About This Position
This position is responsible to function as a member of a work team to produce various Rough Machined forgings to Customer's specifications. Performs all functions within the Cell including lathes, mills, saws and other equipment.

What You'll Do:
Verifies sizes of parts, and ensures parts will meet the customer's requirements by properly performing layout operations. Completes non-conforming material reports (NCM) when necessary.
Loads and unloads machines with aid of overhead crane. Operates machine and material handling equipment with care to avoid damage. Utilizes a variety of below hook lifting devices as appropriate for the part/task.
Assumes ownership of the part once cutting begins
Sets up and operates machines to perform required operations. Selects, installs and changes tooling as required to maintain cut quality.
Sets up and operate saw/lathe/mill/core tester, etc. selecting proper feeds and speeds. For mills, adjusts speeds and feeds in accordance with the milling calculator to maximize chip removal rate and carbide life. Adjusts saw feeds and speeds per the charts and as per the procedure for blade 'break-in'. Maintains spare cutter(s) ready to install.
Performs preliminary Equi-tip tests and final Brinell hardness tests as required.
Performs final dimensional inspection of product and completes dimensional sketch as required.
Performs final saw cuts to length tolerance.

Machine Operator Hardener Operator
Perform various duties to operate horizontal electric controlled atmosphere furnaces, vertical heat treating equipment for continuous hardening and tempering various sizes, following prescribed standard methods, practices and procedures. Work from coil identification tags, specifications, various charts, tables, established procedures, written or verbal instructions. Use micrometers, vernier calipers, overhead electric hoists, hand electric truck, various furnace speed and temperature controls and direct reading instruments, Set-ups require threading of leader through furnace, adjustments to speeds, tensions, air flow, oven temperatures, water temperature and pressure to achieve prescribed operating conditions. Calibrate induction heating unit periodically.
Check all coil ID tags for correct specifications and to assure completion of previous operations. Set feed rate and check speed with stop watch. Use overhead hoist to place coil on play out table. Join start of new coil to end of preceding coil by resistance butt welding for continuous operation. Check direct reading instruments for temperature and monitor nitrogen atmosphere make up. As necessary, make adjustments to air jets, induction coils, etc. Cut section from each coil and check teeth and gullet for visual defects. Use vernier caliper to check stretch against reference chart. Secure hardened coils with wire and place on tempering rack. Fill out all appropriate coil / temper tickets and travelers. Transport full racks to tempering area.
Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment and materials, as well as unusual situations.

The Machine Operator position is responsible for operating and troubleshooting machinery in a specific area, which requires a basic understanding to operate properly. In addition, he or she is responsible for inspecting boards to ensure compliance with IPC standards.
Work as a Team to assure that PCBs are completed correctly by verifying the work of other areas before beginning machine operator process and point out those errors so they can be corrected immediately to eliminate errors.

Safely operate equipment in such a way as to comply with equipment manufacture specifications and recommendations for the specific machinery in the area.
Step-up, operate, and inspect specific machinery in the area.
Clean machines weekly
Inspect work product for conformance to CPI and IPC-610 standards.
Verify number of boards completed by the machine with the amount required on the MO.
Perform touchup of conformal coat or rework to bring product into compliance
Proper handling of chemicals as required per specific machinery in the area: (reference SDS book).
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintain work areas and equipment are in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

Operate a production line to produce high quality monofilament fibers. Work as part of a shift to safely maintain maximum production while maintaining high quality standards.
Operate and set up production line to extrude monofilament fiber
Start up a production line in accordance with work order
Set up sheets and documented procedures
Set and adjust various temperatures and speed control
Operate scrap station
Put line on spools and make change overs
Ensure filament is winding on spools correctly, adjust tension if necessary
Make all changes to machines as required by Quality Assurance
Box finished product and rack empty spools
Record production related information in log book
Maintain various machine related charts
Record daily entries in OEE Spreadsheet
Clean machines and maintain production area
Trouble-shoot machine when product does not meet specifications
Perform additional tasks at the request of hte Hourly Team Leaders and Manufacturing Coordinators
Ability or read, write, communicate and comprehend written and verbal instructions
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Positive attitude and team player
Ability to problem solve
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
1+ Years of manufacturing experience preferred
Familiarization / experience / certifications with Lean Sigma concepts

Bending, stooping, and lifting 55 pounds daily is required. Standing, walking for 10+ hours of shift is required. Candidate will be exposed to noise, warm temperatures and industrial equipment. Candidate must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
