Environmental Exposure: Employee will work in and around energized/rotating equipment, confined spaces, vibrating equipment, heights, noise levels requiring ear protection, presence of chemical fumes, lead and dust requiring use of a respirator and work in a wide range of ambient temperatures, both hot and cold. The employee will work off of ladders and scaffolding, in elevated positions, and may be required to handle asbestos, lead and other hazardous materials.
Employee must be able to walk, climb stairs and ladders throughout the plant. Work is often on gravel, concrete, and uneven surfaces.

Must have successfully passed the Behavioral Assessment & the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Plant Operator Selection Systems (POSS) test

Must respond to overtime and call outs

Chief Operator - Pump Station
Operate and maintain stationary diesel engines, large pumps and ancillary machinery and equipment at a pumping station. Perform preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps, generators, compressors, travel screen and raw water intake, and trash rake. Participate in the overhauling of diesel engines.
Responsible for the leadership of a Pump Station Operation team. Responsibilities include the training and guidance of all crews working at the Pump Station facility in machinery operations, maintenance, plant operations, plant safety, and all operational procedures. Perform planning and implementing all program activities including the scheduling of personnel and assisting with budget and utilization of team resources.
Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system. Serve as resident expert of all aspects of plant machinery and facility maintenance standards. Provide feedback to immediate supervisor regarding employee performance of assigned crew.
The Homestead Field Station work hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our offices are closed on Friday.
High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years' experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel engines plus a minimum of three (3) years' experience demonstrating leadership capabilities as crew leader in corresponding program.
Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
Ability to obtain certification sin Rigging, Forklift, CPR and First Aid.
Physical Requirements/ Working Environment
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Position requires work inside during pumping operations and outside maintaining facility. Works in confined pump bay areas during servicing and repairing.
May work various shifts covering 24 hours a day seven days a week. Overtime will be required based on weather and/or environmental conditions.
Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments. Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more

Performs advanced, journey level skilled tasks in the operation and service of all associated equipment and tools needed to construct, maintain or repair county landfill sites. Operating Compactor at the Transfer Station.
Works under the general supervision of the Landfill Manager.
May provide close supervision and instruction to less experienced Equipment Operators I.
Operates compacter, crawler loader, scraper, dozer, bellydump or related heavy equipment utilized in the moving, covering and compacting of waste and animal carcasses deposited into county landfill.
Checks and services assigned equipment; performs routine maintenance and repairs; checks and restores fluid levels; reports mechanical problems for shop repairs.
Acts as a waste screener; observes waste for containments and identifies hazardous waste or other materials excluded from deposit in public landfill.
Monitors patron/public activities to assure compliance with established rules and regulations; operates radio and two-way communications as needed to alert equipment operators of suspicious activity or waste loads.
Deals with public complaints; apprises public of landfill requirements and fees; resolves issues face-to-face or seeks supervisory assistance.
Provides assistance on special construction and maintenance projects undertaken within the landfill; may provide physical or equipment labor related to cutting grades, modifying drainage system or installing protective liners to protect ground water, etc.; operates equipment to assist to stockpile dirt, asphalt, gravel and various materials used in road and landfill construction and maintenance.

- Education and Experience:
A. Graduation from high school;
B. Five (5) years of experience in operation and maintenance of medium and heavy equipment;

- Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the principles and techniques of heavy mechanized equipment operations; DEQ regulations. Working knowledge of hazards and safety standards common in medium and heavy equipment operation and maintenance and repair; hazardous waste regulations and guidelines. Some knowledge of basic landfill engineering processes, procedures and controls related to staking, making cuts, fills and grades.
Advanced skill in operation of medium and heavy equipment.

Transfer Station Operator
Under the direction of the Transfer Station Supervisor and/or Assistant, directs all of the operations of the Transfer Station within City of Amarillo guidelines and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Rules and Regulations. Directs the work of the transfer truck drivers, laborers and all other personnel assigned to the transfer station. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel. This position will be subject to 24 hour call back on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Assumes all of the duties and responsibilities of the Transfer Station Supervisor or Assistant in their absence.
Directs the work of all truck drivers, laborers and other assigned personnel

This is a frontline manager position that supports the FedEx Ground (FXG) Safety Above All Culture and manages specific day-to-day operations and an assigned staff within a station or hub. Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient package sortation through the management of Package Handlers. The Operations Manager may also manage administrative employees and functions and ensures administrative processes are compliant with FXG policies and procedures and governmental regulations.
Serves as a champion for FXG's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives
Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity
Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls specific day-to-day operations within the station or hub
Responsible for assigning and managing employees to ensure the safe and efficient sortation of packages through the facility, minimizing operational cost and maximizing operational quality, including the movement, tracking and administration of trailers (in conjunction with the linehaul department as applicable)
Analyzes operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports and collaboration with others.
Determines opportunities for improvement of key metrics and executes action plans to achieve results
Leads daily employee and/or planning meetings to ensure workforce communication and understanding of operational updates and daily goals
Participates in the development of and responsible for administering company employee relations strategies, including maintaining the confidentiality of such material and matters
Participates in the development of and responsible for administering company safety strategies and programs
Investigates, resolves and/or escalates customer service issues, as appropriate
Responsible for training new employees regarding job duties and performance expectations and ensuring compliance with FXG policies, procedures and other training requirements, including but not limited to training related to quality assurance, SWAK, hazardous materials, and dock safety
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or a related area preferred
- Six (6) months package handler, FedEx Ground field or related experience required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or a related area is accepted in lieu of required experience
