Silgan Closures, New Castle plant is seeking highly motivated dependable employees to join our team on the production floor. We will train you on the job.
Starting rate of pay is $10 per hour. New Hires are assigned to midnight or afternoon shifts. 8 hours per day with paid lunch and break time. Essential Functions Prepare production paperwork for machine start-up and operation. Monitor machine operation to ensure parts are collected into storage boxes and are counted correctly. Perform quality checks following machine re-starts or as needed.
Evaluate product to ensure high quality and conformance with established standards. Report any food safety and quality problems or concerns to the Plant Quality Manager Ensure that there are no foreign objects or contamination in the customer product and/or boxes. Evaluate and document machine performance.
Maintain ink in printers and labels in labelers. Un-jam assemblers as needed. Pull boxes from the turntable as they become filled.
Tape boxes shut, label the boxes, and stack for shipment. Prepare paperwork at the end of the shift for the following shift, noting any problems or exceptions that occurred. Perform manual sorting of non-conforming product as required for full or partial shifts.
Additional Responsibilities Communicate with employees on prior shift regarding problems. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures, as well as SQF 2000 System requirements Maintain a clean and safe working area. Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF PLANT LABORER
Maintain plant on a daily basis preforming routine maintenance tasks (i.e. lubrication, major and minor repairs) and clean up (i.e. shoveling, washing with a high pressure hose, running a skid steer loader). Operate and maintain in a safe manner various pieces of equipment, such as, but not limited to, front end loader, off road haul truck, road grader, water truck, service truck, skid steer loader.
