Title: Hoisting Engineer
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under supervision, operates a variety of heavy equipment such as back-hoes, sweepers, dobers, paving mixers, roller machines, fork lift trucks or ditch diggers with proper attachments, or other heavy machines used in excavation, building, rough grading and paving work. Is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance of equipment. Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Operates heavy equipment such as back-hoes, sweepers, dobers, paving mixers, roller machines, ditch diggers with attachments for digging trenches, back filling, loading and lifting. Performs examinations of heavy machinery to ensure the proper level of gas, water and oil for operation.
Lubricates equipment as necessary. Changes oil on equipment and performs routine repairs on heavy equipment. Ensures that machinery and equipment is kept in a clean and proper condition.
Maintains and submits reports of work performed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
Completion of an approved hoisting engineer apprentice training program with journeyman status.
Possession of a CDL, Class B drivers license issued by the State of Illinois.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the methods of road construction, maintenance and repair. Basic knowledge of the mechanical performance of heavy equipment.
Skill in the use of a variety of heavy equipment.
Skill in locating and identifying minor defects and malfunctions in heavy equipment. Ability to use simple hand tools such as shovels, brooms, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, grease guns. Ability to prepare written reports.

The Loader Operator will contribute to the production team to ensure goals are met safely and efficiently while conforming to company policies. Process vehicles in a safe manner to produce core & scrap products, enable the customers to pull parts, and satisfy environmental requirements. This position focuses primarily on Front Loader operation and various material handling duties.
Operation of a Front Loader, Crusher, Fork Lift or Skid Steer: Move vehicles, cores, scrap, and other material safely through the yard. Ensure that loads are positioned and placed securely. Use various tool attachments to segregate and dismantle light passenger vehicles.
Maintenance of a Front Loader, Crusher, Fork Lift or Skid Steer: Perform the pre-operations check and other inspections/cleaning as prescribed in the Certification course.

Performing daily inspection rounds and monitoring of equipment, reading gauges and meters, recording activities in operational logs, making adjustments as necessary, and reporting any abnormal plant conditions.
Regularly cleaning plant spaces and equipment; using hand and power tools, chain hoists and rigging gear, and measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Adhering to Company procedures and policies including: Lock-Out-Tag-Out, NFPA, 70E, start-up and shut-down procedures, plant and facility security, working aloft, PPE, man lift and industrial lift truck operation.
