Field Engineer - Fort Hood TX
Leidos Defense and Intelligence group is seeking a THAAD Field Engineer in Fort Hood, TX. The candidate will provide engineering system and upper level maintenance support to THAAD Fire Units.
The successful candidate will function as a field engineer with the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system and will assist the customer in the operation, maintenance, march-order and emplacement of the THAAD Fire Control & Communication (TFCC) and/or THAAD Missile Launcher system in accordance with established procedures and processes. Candidate will support the customer in establishing a Sustainment Maintenance program to include scheduling services, system upgrades, and modifications. Candidate will perform all maintenance actions that are above the level of military enhanced operator/maintainers (EOM) and troubleshooting all failures reported by the EOM to include but not limited to: software,
hardware, interconnecting cabling, electrical system, and networks. Candidate will be a member of a support team and will perform all duties under minimal supervision and cross train to gain proficiency working with other elements of the THAAD system. The position is designated mission essential and worldwide deployable and may require deployment training and military exercise participation and other related training for the
area of operations. Candidates will support military movement to a potentially hazardous zone, support any and all lead up events working overtime and non-standard shifts as necessary. Working overtime and non-standard shifts may be necessary.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree. Demonstrate prior experience in: Engineering services and support Integrated missile defense systems
Intermediate to advanced computer language commands Intermediate to advanced electronic skills Network/Systems experience in design, installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN infrastructure Security
systems using Cisco routers/Switches, Juniper Firewall. Must be able to obtain Secret clearance.
Experience working in UNIX/Linux environment and various software developments in Defense, Manufacturing, and/or Engineering services industry. Be familiar with networking technologies. i.e.
Routers and Switches and IT networking/configuration. Intermediate mechanical skills, experience with hydraulics, and knowledge of COMSEC and Crypto utilization. Secret clearance is required for this position.
Must be proficient in the use of commercial test equipment to troubleshoot and rework mechanical, electronic, and electrical equipment. Must have experience in using laptop/desktop computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with data transmission equipment and technique. Experience and Knowledge of US Air and Missile Defense operations.
Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technical and training applications. Must possess or be able to obtain a Security+ certification within 6 months of hire.
