Operator II - Heat Treat - 2Nd Shift
Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Operator II (2nsShift) at our Fort Mill, SC location. Position is responsible for operation of equipment and process in accordance with established process sheets and work instructions. The Manufacturing General Helper will assist the assembly process by part placement and complete assembly inspection.

The Position
Heat Plant Specialists operate, adjust, monitor, maintain, clean and repair high and/or low pressure boilers and hot water heat generating equipment, auxiliary equipment such as fuel and combustion systems, compressors, pumps, steam lines, steam traps, heat exchangers, water lines, controls, gauges, and emergency power generators.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located at Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, NV. The position works under the general supervision of a Heat Plant Specialist IV and will be responsible for the maintenance of building heat exchanger systems and operation of emergency generators. Applicants with plumbing and electrical skills are preferred as the position requires some plumbing and electrical work.

Position Summary:
Performs routine procedures following written work instructions to complete manufacturing processes. Measures and verifies that component materials are available per specification. Operates production equipment. Maintains documentation on manufacturing processes to comply with organization and regulatory standards. Cleans, assembles and brazes products to print, work order and product specifications also checks connections for leaks using dry nitrogen pressure. Visually inspects the unit before passing to the next cell. Works safely and ensures best quality products within current takt times. Responsibilities:
Reviews and interprets assembly drawings, work orders, and production schedules for product specifications. Cleans, assembles and brazes systems using a variety of procedures and equipment. Assembles component according to work station instructions and drawings as required. Installs and brazes Hanson fittings and releases nitrogen from system and connects to vacuum pump for evacuation. Checks brazed assemblies using vacuum pumps, helium and leak check machine. Mounts compressor, condenser, and other components in specified locations on frames, using hand and power tools Applies solder along adjoining edges of work pieces to solder joints, using soldering irons, gas torches, or electric-ultrasonic equipment. Selects torch tips, flux, and brazing alloys from work station instructions and/or Sequence of Events (SOE) or work orders.
Applies knowledge of metallurgy to determine best method to accomplish quality braze (brass, copper, steel) and performs all job duties within ISO standards using required safety procedures and equipment in accordance with control procedures replacing components as instructed; reworks units rejected by quality control.
Completes appropriate internal control documents including Final Inspection Sheets, Total Quality Control sheets. Enters product related information into computer system to track bar codes, locations or production rates. Reorders raw materials and finished parts using the Kanban inventory system and maintains Supermarket racks and inventory accuracy using the correct part numbers and bin locations. Reports any shortages to cell leader or supervision.
Performs other duties, provides support and coverage on all operations on line as requested by supervisor. Cross training and flexibility required.
Performs all duties using required safety procedures and equipment according to company policies and practices within guidelines of ISO standards, quality, and safety. Maintains clean and organized work area that supports co-workers as well as safety and efficiency.

The Heat Treat Operator efficiently and safely operates heat treat and plating equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
Carburizing:
Incoming inspection and check in to ensure process documents and quality conformance
Loading and unloading parts from carburizing fixtures (some heavy lifting required)
Loading and unloading carburizing pit furnaces (overhead crane operation required)
Operating and maintaining furnace temperatures and atmospheres
Test piece inspection utilizing metallograph and micro hardness testers

Job Description:
MISSION:
To thermally process castings in air or vacuum heat treat furnaces in order to change metal microstructure to meet customer specifications.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Preparation and Scheduling:
Objective: to accurately and efficiently stage parts for heat treat processing; to schedule loads in order to produce maximum furnace load capabilities.
Typical Activities:
A. Reviews documentation and tech cards to identify parts, determine temperature and load requirements, and determine test bar requirements.
B. Identifies and consolidates castings with the same processing requirements.
C. Inspects parts for contamination; cleans prior to loading.
D. Loads and seals castings in retort or baskets by hand or with forklift; arranges loads to eliminate warping or distortion.
2.Air Furnace Operations.
Objective: to operate high and low temperature air furnaces at optimal capacity, insuring compliance with customer specifications and proper furnace operating procedures.
Typical Activities:
A. Inspects furnace systems to ensure proper operations.
B. Loads furnace according to load charts; sets controls and monitors computerized Data Acquisition System.
C. Controls argon flow to achieve proper dewpoint levels throughout the heat treat process.
3.Vacuum Furnace Operations.
Objective: to operate vacuum furnaces at optimal capacity, insuring compliance with customer specifications.
Typical Activities:
A. Checks pumps and elements in furnace; checks leak rate.
B. Loads/unloads baskets and operates furnaces; controls and adjusts furnace temperatures; operates quench.
C. Monitors all aspects of the process, including dew point, vacuum level and temperature ramp/hold time.
D. Operates and monitors computerized Data Acquisition System.
E. Maintains proper vacuum level and temperature ramp/hold during cycle.
4.Documentation. Completes records, logs, non-conformance reports, and production reports.

Heat Treat Cell Operator, 1St, 2Nd, And 3Rd Shifts
Job Description:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Operate horizontal electric controlled atmosphere furnaces, vertical heat treating equipment for continuous hardening and tempering various sizes, following prescribed SOP.
Check all coil ID tags for correct specifications and to assure completion of previous operations.
Join start of new coil to end of preceding coil by resistance butt welding for continuous operation.
Check direct reading measurements for temperature and monitor nitrogen atmosphere make up.
Make adjustments to air jets and induction coils as necessary.
Cut section from each coil and check teeth and gullet for visual defects. Use Vernier caliper to check stretch against reference chart.
Secure hardened coils with wire and place on tempering rack or appropriate skid. Transport full racks or skids to the next process.
Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-training in other operation.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of three months experience at Stanley Black & Decker with proven performance in safety, quality, work ethic, attendance, 6S principals, and attitude / teamwork
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Solid shop math skills and ability to work with decimals
Basic mechanical ability; machine changes and operation experience
Ability to use and operate basic tools, equipment, & gages

The Position
Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized heat plant apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
