This job description indicates the nature of production work routinely performed by a production employee at the Smithfield - Tar Heel Plant. This description is meant to help individuals who may be unfamiliar with food processing and what is required to perform this type of work.
Production employees are routinely required to perform a variety of tasks that require manual material handling and the use of hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment. Good hand-eye coordination and upper extremity motor skills are essential for most job tasks. Additional essential functions my be applicable to specific jobs.

ResponsibilitiesContinuous standing in one location for long periods of time (up to 2-3 hours). Most jobs have fixed workstations and are conveyor line paced.Able to walk long distances on wet,uneven and slippery surfaces.Climbing or moving on ladders,steps, stairwells, walkways and platforms.Carrying, lifting, lowering,pushing and pulling of heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Pushing or pulling of heavy carts, bins or transport containers.Working in a cold environment between 20-45 degrees F, hot environments between 80-110 Degrees F and frequent contact with animal fats.Wearing, using and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE). Using, cleaning, maintaining, and safe handling of sharp cutting tools.Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching,pulling, lifting, extending,flexing the hands and arms to perform tasks. Event Management Assistant
Viterbo University is accepting applications for a part-time Event Management Assistant. This is part time, hourly position that works from August thru May.
This position assists in the coordination of staffing and operations of all home intercollegiate athletics events and oversees the maintenance of concessions stand product inventory and equipment.
Reports to: Coordinator of Athletics Communications and Events
Assist in the setup, take down, and supervision of all intercollegiate events. This includes the scorer's table, concessions stand, ticket booth, and video live stream.
Assign and train student workers and staff to fulfill various event management roles such as: scoreboard announcer, music, concessions, video, tickets, and game statistics.
Work with event managers to ensure all events are staffed and supervise staff at each event.
Meet and greet officials, opposing teams, and event staff. Train staff about importance of hospitality and service. We want a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Assist visiting teams in following our event plan with details such as athletic trainer services, event location, protocols, locker room location, parking, etc.
Make sure all facets of game operations are running smoothly and equipment works properly. Follow event management protocol and address any problematic situations as necessary.
Implement entertainment or promotional activities for select events to help attract and engage fans.
Coordinate the purchasing and selling of food and beverages for all home sporting events. This would include product inventory, pricing, displays, cash management, and opening and closing procedures. Viterbo's two concessions stands are located at the Varsity Athletics Center and Outdoor Athletics Complex.
Keep an organized account of attendance, revenue, and cash deposits related to ticket sales and concessions.
Assist in the duties of athletics communications as needed such as: game statistics, website editing, social media posting, and writing as needed.
Carry out other responsibilities as delegated or assigned by the Coordinator of Athletics Communications and Events.
Background in event management desired. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with the duties of the position including good written, oral, and interpersonal skills; Excellent organization and leadership skills; Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office; Demonstrate reliability and ability to handle and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously; Background in athletics communications is not required, but encouraged; Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

