Micro Ingredient Handler - 3Rd Shift
This position is located in Winchester, KY. No relocation assistance is offered.
Accurately weighs, measures, packages and labels ingredients by hand, including vitamins, minerals, drugs and other supplements, based on specific feed recipe requirements for use in batching operations. Relies on previous mill experience, accuracy and attention to detail. Must adhere to strict regulatory guidelines and company policies. Performs work under general supervision.
Coordinate daily micro-ingredient and drug pack preparation activities, including opening ingredient tubs, placing weighed ingredient containers at the mixer, scanning bar codes, completing process control system requirements, placing weighed ingredient packages on pallets with appropriate production personnel. Work together as a team to meet batch schedule requirements, quality standards and maximum production efficiency.
Perform daily inventory of micro-ingredients in coordination with Quality Control (QC) Supervisor. Reconcile supply of drugs and supplements with usage in feed production. Monitor inventory supply levels and expiration dates. Notify QC Supervisor if supplies are low or reaching expiration.
Strictly follow established procedures and the Bar Code Hand-Add System to accurately weigh drugs and micro-ingredients. Use hand-held tools to collect and weigh drugs and micro-ingredients. Place into designated clean containers, according to current formula and designated batch size. Operate the automated system to ensure accurate weight of each micro-ingredient or drug, and that weight conforms to limits for under and over tolerance.
Label each micro-ingredient and drug container with system printed bar code labels to ensure operators can accurately identify.
Adhere to established drug handling and documentation procedures at all times, as drug handling is strictly controlled by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and by the Cargill Quality Control (QC) Program. Immediately notify a supervisor of any suspected problem with a micro-ingredient pack. Regularly review QC Manual bulletins and comply with requirements.
Maintain inventory supply in the micro scale system bins. Locate and transport the ingredients needed to refill micro scale bins from warehouse storage utilizing the appropriate equipment, including forklift, hand truck or pallet jack. Verify correct bin and ingredient and discharge bagged ingredients into the bin. Record the transaction in the QC documentation and process control system.
Complete and maintain written reports, logs, inventory records, and other related quality control documents accurately and in a timely manner according to standard operating procedures for documentation.
Conduct a daily check of scale accuracy by utilizing check weights. Calibrate scale to accurate weight if needed. Perform routine preventative maintenance and assist maintenance mechanics as required. Report equipment maintenance needs to supervisor.
Maintain clean and orderly work area by keeping tools and equipment in proper places and all materials off the floor. Perform all related cleaning and sanitizing of micro inventory storage areas and other assigned work areas. Properly dispose of waste material. Be proactive with cleaning efforts as facility may receive non-company personnel. Follow all requirements of mill Housekeeping Plan, Quality Control and HACCP Plans.
Work safely as to not cause harm to yourself, co-workers, equipment, or inventory. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per mill PPE plan. Operate all equipment according to OSHA regulations, Cargill Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, work rules and policies.
Perform all other job functions as assigned.

The Ingredient Storage area is responsible for receiving, storing and staging all raw materials (bulk and non-bulk) for the Processing department. The Global Research Group is seeking a self-starter with a proven technical background for new ingredients research and development. The successful candidate is expected to help define new ingredients technology to improve product stability, cost, health and nutrition. The success candidate will play a role in new ingredients development, approval and specification optimization. The Candidate should have a deep understanding on ingredients development, application and qualification. This position reports to Principal Scientist – Ingredient Technology
Function Specific Activities:

Work with external suppliers to Identify, develop, and commercialize ingredients technologies that will improve beverage performance, cost, health & wellness etc.
Working closely with various research groups, evaluate the ingredients research output in different product platforms against the predefined qualification checklist to form the recommendation for each of the ingredients development stage, gate process.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert in one or more specific ingredients technology application areas (emulsion, stabilizer, sweetener, colorant etc.) to provide consultancy and trouble-shooting support to the R&D and broad technical community.
Lead new research ingredients R&D approval, lead/conduct finish product evaluation, coordinate the analytical test, and provide R&D inputs in new supplier qualification process.
Understand R&D process, and participate in managing the stage gate research process.
Monitor technical literature to understand IP landscape of related technical fields and identify future research opportunities, relevant external technologies and leverages to internal needs.
- Bachelor's degree minimum, advanced degree in related field (biochemistry, organic chemistry, food science, Chemical Engineering) is preferred.

ICD Platform NPD Support providing leadership with respect to ingredient functionality and link to applications guidance and participation on ICD stage gate project execution as part of core team
Foundational Characterization of raw materials research. Assess interactions and influence of different parameters on the functionality of the raw materials by platform to enable SFI to more successfully compete by distinguishing itself as an ingredient leader, a solution provider
