Shipping Project Engineer (Houston, TX)
Shell is looking for a Shipping Project Engineer in a dynamic team that provides technical maritime consultancy to Shell Group Companies, Joint Ventures and Third Parties on port and terminal facilities development; LNG liquefaction and regasification projects, LNG market access development, and terminal and offshore operations due diligence and cargo management. The scope the team works on includes, but is not limited to:
LNG/natural gas terminal development, providing specialist advice on:
Terminal location through green-field site selection
Computer modeling of shipping access
Full mission simulation for vessel maneuvering and berthing
Preparation of Basis of Design and Design Package maritime content
Detailed design review, operational procedures, due diligence and pre-start up audits and operations reviews
Ship/shore compatibility studies for LNG tankers and terminals.
Offshore terminals - including Floating Regasification, Floating LNG - design input to off take mooring systems and cargo transfer, tow and site installation, development of berthing and mooring procedures.
Liaise with the U.S. Coast Guard, Pilots and Harbor Masters and other regulatory bodies.
Comply with the Shell Business Principles, the Group HSSE and SP Control Framework, Transport Manual – Maritime Safety in all aspects of daily work. Consider Enterprise First and Shell's overall strategy in project development.
Provide relevant marine technical expertise in project and operational issues addressing the scope, within "Purpose", above.
Contribute to, or produce the project work scope from Client's specification and may manage the activities of additional Shell and Consultant staff on specific projects.
Compile work scopes and contract the services of third party consultants where required.
Liaise with management of the Client organization in representing the marine aspect of project work.
Positively contribute to Shell's bottom line, by providing practical and innovative solutions to ensure the success of conceptual projects.
Positively influence projects in assuring the development and operation phase is conducted as safely as practicable and to enhance the efficiency and safety of established activities by application of Shell's internal and other appropriate standards and/or guidelines for maritime risk management.
Consider potential business efficiency gains through (more) effective utilization of maritime assets in day to day activities.
Continually assess the personal relevance of new/innovative marine technical advances and maintain a contemporary knowledge base.

Dimensions: The position is within the Shipping and Maritime Technology, Americas and is an individual contributor in a team of Shipping and Maritime professionals. Sr. Accountant, Plant Accounting (Sabine Pass)
Senior Accountant, Plant Accounting will work directly with the Plant Controller to record journal entries, complete account reconciliations and perform financial analyses for Cheniere's Sabine Pass liquefaction and regasification operations.
Senior Accountant, Plant Accounting will hold knowledge of relevant financial accounting standards and apply knowledge to financial transactions. Lastly, the Senior Accountant, Sabine Pass Plant Accounting will evaluate changing business demands and anticipate potential accounting issues that could adversely impact the accuracy of Cheniere's books and records.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Complete financial analytical reviews including balance sheet fluctuation analysis and P&L variances.
Assist with development and maintenance of forecasting & budgeting activities.
Lead project specific activities including:
PO Accrual activities
Analyze transactions posting to accounts to ensure proper accounting treatment applied.
Assist with project module administration activities as requested.
Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure timely clearing and documentation of transactions.
Gather information from other departments to understand non-recurring financial transactions, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strong preference or working towards certification completion.
3-5 years progressive responsibility in Corporate Accounting, Operations/Plant Accounting, external auditing, forecasting & budgeting, and/or relevant experience.
Pipeline and Oil & Gas Accounting experience preferred.
Skills – Technical:
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Understanding of Oracle v12 ERP system.
Use of Hyperion Essbase/Smartview and Hyperion Planning.
Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills.

Senior Accountant, Sabine Pass Plant Accounting will work independently within the team and will receive direction as needed from Plant Controller.
Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
Periodically travel as business requires.
