This job description indicates the nature of production work routinely performed by a production employee at the Smithfield - Tar Heel Plant. This description is meant to help individuals who may be unfamiliar with food processing and what is required to perform this type of work.
Production employees are routinely required to perform a variety of tasks that require manual material handling and the use of hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment. ResponsibilitiesContinuous standing in one location for long periods of time (up to 2-3 hours). Most jobs have fixed workstations and are conveyor line paced.Able to walk long distances on wet,uneven and slippery surfaces.Climbing or moving on ladders,steps, stairwells, walkways and platforms.Carrying, lifting, lowering,pushing and pulling of heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 60 lbs.
Pushing or pulling of heavy carts, bins or transport containers.Working in a cold environment between 20-45 degrees F, hot environments between 80-110 Degrees F and frequent contact with animal fats.Wearing, using and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE). Using, cleaning, maintaining, and safe handling of sharp cutting tools.Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching,pulling, lifting, extending,flexing the hands and arms to perform tasks. A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force,movement and repetition.Using and maintaining a variety of knives, hand tools, power tools and equipment, electrical devices, controls and motorized vehicles.Being able to understand and follow oral and written instructions from supervisor and or designated staff.Additional essential functions may be applicable to specific jobs.
Competent and trustworthy to comply with federal inspection programs and all company safety and health policies.Maintain regular and predictable attendance.Be available to work all scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands.
Must complete the required Human Resources Development Class prior to interview.
Able to stand, twist and bend on hard floors for long periods of time.

Reads, interprets drawings and written instruction applicable to specific machining process.
Performs set-up and operation as required without supervision.
Performs all required measurements.
Capable of required tool selection for required task.
Trains, or assists in training new employees.
Can safely operate overhead or jib type cranes and rigging.
Performs all non-electrical preventative maintenance as indicated by supervision for specific machinery.
Adhere to all safety guidelines and policies.

Dura-Line a leading manufacturer of counduit, pipe, and conduit products and accessories is looking for Downstream Machine Operators to operate equipment. Entry level, willing to train. Base starting wage is $14.00 an hour and up to $20.00.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Places the correct reel onto reeler and prepare for start-up.
Reel must be in good condition.Operates reeler (Manual and auto mode).
Monitors print and footage markings. Makes corrections as needed.
Monitors for continuous stripe (if required).
Knows and understands the quality requirements for all products being produced.
Makes all checks that may be required to assure that the product being wound on the reels meets the product requirements.
These checks will include, but are not inclusive:
Check for proper puller pressure.
Check for stuck cable on C-I-D (Cable In Duct) products.
Check for hot spots on the duct.
Check surface temperature of duct.
Check for print quality.
Check surface quality of duct.
Check for holes, die-face build-up on duct.
Check for loss of stripes.
Before making the necessary adjustments, informs the supervisor or extrusion technician of problem areas.
Ensures wraps on reels are neat.
Cuts conduit, ties-off, and caps conduit when each reel, and cable if applicable, is complete.
Paints and stencils wood reels if required.
Grinds line scrap as it is produced and stacks scrap.
Assists extrusion technician in line start-ups.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
Assists other operators in cutting conduit, tie-offs, and reel changes.
Follows all safety requirements for this position and all company safety guidelines.
Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Completes appropriate paperwork to ensure accurate inventory transactions.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED is desired.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to perform simple math, add, subtract, multiply, divide and take measurements.
Ability to lift more than 100 pounds with reasonable assistance.
