail (MS Outlook).
Perform verifications of flight hardware and documenting results in a clear, precise and complete manner.
Assist with the development of production processes for first time production runs.
Assist with area efficiency improvement projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Must have at least 1 year of experience using basic mechanical and/or electronics hand tools.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree.
Experience preferred in fast-paced production environment with flight hardware.
Experience in a high production environment with hands on experience fabricating harness, electro-mechanical assemblies, or prototype development.
Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed.
Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted.
Ability to distinguish colors is required.

Design low voltage wire harness system working alongside system architects.

Integrate 2D drawing data into 3D CAD work-space.
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and change release process
Collaborate with Suppliers to optimize harness design and packaging

Harness Design Engineer Staff
Performs EME (ElectroMagnetic Effects) requirements definition. Analyzes and tests equipment, subsystems, and aircraft to assure proper operation within the electromagnetic environment. Provides design authority for electrical bonding, wire harness shielding, wire routing, electrical ground system design, and general equipment shielding designs. This position will require some travel both domestically and internationally that typically can extend from one to two weeks in duration.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electromagnetics.
Eight plus years experience in the electromagnetics effects engineering discipline.
Desired Skills:
Academic coursework in advanced electromagnetics and antenna theory.
Experience with aircraft/component level Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) compliance testing.
Familiarity with MIL-STD 464 and MIL-STD 461.

SAIC is seeking an Electrical Harness Engineer on the OMES II contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in support of the Mission Control System segment of the Ground System for Restore-L. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Satellite Servicing Projects Division is seeking an electrical engineer to support harness design and integration across all subsystems on the Restore-L mission at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
Contribute to the electrical design, test, and integration of cabling/harnessing for ground support and flight hardware within subsystems and at the mission system level
Responsible for developing, designing, documenting, releasing, and testing of harness/cable designs for electrical ground support and flight requirements within the program's schedule, budget, and technical requirements
Work with subsystem leads and responsible engineers to identify harnessing requirements on the various subsystems and make recommendations for harnessing needs within the subsystems and at the mission system level
Manage conceptual design, trade studies, drawing generation, documentation release, and testing requirements.
Responsible for hardware through the full product life cycle (design, fabrication, debug, integration, test and maintenance support)
Interpret detailed component performance specification and Interface Control Drawings (ICD), including assembly manufacturing drawings, parts lists, cable design, and engineering change support
Develop parts lists (connector selection, wire gauge sizing, harness assembly drawings, etc.)
Incorporate engineering change notices and feedback into the iterative processes for design changes
Coordinate manufacturing of harnesses with onsite fabrication resources and offsite vendors
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Must have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience. 9+ years Electrical Engineering Experience or equivalent experience in electronics, harness design or system-level electrical work.
Experience working with program requirements, equipment performance specs, wire connection lists, schematics, wire gauge sizing, connector selection and related cabling and harnessing documentation
Ability to assess design requirements to generate a design and documentation using standard industry tools/programs
Demonstrated ability to develop requirements, design documents and test plans that comply to higher-level specifications
DESIRED SKILLS:
Familiar with design of electrical interconnects for spacecraft
Demonstrated understanding of the applicable engineering and manufacturing knowledge required for product design and testing. Exercises engineering judgment in developing appropriate decisions considering decision criteria, implications, and possible consequences, to ensure product design integrity
Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical design
Familiarity with MIL standards and requirements, NASA standards and requirements, AS9100 or ISO 9001
Thorough understanding of manufacturing-project planning, scheduling, resource management, materials ordering, inventory management, and quality functions
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work as a team member
Must be capable of functioning in multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects
Must be well organized and possess excellent communication skills
Able to plan and prioritize work effort and quickly respond to issues and questions

Description:
- Plans, coordinates and performs designs for complex components and assemblies using the preferred 3-Dimensional (3D) Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool and protocols. Uses technical judgment. May work with junior personnel to complete tasks.
Duties:
- Plans, coordinates and performs design work for complex 3D engineering models and components. Exhibits detailed knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) Standards and can apply it to many varied situations. Performs as expert user of 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) system with considerable experience in Top Down design work for complex 3D engineering models and components. May provide document maintenance and have responsibility for placement and routing of electronic circuits. May create Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fabrication drawings, plan PCB projects and create electronic schematic diagrams. Provides modeling leadership and counsel to other employees.

