MATERIALS TECHNICIAN, FINISHING OPERATIONS - SPLIT/NIGHT SHIFT

The Materials Technician will be responsible for learning the details of our processes as they evolve, then using that understanding to effectively and safely operate equipment and propose improvements that help SpaceX make world-changing launch vehicles and spacecraft.
Safely operate grit blasting equipment on cast metal parts with a variety of blasting media
Safely operate grinding and deburring equipment
Maintain a clean and safe metal removal work area
Read and interpret work instructions and part drawings (blue prints and CAD)
Support material removal strategies in partnership with design engineers
Move and stage parts and material as needed with pallet jacks, forklifts, and other assisted lift methods or with SpaceX vehicles
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Hands-on experience with material removal processes or other hand-finishing work
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Duties and Responsibilities
Director of Events oversees the events team and the festivals/Red Hat events team who take care of clients from the time a contract is signed to the time they leave the facility. Assume management responsibility for all services and activities of the events team including the planning and directing of all facility events. Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all event services and activities. Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement and review with the facility manager; implement improvements. Select, train, motivate and evaluate all event services personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. This position makes sure there is coverage for guest services, safety of event set-up and oversees facility activity during the events and ensures pre/post communications with the clients and internal staff. This position also oversees the set-up crew who readies all spaces in the facility for renters and guest's arrival. The same crew is responsible for the public spaces and back of house being clean and tidy. The DOE will connect and meet all clients and assist in ensuring there is a strong staff relationship and client loyalty. The DOE will ensure that excellent record keeping of incidents, events and client details are developed and maintained. The DOE will maintain consistency with inside and outside events, record-keeping, and collaborative efficiencies.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree (4-year degree) with 3 years or more events experience in a convention center, event management or live performance venue experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Prepare finish so that it is ready to spray, including moving full drums, catalyzing and flushing out lines.
Must possess good basic math and reading skills, as well as good communication skills – add, subtract, figure ratios and track downtime; read SOP's, computer screens, pressure gauges, orders and log books; communicate with others, understand and follow instructions given over 2-way radio, and communicate mechanical problems to maintenance.

Familiarity with different paper weights, sizes, kinds and colors so as to be able to identify paper conditions (i.e. excessive moisture or curling that frequently requires additional machine adjustment). Familiarity with basic mathematics (i.e. decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements contained in job orders and to make more complicated adjustments. Ability to use the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines. Skill in making adjustments to powered machines using handtools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) as well as more specialized hand tools, usually furnished by the machine manufacturer.
