Injection Molding Machine Operator
Set up equipment and perform process operations and jobs assigned to the Injection Group.
This is a Union-Hourly 2nd shift position.
Setting up tooling and fixtures, operating, and adjusting to maintain accurate tolerances and finish requirements within the parameters defined for the Injection Cell.
Responsible for recognizing deviations from the standard routine and make minor decisions within the limitations of the process tooling sequences and equipment motion control.
Maintain predetermined stock levels of prescribed tooling and manufacturing supplies.
Responsible for the quality of parts produced and will operate utilizing current Company standards.
Other responsibilities as assigned or required.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
- Small hand tools such as wrenches, mallet, chisel, screw driver, etc. Hand lift trucks for moving material.
Work is performed in standing position involving some walking, bending, stooping, handling of light materials, handling of heavier material will be encountered maybe encountered while setting up machine.

Hazards are minor cuts, bruises and burns, but normal precautions make job quite safe. Reasonable care of own work will ensure safety of others.

Injection Molding Color Change Operator
This position is primarily responsible for color changes and operation of injection molding machines to mold products form thermoplastic materials. Additionally, this position is responsible for inspecting and trimming excess material from parts and performing secondary operations. Adherence to safety, housekeeping and quality standards as related to production and company objectives is required. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining production goals through productivity targets and cost containment by eliminating waste.

Coordinate work flow and material handling within work cell

Operate fork trucks
Performs color changes and/or start-up's of injection molding machines
Perform process control, start-up, process monitoring, press / mold maintenance
Prepare raw materials including mixing for processing
Start-up / operate part picker
Run polycarbonate work cells, which requires additional trimming and notching
Run lens work cell which has heightened inspection and cutting operations (expensive tooling)
Visually Inspects, trims excess material and maintains relevant paperwork
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to log scrap data, dimensional data and color change timer operations in computer system
Ability to set-up and start all auxiliary equipment except robot setup.
Set up and start hot runner controls, thermolators, and pulse cooling
Ability to check safeties on all press types inspect PM presses, perform basic press operations & perform mold cleaning operation
Ability to successfully complete color changes with established time limits.

Proven ability to read and understand drawings, work instructions and test procedures
Proven ability to understand standard units of measure and to set-up and interpret results of various measuring devices
Ability to work in a fast paced repetitive environment
Ability to infrequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance
Ability to use power and hand tools, and to operate moderately complex machines
Ability to effectively communicate with various levels within the organization including training of new associates and temporary agency assignments

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Serving a huge range of markets - from pharmaceutical and personal care to paints, solvents, oils and lubricants, Rieke Packaging Systems supplies both boutique manufacturers and the world's top brands with drum closures, pump dispensers and custom packaging solutions. The Molding Technician will be responsible for mold set up, start up, and operation of Injection Molding Machines and ancillary equipment in support of a high volume injection molding operation. Molding Technicians are also responsible for mold cleaning and basic service and repair of ancillary equipment. The qualified individual will be able to install, repair, and maintain injection molding equipment, including but not limited to conveyors and sorters.
Responsibilities of the Molding Technician:
Review production orders scheduled to run on a daily and weekly schedule.
Color- make sure color feed does not run low, communicate with Quality Control especially when color running low.
Coordinates Molding Machine production; orders to be run on daily basis, according to production schedule and order specification.
Fills in orders and color running.
Cycle time- makes sure cycle time is recorded, and if any cycle time changes, makes sure is noted.
Shift change – must communicate with next shift any changes/concerns/problems.
Record any changes to machine to correct problem, such as flash/thread/ trap caps.
Perform preventative maintenance on molding machines & other equipment such as electric and hydraulic mold machines, hot runner tooling, and associated machinery as necessary.
Evaluate molding processes to update and improve quality while maintaining safety & productivity.
Set & start up production jobs while using current process procedures and databases for documenting and troubleshooting.
Equipment problems, be able to repair the following; core top changes, Core pull switches and sensors, O-rings on tooling, mold tips, air valves on Husky for SSB, Fuses on mold temperature controllers, Hydraulic cylinders on molds, Hydraulic hoses from mold to machine inspection and replacement, water hoses from mold machine to inspection and replacement. If unable to repair must call for assistance from Production Supervisor/Maintenance Manager.
Required Qualifications of the Molding Technician:
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 3 years of injection molding experience
Strong mechanical aptitude
Attention to details and ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
Preferred Qualifications of the Molding Technician:
- 5 or more years of injection molding experience

The Injection Molding Engineering Technician II will:
Provides technical and process support for the Arburg and Netstal injection molding machines.

The injection molding Processor is a "hands on" position responsible for coordinating the molding efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising existing processes to ensure quality product is produced at the highest yields, and assists the manufacturing operations in problem solving and driving continuous improvements in a high volume, high tolerance molding environment. Install, removal, adjustment of all injection molding machinery and equipment.
Clean and change tools and molds as needed.
Connection of water, hydraulic, and air lines.
Ability to read drawings and set-up sheets.
Make adjustments for short, flash, pressure, speed, and temperature.
Ensure molded components meet all product quality criteria including dimensional criteria.
Verify correct set-up of molds, presses, and auxiliary equipment before machine start-up.
Establish proper molding conditions. Obtain mold approval at the appropriate time.
Must be able to work independently on new process development as well as troubleshooting current production issues.
Develop new processes, assess and document new and existing processes. Implement and evaluate changes to existing processes designed to improve product quality, productivity and overall equipment efficiency.
Validate molds and equipment.
Input master molding parameters into each press.
Communicate any process changes in both written and verbal form.
Recommends equipment, tooling or mold changes or replacements to improve quality and overall efficiencies.
Document all significant events, including process changes, alarms, mold cleanings, etc.
Maintains safe and clean working environment following OSHA, company policy, and 5S methodology.
Two years of experience in plastic injection molding processing.
Experience in high volume/high tolerance injection molding.
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs consistently. Must be able to stand up to 12 hours. Bending and reaching are necessary to perform job effectively.
Ability to effectively manage time and meeting scheduled deadlines.
Must have high school diploma or GED.
In depth understanding of injection molding concepts, processing, and system operation.
Ability to stay organized while managing multiple critical tasks.
Demonstrated performance proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Sumitomo and Engel hydraulic and electric machines a plus.
