JOB RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conduct industrial engineering distribution labor studies
Establish computer based productivity labor standards
Develop methods for tracking and reporting warehouse and transportation key performance indicators
Analyze and support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
Document process changes and ensure SOPs are updated
Maintain labor tables in WMS / LMS
Assist in training operations staff on Lean Principles; work sampling, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans

Evaluate and advise distribution management on potential operational improvements

Ensure standards are developed in a manner that meets the test of scrutiny from Labor Union. Interact with Union officials as necessary to support the reasonableness and soundness of developed labor standards
Provide support for the facilitation of lean events and validation of cost savings
Assist with the maintenance of drop zones for transportation
Compliance for COOL
Compliance for Sarbanes Oxley
Audit and ensure accuracy rates for the division
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field equivalent experience
MTM and/or Basic MOST certification preferred
Six Sigma Black / Green Belt preferred
Skills and Experiences:
3+ years experience in Industrial Engineering
3+ years experience in distribution operations
Experience with labor standards
In-depth knowledge of Warehousing and Transportation Operations
Experience dealing with collective bargaining units
May spend long periods of time in the warehouse performing work sampling or time study

As an Industrial Engineer, you will support operations across the North America Supply Chain. Example of specialized experience involves providing professional industrial engineering support to trades and crafts shops and advises management and/or production officials on the most effective standards, processes, methods, systems and procedures to be used in accomplishing mission and goals.
For GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12. Example of specialized experience involves research, develop, and/or applying different modeling and statistical techniques or numerical analysis for operational use, develops modeling and statistical applications, specific algorithms, and/or models using those algorithms to reflect an operational problem.
For GS-14: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13. Example of specialized experience involves research, develop, and/or applying different modeling and statistical techniques or numerical analysis for operational use, develops modeling and statistical applications, specific algorithms, and/or models using those algorithms to reflect an operational problem.
For GS-15: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14. Example of specialized experience involves research, develop, and/or applying different modeling and statistical techniques or numerical analysis for operational use, develops modeling and statistical applications, specific algorithms, and/or models using those algorithms to reflect an operational problem.
ALL applicants are required to meet Basic Qualfications described in the individual occupational requirements. Applicants who meet the basic requirements are fully qualified for the specified entry grade level GS-5. Applicants who wish to qualify for positions at higher grade levels must also meet additional requirements in addition to meeting the basic requirement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1.Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, methods and techniques of industrial engineering, as evidenced by detailed experience in one or more of the areas of manufacturing, productivity, and quality assurance.
2.Knowledge of administrative aspects of project development, i.e., procurement policies, preparation of work statements and development plans, cost evaluations, etc.
3.Skill to apply quantitative techniques and develop, adapt, modify and/or apply models to solve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions for management.
4.Ability to research, analyze and interpret guidance and determine applicability and impact to the organization and its operations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