- Basic Restroom/Locker Room Cleaning Services.
- Clean and Disinfect. The applicant shall completely clean and disinfect all surfaces of sinks, floors, toilet bowls, urinals, lavatories, showers, shower mats, dispensers, plumbing fixtures, partitions stalls, stall doors, entry doors, (including handles, kick plates, ventilation grates, metal guards, etc.), and wall areas adjacent to wall mounted lavatories, urinals, and toilets, using a germicidal detergent. The applicant shall clean all furniture to include chairs, tables and any other items placed in the restroom. After cleaning, receptacles shall be free of deposits, dirt, streaks, and odors.
- Clean Restroom Mirrors. The applicant shall clean all glass. After surfaces have been cleaned, all traces of film, dirt, smudges, water, and other foreign matter shall be removed from frames, casings, sills, and glass.
- De-scale Showers, Toilet Bowls, and Urinals. De-scaling shall be performed weekly, at a minimum, and as often as needed to keep areas free of scale, soap films, and other deposits. After de‑scaling, surfaces shall be free from streaks, stains, scale, scum, urine deposits, and rust stains.
- Stock Restrooms Supplies. The applicant shall ensure restrooms are stocked sufficiently so that supplies including soap, toilet paper and paper towels do not run out. Supplies shall be stored in designated areas.
- Remove Trash. All trash to include large trash bags and identified boxes shall be collected and removed daily to a location designated by the customer or as often as necessary to prevent containers from overflowing.
- Maintain Floors. The floors shall have a uniform appearance free from dirt, debris, dust, scuff marks, heel marks, stains, discoloration, and other foreign matter. The baseboards, corners, and wall/floor edges shall also be clean. All floor maintenance solutions shall be removed from baseboards, furniture, and trash receptacles. Chairs, trash receptacles, and other movable items shall be moved to maintain floors underneath these items. All moved items shall be returned to their original position.
- Clean Stairways. All floor surfaces shall be swept, dust mopped, damp mopped, wet mopped, dry buffed, and spray buffed. Grease and grime shall be removed from stair guards, handrails and baseboards. The applicant shall remove all marks, dirt, smudges, scuffs, and other foreign matter from adjoining stairwell walls.
- Carpets. Vacuum carpeted areas within hallways, office, conference rooms, elevator, and all other areas within the building. After vacuuming, the carpeted area shall be free of all visible dirt, debris, litter, and other foreign matter.
- Dusting. All surfaces shall be dusted or cleaned to eliminate dust collection within offices, conference rooms, and other public areas.
- Clean Glass Doors/Windows. The applicant shall clean glass surfaces of the entire main entrance; entrance, break room, and third floor glass doors; and any other glass area within the building.
- General Spot Cleaning. The applicant shall perform spot cleaning on a continual basis throughout the facility. Spot cleaning includes, but is not limited to, removing or cleaning smudges, fingerprints, marks, streaks, spills, etc., from washable surfaces of all walls, partitions, vents, grill work, doors, door guards, door handles, push bars, kick plates, light switches, temperature controls, and fixtures.
- Special Event Cleaning Services.
- Must have / Be able to obtain DOD Security Clearance
- Must have at least 1-2 years of experience as a custodian or helper at a commercial or government property.

- Must have good verbal communication skills, customer service skills and be able to read, write and understand the English language.

Polysomnographic Technologist - Tamc
A Daytime Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Disorders Center Clinical Supervisor and the Medical Director of the Sleep Disorders Center to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic, and therapeutic services, patient care and educations, clerical and administrative responsibilities. This will require working nights on occasion to help cover nighttime polysomnographer shortage.

Maintain staff schedule in conjunction with Sleep Medicine office staff.
Schedule department meetings, record and type minutes for those meetings, and dispense minutes to appropriate persons.
Schedule patient appointments (mask fittings. EEG. MSLT. etc.) Allowing adequate time for personnel to complete those functions.
Handling all phone calls into the center, including patients, physicians, and homecare providers.
Registering patients for appropriate testing (polysomnography, mask fittings, etc.)
Oversee QA/QI program (as per P&P manual). Prepare quarterly reports.
Enter patient's charges for services rendered.
Verify at the end of the day that all patient charges have been entered into the system for the day clinics/mask fitting and previous night polysomnography.
Day Clinic Procedures

Perform pre-diagnostic tours and education.
- Follow procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT). Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data.

2.Maintain the Port Area
The Expeditor is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the Port Area & Lab. Responsibilities include: Removing all debris & empty boxes from the floor, expediting specimens to hold locations, ensuring all boxes are properly identifies & tracked, ensuring specimens are not left in the port area, announcing all incoming ports & any delays for ports
The Expeditor is responsible for "pushing" specimens to the testing departments ready to be processed & "pulling" specimens back to accessioning that may require additional attention once every hour.
The Expeditor is responsible for signing off on incoming biopsies, building the specimens into SRS, & properly tracking the trays & containers via SRS per SOP.
The Expeditor will be responsible for signing off on the Biopsy Tracking SOP after completion of Training.
5.PSC Touch Specimen Handling
The Expeditor is responsible for receiving all PSC Touch Specimens, building & maintaining PSC Touch Specimens & troubleshooting any problem specimens received involving PSC Touch. The Expeditor will also be responsible for running the nightly PSC Touch SCAN Audit & reconciling any issues.
The Expeditor is responsible for receiving Hospital Specimens (frozen & room temperature), In-House/Referral Frozen Specimens, Urine Sterile Containers, etc. More specimens for receiving may be added in the future.