Create designs and modify existing designs using Creo Cabling
Work with manufacturing and quality engineers to identify improvements to designs

Work with supplier(s) to determine best design practices and components
Pull part numbers and decisions for parts being designed using PTC Windchill/SAP
Review and approve two dimensional harness drawings
Participate on a cross functional team and perform design reviews
Requirements:
Ability to work independently and coordinate with other stakeholders
Great communication skills
3+ years of experience with ProCable
3+ years of harness or cable design for vehicles
Nice-to-haves:
BS degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
Practical and/or design experience with Agricultural and/or Off-highway Equipment
Advanced experience with Pro/E, especially the Pro/Cabling module.
Experience with Capital Harness Systems (CHS)
Read electrical schematics to relate to wire harness designs
Senior Harness Designer
Candidate will participate in mechanical engineering and research, design, development, and production support for cables and harness. The individual will be assigned varied tasks with direction from program senior lead engineers. Candidate should be versed in Networks and Cabling Design for Military application. The candidate will interface with all levels of electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering. Candidate should have knowledge of M-CAD and E-CAD tools, excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work in a flexible and dynamic team environment. This job requires knowledge of circuit separations, shielding requirements, cable routing, cable protection, circuit protection, cable construction, wire sizing, schematic capture, and wire running list generation and documentation. Candidate will perform various duties including developing cabling and harness designs; investigating design factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, weight and cost; evaluating vendor designs; developing and maintaining all assembly and test documentation; trouble shooting and correcting anomalies and discrepant hardware. Successful candidate will also participate in failure investigation teams.
Applicant selected will be subjected to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
The candidate will be expected to work a 9/80 schedule and should be willing to work occasional overtime.

Who we're looking for
Toyota's ES2 (Electronic System 2) Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Wire Harness Design Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is Wire Harness Routing Design.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Electronic system 2 department's objective to design and develop wire harness.
What you'll be doing
Design and develop wire harness (engine, engine room main, instrument panel, floor, door, roof) and wire harness components for North American vehicle programs
Create wire harness drawings based on system component specification
Support and trouble shoot wiring harness related issues during build stages
Act as technical liaison for other Divisions and Departments
Interface with Plant engineering, quality and assembly departments, supplier design-in members, circuitry engineers, design engineers from other groups and design engineers from groups in Japan
Participate in team to resolve development and current production problems. Need to be able to work with supplier / related groups to identify problem root cause, clearly present results of findings to Module or Project leader
Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring
Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Engineering discipline
Experience in Wire Harness routing design
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
CR5000 experience
Added bonus if you have:
Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Vehicle development experience
Vehicle packaging experience
TBP (Toyota Business Practice) complete with Panel

Senior Wire Harness Technician - Ocala, FL
Trains operators on process skills and machine operation for electronics manufacturing.
Performs machine program/settings changes.
Assists manufacturing operators with machine setup and daily operation.
Performs process and equipment troubleshoot.
Investigates manufacturing defects and implements corrective action.
Creates Manufacturing Process Plans.
Must have good communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Supports implementation of new technology and new product introduction.

Wire Harness Electrical Engineer
Boeing is seeking a Wire Harness Electrical Engineer to work in the Seal Beach, CA location. The successful Wire Harness Electrical Engineer(Level 3). Boeing's Space and Launch Division manages the company's major commercial and government satellite and ground programs for communications, national defense and other missions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops, maintains cable/wire harness detail assembly designs.
Analyzes results and performs design reviews.
Supports the team to analyze results and performs design reviews.
Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies
Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
Performs technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
Works under the guidance of a leadership team.

Qualifications
This position requires an active SSBI/Special Programs Access US Security Clearance. (A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Typical Education & Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Engineering or physics degree is required
Active SSBI/Special Programs Access US Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience using UG NX6 or equivalent.
Experience with mechanical CAD tools.
Experience routing wire harnesses using CAD tools.
Experience using CEEDS desired.

Cable & Wire Harness Technician
Strata-G Solutions, Inc. is looking to fill a Cable & Wire Harness Technician position.
Job Description
Identifies electrical components and inventory materials issued.
Cuts, Strips wire, attaches pins and assembles harnesses and recovers heat shrink and maker sleeves as required
Reads and interprets documents such as engineered drawings, schematics, work order travelers, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work process specifications and procedure manuals.
Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measure (whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and algebra).
Carries out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Identifies and knows the proper use of all fabrication tools.
Stands, walks, sits, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and reaching, climbing, and stooping. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, full color perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Wear safety glasses as needed.
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and exposed to risk of electrical shock or burns.
Minimum Skills and Competencies
Reads a tape measure.
Basic computer skills.
Basic math skills.
Effective problem-solving.
Must be able to read and interpret documents.
Minimum Education and Experience
IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 certifications preferred but not required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year cable & wire harness experience required.
Solder certification preferred but not required.
Must be able to prove proficiency in basic electronics and theories, via certification testing or general question and answer method.
