This job description indicates the nature of production work routinely performed by a production employee at the Smithfield - Tar Heel Plant. This description is meant to help individuals who may be unfamiliar with food processing and what is required to perform this type of work.
Production employees are routinely required to perform a variety of tasks that require manual material handling and the use of hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment. Good hand-eye coordination and upper extremity motor skills are essential for most job tasks. Additional essential functions my be applicable to specific jobs.

ResponsibilitiesContinuous standing in one location for long periods of time (up to 2-3 hours). Job Role Summary
Provide preventative maintenance and repairs on compression packages for the Midstream Operations for the Longview, TX area.
Job Role Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance on compression packages and pumping unit engines.
Engine and compressor oil analysis and record keeping.
Repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting on compression packages and pumping unit engines.
Assist Operations Supervisors with installations and removal of equipment.
Represent the company in a safe and professional manner at all times
Expected Level of Proficiency
Able to troubleshoot engine and compressor problems and make needed repairs.
Must be willing to participate in and attend l safety meetings and training sessions and follow safety procedures and recognize safety hazards.
Willing to take call-outs and be on rotational on-call schedule for all of East Texas Operations.

The Mechanical Analysis group is expanding technical ability for heat transfer analyses. An engineer in the Mechanical Analysis group will function in both design and analysis roles involving various levels of thermal systems analyses, including:

This is a design and development position where having a strong understanding of mechanical design, component/system characterization, engineering fundamentals, and an ability to work quickly and effectively on open ended problems are far more important than experience with particular tools. Success in this role is critical for vehicle thermal performance, supercharge capability, occupant comfort, and noise inside/outside the cabin.
Lead mechanical design of refrigerant compressor scroll and compressor assembly
Employ a first-principles, limit of physics approach to quantify the upside of completely new compressor technology, understand the risks, and execute on promising concepts
Gain mastery of compressor reliability risk factors and communicate these early and often to the team using test data, models, and physics-based arguments rather than heuristic metrics
Designs should be optimized for performance, low vibration, efficiency, reliability and cost
Work cross-functionally with 12V Controller team, Harness team, Firmware team, and Battery / Drive System teams, to integrate the electric compressor into production vehicles
Support component and vehicle testing activities, production concerns, and new model launch as required by work flow priority
Scope, prototype, test, and implement modifications to production compressor hardware that enable higher capacity and/or efficiency
